Awesome game!!!!

We have a family of 5, so we did have to buy expansion pack. This game IS SO MUCH FUN! Will definitely recommend to play with family. I have a 16, 13, and 10 year old. We all loved it and played over and over and over again.

Love this game. Came with everything, and was perfect. Got an extra blue piece but Im not complaining. Now I want the extended edition!!!

We love this game and have played for hours and hours! We don’t always play by the rules, we sometimes play until we’ve used all our pieces to keep the game going longer.

This is a fairly pricey game but it is really an investment if you are a group that has patience for strategy. I see that this is better played with older children who can accept being undercut or blocked from developing their assets but adult modeling and support can give some children social skills to play from 7 and on. Strategizing either comes for the younger child or not and I can see that some will lose interest.

Catan Is a great board Game. Ive had lots of fun playing it with my friends, and Im all for buying US made items. However, for 44 dollars I expected this board set to be of higher quality. A lot of the cardboard Pieces tore when I tried to punch them out. There are some really high quality sets on etsy and other sites, they seem worth the money if you are going to be playing a lot with friends and beverages.

I guess I should have read the reviews, but I was too excited to own the Catan family of games for myself that I didnt bother. The new design of the pieces doesnt really bother me from an aesthetic standpoint. What irks me is the binding layer of the graphics to the pressboard. As other reviews have stated, the quality of the punch tools leave much to be desired. Some pieces are removed easily while others require either a careful amount of counter pressure to remove without ripping or a willingness to live with some of the graphic layer removed from the piece. Luckily I planned ahead in the direction I removed the pieces so that any graphical damage would appear on the back of the pieces. (Still unfortunate but unlikely to affect game play). The thing that is more upsetting is the fact that some pieces were missing on a brand new set. I understand sometimes issues happen in manufacturing (counts get off, assemblers get distracted, machines are miscalibrated, etc.). Having counted all of the pieces and found that a couple were missing and followed the instructions included to email Mayfair games to request replacements. As the form letter email I received informed me, it turns out that they are no longer handling support for Catan games. That support has moved to Asmodee North America who appear to be a clearinghouse for support of multiple game lines. Asmodee NA has a slick form to fill out that includes the name of the games, the type of issue (including missing pieces) and a field to enter descriptions of the issue and pieces needed. They issue you a case number and then you wait. Well in this case, I wait until I get another email a couple of weeks later saying that they are awaiting reprints of the game (not quite sure how that affects the wooden pieces I was missing) and it will be a bit (unknown amount of time) longer until they are able to fulfill the replacement order. Im rating this as two stars because I dislike that the quality seems to have dropped and pieces are missing. I am also disappointed that Mayfair didnt handle this themselves. I hope to update this review in the future to a more favorable rating depending on the outcome of the Asmodee Customer Service team.

Got this for my 11 year old who loves board games. The whole family loves it and looks forward to playing, much better than some of the other games we have played (monopoly gets old fast). Also, love that the board changes and there are options to expand, which keeps it new and fun. Excellent game.
