> 24 hourWhatever room this is in turns the air into crisp, clean mountain fresh air. My horrible allergies (red, swollen, itchy eyes, red skin, headaches, sneezing, coughing, trouble breathing) are gone wherever I put this miracle machine. If youre like oh maybe this wont work that one dudes one star review with a mold infestation said the air purifier was not as purported to be like he has bigger problems that an air purifier wont fix. Im going to buy one for each room now. Im obsessed.

> 24 hourI purchased this air purifier in June of 2018 after it was clear I had to do something with the air quality due to frequent fires we have had in Southern California. It works really well during the last almost to be two years. I have not turned on ionizer because I was not clear whether or not it would be harmful and I left the question for the future. Now however, with covid-19, and being inside all the time, and hearing conflicting messages whether or not covid-19 is airborne or not, except it could be spread from the human droplets and other human fluids. The question what we are to do if we are outside, it is windy, six feet is no guarantee we cannot be affected by the infected person complying with the six feet distancing. So being afraid to open the windows and air the house out, I kept the window closed except late in the evening I left them open, each room separately up to an hour each to prevent any draft. I love the fresh air. After a long time not using an ionizer, I decided to try it on. At first it was pleasant, and even generated a slight scent, which was okay but leaving it on for longer, I have mine on auto settings, with one cat in a household, works really well, the scent became heavy, almost nauseating. Dont get me wrong, this is still an excellent product, at least it worked out for me so I am giving it a five stars alll the way, and I agree with all the other reviews having a good experience. The question of an ionizer is not clear to me though since the numbers do not mean too much to me. For the Coway manufacturer, it would be good to explain more about the ionizer installed in this unit, whether or not it generates an ozone which would be dangerous to human, and animal health, and how long we should leave it on to avoid the heaviness that I started to feel/smell. I went on to a google, and researched how long should one leave the ionizer on, and the answer is no longer than five to eight hours. So there you have it. Once I turned it off, the smell was quickly gone, and I left the air purifier continue its quite performance. I had a feeling leaving the egg spread bowl open, it left the after taste on the spread as well, after the ionizer was already off or was a little bit residual in the air still, hard to say but lesson learned, not to leave it the ionizer on for more than five to eight hours. I looked everywhere in the attached booklet that came with the unit but found nothing specific about possible ozone and recommended duration for an ionizer without feeling the heavy ions in the air. The good news is, that according to the google search, ozone smells like a chlorine, and the smell I had was nothing like that, so I am just hoping this ionizer does not generate ozone. It would be nice to have that comment in the instruction booklet. Thank you.

> 24 hourI like the eco mode best where the filter senses the air quality and only turns on when the air quality gets bad. I can just leave it on eco mode and not think about it again. Highly recommend!

> 24 hourThis is the best air purifier I have ever owned. I love the timer and air speed controls. I like the ionizer option. The filters are expensive from the manufacturer, but better priced on Amazon. This air purifier is working great to keep my house purified due to the current air pollution-wild fire smoke currently in the northeast where I live.

> 24 hourI just bought my second Coway Airmega - because Ive had the first one for 5 years, it still works great, and I needed a purifier in another zone of my home. This time around, I needed something for my office. The microphone I use for calls somehow picks up pretty minimal background noise - but this purifier is perfect. The 1st level is nearly silent, and level 2 is quieter than our bathroom fan. I typically put mine on level 3 to sleep, because its really good white noise. I really like that this model uses a pretty big air filter, so it catches a lot. Every time I clean the filters or replace them, Im impressed by what it picked up. The ONLY downside to this air purifier is the notification light on the top - theres an indicator light that changes colors depending on air quality in the room. When trying to sleep, its pretty bright, so weve covered the light with tape. Other than that... its so nice, I bought it twice! TLDR; if you want an air purifier that packs a punch, but also has a super quiet setting, stop looking and buy the Coway Airmega!

> 24 hourThe eco mode and air quality sensor is a nice feature, and the low fan mode is whisper quiet with pretty good airflow. My main complaint is that the air quality light is big and bright and cannot be turned off. You will want to tape something over it if you want to sleep at night.

