Bucilla Sugar Plum Fairy Christmas Stocking Felt Applique Kit, 85431 18-Inch

My Mom made Buvilla stocking for us when I was born. They still get pit out every year and are a cherished Christmas memory. When I started having kids I wanted them to have this special homemade stocking to cherish as well. Yes, they take hours and hours. I started making Noth my kids the November before they were born and both werent finished until the next Christmas. They are so beautiful when you are done all the time is worth it. I was a beginner when I started, and my seeing skills are still not great, but Ive made 5 of these now and loved making each one. Its a great stress reliever to focus on something so simple as needle in, needle out. There are definitely mistakes on all mine dont be discouraged if your stitches are uneven or your french knot looks bad. When your done you dont even notice the little mistakes.

I have just completed this project and it met all my expectations, even nicer was I did not run out of any beads or threads, as has been the case on previous stockings, this makes seven in total, one for each of my grandchildren.

This is a lovely kit, and I enjoyed putting it together. It was a fun challenge. Having said that, it is not for a beginner. It requires tremendous patience and a lot of time. The parts are small and intricate. The gold thread used in a lot of the stocking unraveled quickly and did not fit easily through the eye of the needle. The kit does provide plenty of thread and beads, though. The result is lovely if you have the time and patience to do this project.

This was my first time sewing or embroidering and I was able to get through it. Its very time consuming but not too difficult if you have patience. I wanted to post a completed picture so that it can help others. Youtube videos helped a lot!

Beautiful stocking for a little girl, but extremely intricate and tedious work is necessary. Much more complicated than any other Bucilla kit I have worked with. In addition, The felt cut out patterns ran off the felt, so that 3 of the gingerbread people had only 1 arm, 1 leg and 1/2 of their head - I had to find enough scrap to make my own pattern. Would not recommend unless you are looking for a time consuming, frustrating project.

The thread is the worst I ever worked with. Breaks easily and is cheap.

The instructions for this stocking were not very detailed, but f you are familiar with these types of projects you will be fine. I wouldnt recommend for the first timer. I thought it ould take forever since there is a lot of detail, but the assembly went fairly quickly. I have done 6 of these now, and this one is my second favorite. If your girl has a long name, the cupcake may not be enough space. I needed to shorten Whitney to make it fit. that was the only downside to this very cute stocking.
