> 3 dayAs mentioned in the title, despite hours of messing around with this unit and resetting and restarting I absolutely could not get this to integrate with Alexa. I was able to control devices remotely using the broad link app, but the devices would not show up under Alexa devices, which is why I bought this - for voice control. After all, what’s the point of using my phone as a remote control when I have the actual device remote control?!? The ONLY thing Alexa recognized was the temperature - but not the humidity. So the added skill in Alexa WAS working, however no controllable devices appeared. I saw in other reviews you have to use “scenes” to get this to work, I couldn’t find that option in Alexa - so it’s looks like that feature was removed. On the subject of “rolling code” RF devices: I’m sure you’re likewise asking yourself what that is, and more importantly how to know if a device uses them. Long story short there is no way to know (manufacturers don’t advertise this), but suffice it to say that if you have anything more advanced than cheap-o Christmas light remotes it probably has rolling code. This is not so much for security, but more to prevent the wrong remote from controlling a device. I bought this to control a dust collector remote in my wood shop, but it wouldn’t work due to rolling code. I’m honestly not sure why the manufacturer hasn’t implemented rolling code, it is very common. In fact most devices that have a button to “link” the remote is a rolling code learning feature. If you do link this up, and the device only turns on or off once using the app it is using rolling code. I also tried linking this to a remote outdoor switched outlet (Christmas light control) and it would only turn the device on, not off. I really wanted this to work, but without getting the Alexa component to integrate it is a rather useless brick, and an expensive one at that. I can confirm that this unit was a dual RF frequency unit, tested it with remotes on 315MHz and 433MHz bands. Usually the remote lists a frequency, but if not, the app can “search” for the frequency which is a really cool feature. This device is **almost** there, but Alexa not working is a deal breaker, that’s what I bought it for

> 3 dayThe hardware looks to be good but the app has a long way to go to make it user friendly. I got this to replace a universal remote for my Vizio TV and Yamaha Soundbar using IR, and also to control another device which uses RF. Overall the hardware works well as expected but it was extremely difficult to setup the app to work with my devices. The Vizio TV setup was okay using the search feature to match the brand, but it did not have all the functionality that my physical remote does. Additionally some of the buttons were incorrectly programmed. For example the number keys would send the wrong channel number e.g. pressing 4 would send #3 to the TV etc. So I had to use the learn mode to program the correct number keys. Many other standard functions were missing and I havent found a way to add buttons to teach it new functions. The Yamaha Soundbar was not available through the brand search. They had receivers and amplifiers but no soundbars. I could select a Yamaha amplifier to get the power and volume working, but once again I could not program/add buttons for other features of the soundbar e.g. sub-woofer volume, input selection, or changing sound modes. The RF device had to be manually programmed and it was not too difficult, but I would have liked the option to customize buttons with an appropriate graphic or an option to import my own graphic. Google, Alexa, and Siri integration is pretty basic. For example, I can ask Google to turn on the TV and Soundbar, but unable to change channels or volume through voice command. Siri via voice does not work for me, but I am able to use Shortcuts to add buttons that initiate pre-programed functions in the app. All in all, its able to handle the basic funtions I want but I would like more customization options in the app. I would say, if you like to tinker with gadgets and smart home devices, you may like the challenge, but I would not recommend this device for novice users who expect plug-and-play functionality from their devices.

> 3 dayNowadays, all companies are trying to facilitate the installation and configuration process of their products, and some of them achieved a zero touch or automatized flow but Broadlink have not started to work in this, the installation process is almost similar to how was install periphericals in the 80s or 90s. I came to believe that it would be necessary to download a driver, install it first and then try the remote control installation again. It is almost impossible to install a broadlink if there is a good wifi network, if someone has a wifi mesh network it is best not to buy this product. Broadlink says that the remote control needs a 2,4GHz wif network (old fashioned network) but the app does not accept to install the remote control when the wifi network is mesh type (2,4GHz + 5GHz + band steering)!!!!, and the problem is the app!, not the broadlink. I had to use a very old smartphone (it just support 2,4GHz for wifi) and the app finally accepted to install the remote control using the wifi mesh network!. The application has other nonsense problems, for example is not possible to register using google account, it is mandatory to create an user in the broadlink app and then select apple or google account!!!. After some hours trying to install the first broadlink it has finally worked and it is fare to say that works very well, the IR signal is better (coverage angle) than the original remote control of my air conditioner

Greater than one weekProduct has worked for majority of what I wanted it for. It says doesn’t work 5GHz and mesh wifi but I have the google nest mesh, the router and 1 access point. BroadLink pro recognizes my network and connected to it no problem. In google app I do see it is connected to 2.4GHz. I had a feeling it would work fine because other smart devices say the same but connected fine. I didn’t have to do anything special with my router or phone to make sure it connected to 2.4GHz. As for the remote part. It recognizes a roku tv I have on my wifi network automatically and is in app without programming it and has all the functions the roku app remote offers. As for other things like a space heater by twin star it doesn’t have as a model but I’m able to program each button press and assign it to a button but button names aren’t accurate and u can’t rename a button which I think is a big miss seeing how if they let u add remotes not in their database that they prob aren’t gonna have the same name buttons. I have a shark air purifier which is a big name brand and shark was not listed in their database and had to manually assign buttons to their generic app remote and didn’t have proper name buttons to match and once again a renaming button feature should be available. The range for the remote to work isn’t that great but maybe it’s cause the remote is one that has to be aimed at the appliance. I did unplug it for a day or so and nothing was saved except my wifi name and was able to auto put in password for it. I’m using iPhone 13 pro max

Greater than one weekThis worked great for a year and now is slowly dying. I’d look elsewhere or wait for an upgraded model.

> 3 dayI purchased this as an accessory for Google Home. I use it to control my living room entertainment center and my ceiling fan. The functions for the entertainment center that translate to Google Home are very elementary - change channel, on and off. I cannot pause my DirecTV box or restart, nor can it control the volume. Also, it doesnt recognize on from off - it just sends a signal. So, if the TVs off and it gets a command to turn the TV off (via a Bedtime Routine), it will turn it on. Same with the fan and the fans light. You can, however, control the speed of the fan with Google Home, so thats a nice feature.

> 3 dayThis device does a good job controlling each of our three motorized roller shades. You can also set up a group so it controls all your shades at the same time. Our motorized shade has a customizable mid position feature which is triggered when holding down the stop button on the remote; unfortunately I could not figure out how this Wi-Fi device is activated as a hold button.

> 3 dayThis is the only option in the market and it works, makes any applices with remote smart for cheap. Interface is very straight forward. I very like it, i bought it twice.

> 3 dayI bought this specifically to use as a smart remote to control one item in my house with my Google Mini. Never did I thought that I would be able to control my entire home movie theater with this Broadlink. Very small and compact to start with so it is easy to tuck it away somewhere in your home to keep it out of sight. The app is for the most part user friendly but you do need to have some knowledge on how to program universal remotes to get the full potential. I love how you can build scenes on the app and Google Home recognizes the scenes and you can trigger them with a simple voice command once you program the Broadlink scene(s) into your Google home. The one con that I am finding is that being that it is IR technology, you would want to place it where the components that you want to control like you would with a regular remote controller in a place where it has almost a clear line of site to the said components. Aside from that, it is a great IR Blaster and having the RF technology onboard is an added bonus.