> 24 hourBought one of these for one of my kids who has asthma. They use it at their moms house. It improved her breathing so much that I bought one for my house. This and proper preventative maintenance has helped reduce asthma attacks dramatically. PROTIP: Find the filters on Amazon, and set it up on Subscribe and Save for every 3 months. Once the filter arrives, replace it immediately. Do that every three months and youre good to go. Since its on subscribe and save its much harder to forget about since they just show up (PS: Do the same thing for your toothbrush heads).

> 24 hourI am amazed with how much this machine sucks up! 1/4” of pet dander after 2 months, so now I will clean it more frequently. With a Lab whi goes in and out, and 2 cats, my allergies are much better now that I have this contraption!

> 24 hourI read all the other reviews and was motivated to buy this particular product and I am VERY GLAD I DID. It is so quiet and I can feel it working which is great!!! The packaging weighs a lot more than the actual product so be aware when lifting it. I simply took a knife and cut it away and then it was easy to move to my apartment. ONE NOTE: I HAD OFFERED THE DRIVER A SUBSTANTIAL TIP TO DELIVER IT TO MY DOOR BUT THEY UNFORTUNATELY (FOR THEM) DID NOT READ THE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY... SO I HAD PIZZA FOR DINNER TONIGHT:) GREAT PRODUCT. WORTH THE EXPENSE!!

> 24 hourUPDATE: Yesterday our backyard door was unintentionally left open. When I found it, our neighbors had already gone through their dose of nicotine and it smelled like they finished it in our house. Fantastic. I closed the room off (165 sqft), cranked the fan speed to 3, turned the ionizer on, and set the timer for 1 hour. After 2 hours (vacating the area for an equal time as the ionizer is used) I walked in and the lingering smoke smell was no more. Original: First Id like to point out that the manual does not give any instructions about the ionizer. What it is for, when to use it, how it can be harmful in some situations - nothing. The only reference is showing where the button is. I stumbled across this information before purchasing and bought the Coway AP-1512HH because there was a switch for the ionizer. However, I did expect some instructions as to when and how to use the ionizer to minimize harmful side effects. Please research this before purchasing if you have respiratory problems or using this around babies. You CAN use the ionizer option safely, but should not be in the room (or house for extra measure) while in use and for the same amount of time after it has been turned off. With all that said, I am still very pleased with this purchase. I bought it over competitors for 3 reasons. The first is the option to turn off the ionizer. Most air purifiers do this however but the switch meant I could compare it to non-emitting filters as well. The second is the cost over a 4 year use. After years of use, the savings after totalling up filters and product was $100 at a minimum. I compared it to Winix 5500-2, Levoit LV-PUR131S, and Honeywell HPA300. Winix filters are very expensive and cost twice as much as the Coway after 4 years. Honeywell was on the other end of the spectrum but the upfront cost of the product kept it costly. The third is the noise level being 3 dB lower than the rest. I plan to use it around my newborn, so this became a factor. This is not to say the other products are loud. The fact it lined up with the cost layout simply provided more reason to purchase it. Even at the 2nd fan setting, I kept checking with my hands if it was actually running. It was and it did not disturb my wife nor I throughout the night (set up 2 ft away from the footboard). Now my anecdotal evidence for its effectiveness has to be understood and taken as that - anecdotal. One night of sleep is a terrible data set. But I felt such a difference the next day that I wanted to share right off the bat. I had the Coway running for 3 hrs on the medium setting (ionizer off) before we went to bed. For the past weeks, I have been waking up with irritated eyes and a very scratchy throat (NOT COVID). I actually would wake my wife up throughout the night when scratching my throat in my sleep. After 7 hrs of sleep, I woke up with barely a scratch in my throat and my eyes were totally fine. All other factors remained the same, so Im impressed with the change literally overnight. My next steps will be to run the filter before leaving for work and a few hours before we go to bed. Will update the review if anything significant changes. TL;DR - Add to cart. Research if ionizers fit your need before turning the option on.
