Love, love this lens. Takes such beautiful pictures.

Great all around lens. I have a crop sensor camera so this is pretty tight (80mm equivalent), but I really like taking portraits.

I like the extra capability the lens gives me, as I am a beginner hobby photographer. I am excited to use this lens more! I read about the crop factor before buying it, I’m using a rebel t6, and it definitely is cropped and zoomed in more but it’s been fun to just try other ways to get my pictures to work. But if that’s a problem for you I wouldn’t recommend getting this lens. I also don’t like the cap that much that protects the front of the lens, it feels like it’ll come off easy which annoys me a little but it hasn’t popped off yet so hopefully it’ll just stay on if I’m careful.

Wonderful lens. At f/1.8 it drops off on the corners, but not so bad on APS-C cameras, and its also a bit soft. But, close the aperture 1/2 stop or more and you get sharper images, even in low light. I use this lens on both a 7D mark II and 5D mark IV and use higher ISO to get astounding images in very low light, like a 60 or 70 watt room light. In my experience, it has a nice sweet spot from f/2 to f/3. Dont get me wrong, at f/1.8 the images produced are still stunning and the softness will only be noticed by pixel peepers like me. You have to use a fairly high shutter speed in low light because there is no IS, but that hasnt been a problem for me. I use this lens mainly for indoor portraits without a flash.

This is an excellent prime lens. The picture quality is great and Ive been getting amazing bokeh in my portraits at f/1.8 and great detail in some landscapes and street scenes at higher f stops. The lens feel solid in the hand and has a metal backing. This should be the first lens you buy after your kit lens and the price is very affordable.
