I highly recommend this game to any board game playing family. My son just turned eight and has already mastered Catan for Kids to the point that he isnt allowed to play with the other kids. I was a little concerned that it would be difficult for him to pick up the mechanics of the game but I very happy to see I was wrong. He is already making me take my kid gloves off and I have to play him almost like I had to play back in college. Ill have to start getting the expansion packs just to keep up with his enthusiasm. Catan does a great job of focusing the players attention on the overall strategy required to win, a huge boon in these modern times of mobile games that are just screentap contests. Get this game, play this game with your family, thank me later.

Great game! The order arrived on time and in excellent condition. The whole family enjoys playing this-- from age 7 and up! (Incredibly everyone but the oldest person in the family has even won a game or two!) I really like that there are no bells and whistles to this game, the game pieces are little wooden shapes, which feels a little different (nice!) compared to the normal plastic pieces that we are used to in our day and age. Its a fun game in that even when its not your turn per-se you still need to pay attention to the board and you can still barter/make trades with the players. (In other words its way more engaging than Monopoly, haha) Also the time factor is really nice-- it takes about two hours to play, give or take 20 minutes. (Again, unlike Monopoly!) Ok ok, let me verify I am NOT against Monopoly, but when you have a 7 year old youre working with (or 35 year old), games can NOT take all day. Really. Anyway, back to Catan. Great game! Its definitely a winner in our family!

The game looks like fun but the instructions are woefully inadequate and assume and awful lot of knowledge for first time players. We had to go online and do a tutorial before we could figure out how to play. We would have preferred to be able to have enough instructions to be able to play right away or at least know in advance that wed have to go online and do a tutorial. Also the game was in brand new packaging with missing pieces which made understanding the directions even more difficult. We thought we new what the road pieces were but the instructions said to take 15 of them in your color. Since there were only 14 of the orange and the blue pieces, this made it even more confusing and more difficult to get started. We had to paint two of the extra red and white pieces (we had 16 each of them) before we could get started. At this point, we still havent been able to actually play the game since were still learning how to get started. Once we watched a tutorial and figure out how to play, it was a lot of fun and were looking forward to getting better at strategy.

Awesome game. Its fun to play but not the best for marriages ;) Can be one of the funnest and one of the most frustrating games. It is 70% luck, and 30% strategy. I just wish it wasnt so expensive. Theyve definitely strategized their marketing well because I want to buy the expansion packs and all.

Love this game! If you like strategy games you should get this. My one issue is that theres a cap at 4 players. There are expansion packs and add-on themes that make things more interesting and allow more player, which I plan to get someday, but dang that adds up for just a game. Its a bit pricey to like this game.

I had originally given this to my adult son as his Christmas request. After he taught me how to play I bought one for myself! It might seem a little much to learn but after one trial game you easily get the hang of it.

This is my favorite game! Its for everyone and never gets old!

My fiance and I played this for the first time with some friends and LOVED the game, so I got it for him as a gift. Weve had so much fun playing it! Its so strategic and each new game feels totally different depending on who you play with and how the board starts out. Super fun, highly recommend!
