They say its the game of our generation. I dont know about that but its absolutely my favorite game. You can play with 2 players with minor modifications, but I think the best thing is to add on the Traders and Barbarians expansion pack. Using the cards in that pack instead of dice is a great way to control some of the randomness that can especially make 2-player play difficult. You can also look up ways to play with 2 players online. (Just google 2 player catan)

Gave this to my college age granddaughter for Christmas. She said it was incredibly hard to learn at first and the instructions were not clear. Once she learned it with the help of a roommate they play it often. It is long but especially good on a snow day.

Wonderfully addictive game where every session can be different. The box feels nice and sturdy and so do all the pieces.

This is a great game to play with friends. Just the right amount of game length, and changing boards keep the game interesting every time.

This is absolutely my favorite board game. It is really easy to learn, has lots of different aspects to it, and because of the changing game board it feels like you are never playing the same game. I absolutely love it! I wanted to give this game a 5-star, but I was really disappointed to find that it was missing a lot of the red pieces which really makes this a three player game since we dont have the pieces we need for the 4th. Thats a pretty major problem for a fairly pricey game, but it just didnt seem worth it to send the whole thing back. Since I mostly just play it with my son anyway, weve made due without the missing pieces. Ive seen we arent the only ones who have had this problem too, so I would check/count your game pieces carefully if you do decide to order this game.
