Canon EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 is STM

Absolutely LOVE this lens!! I had a Tamron 24-300mm lens that was very hard to focus. It kept making whirring noises as I tried to focus. I still used it for years and got good photos from it but it didn’t have image stabilization and I was tired of the difficulty in focusing. I read reviews to find a better lens and I’m so happy I purchased this! Even though the Tamron is 300mm and this is 250mm, this is a far superior lens in terms of ease of focus, clarity and detail of photos. The photo of the black capped chickadee shows the remarkable detail and sharpness. I highly recommend this lens and only wish I had purchased it earlier. Tremendous value!

We often have a gathering of loons in the lake at the cottage but could never quite get close enough to take a detailed shot. With our new Canon Lens it is no problem.

Love it- and it’s so quiet

Excellent Telephoto Lens. Bought it along with Canon EOS Rebel T5i. A wonderful lens for photographing animals, and also a very good lens for portraits. Gives me the best bokeh effects that I love. It also has Image Stabilization which helps in reducing image blurs.

There really arent a lot of lens that are as good as this one for the price. I have used this lens for both sports and wildlife and it does the job well. That being said this lens is not a 70 - 200 2.8. It is limited in low light situations and it is not the sharpest lens ever but, it is sharp enough for most people. I would recommend this lens to most people. For under $150 I cant imagine that you could get better than this lens.

I am not disappointed with this purchase. This is a quality lens. Not quite an L but almost. Great clarity, minimal aberrations, and a silent motor. I also got a great price on Amazon. All in all, very happy with this lens.
