Greater than one weekA very nice product. Looks great and is very quiet except on high which really moves a ton of air. Most importantly, it works! I have several allergies including, unfortunately, a minor allergy to my dog. Since using this product, I notice a very substantial difference. I used to wake with stuffed sinuses and something’s a bit of breathing trouble. After two weeks, these symptoms were fine. I never believed HEPA filters could work on a room scale level, I was wrong. Room is about 300 square feet with 9 foot ceilings. Works great. Completely happy with this purchase.

> 3 dayIm not sure how this is so highly rated. Although it does work, more or less, for the price it really has many issues of poor design. Some of the features you are paying for are useless because of the way they work. 1. The Air Quality Indicator is useless. It stays blue (meaning good) even at readings that are clearly high on my 2 separate Air Quality meters. For example, with an AQI of 90 and PMI2.5 of 35 (both of which are definitely too high and cause problems for my asthma), the indicator on this unit still shows that the air quality is good. From reading other reviews, I think this is a design defect and not just a one-time faulty unit. 2. Because of the problem with the Air Quality indicator, that makes the Auto and ECO modes useless as well. If I turn on Auto, it just stays on low fan speed (which is very, very low) all the time. And on ECO mode it seems like it would just never turn on, although I didnt test that extensively. Apparently the air quality would have to be pretty severely bad for this unit to register that its out of the good range. Whereas I need something to try to make the air quality as good as I can get it, not something where a moderately bad air quality is considered good. (There is a sensitivity setting for this indicator, and I had it set to the most sensitive setting. So the issue would be worse at the medium/ standard setting.) 3. The Fan speeds dont make any sense, meaning manual operation of the speed is also problematic. Speeds 1 and 2 are both quite low and dont do much. Speed 3 is then a very large amount of air moved and very loud. In other words, speed 2 is not in the middle between speed 1 and 3. Its much closer to speed 1, and then theres a big jump from 2 to 3. So I guess it would work if you wanted to manually leave it set to Speed 3 100% of the time. Otherwise, there is no speed that meets what I need much of the time, which is a middle speed. Again, after digging deep into other reviews and customer questions, I did see someone else reference this, so its not just a one-time defect in the unit I received. 4. Other misc notes if you do decide to buy this - The Air Quality Indicator light is very, very large and bright, lighting up the dark room when I tried to sleep. Although the user manual doesnt mention this, you can hold the Ionizer button down for 3 seconds to turn off this obnoxious light. - Moving and unpacking the unit as shipped could be problematic for some people. The Coway box it ships in is fairly large and bulky, about 20x22x13, so quite a bit larger than the unit itself. So although its not really heavy, if you have short arms and have to move this anywhere before unpacking, it might be a little difficult because of the bulk. It also means you have to be able to lift it almost 2 feet to get the unit out of the box (theres an inner box that is a very tight fix inside the outer box) or turn the box over. So again if you have short arms or have any strength limitation issues, the unpacking might be a bit of a problem for you even though its not super heavy. Also note that the AC power cable has plastic tightly wrapped and taped around it, and there isnt any way to get it completely off without cutting. That could be dangerous if you accidentally cut a little bit into the AC cable while trying to get this off, so please be careful. Its also difficult to remove the plastic bag on one of the filters without cutting, so you do need a knife or scissors to unpack and set this up. Overall, Im not happy with this at all and am going to buy something else. Update: I decided to give this one more chance. After trying it again, two further observations: - Even with an AQI (on my separate monitors) of close to 150, and PMI2.5 of around 50, the air quality indicator on the unit still shows blue = good on the most sensitive setting, so the auto mode still wont kick up being the lowest level - The unit has started making a whining noise, in addition to the normal fan noise. The whining noise, while not incredibly loud, is more obnoxious and annoying than the white noise of the fan, because its more of a constant tone.

> 3 dayWirecutter rated this tops in a recent air purifier review so we gave it a try along with two other highly rated brands. This is the best of the three. Has an auto mode with a sensor so you can leave on all the time - when in this mode it is silent unless the sensor detects bad air and bumps up the fan speed. Covers a large area. We think it looks pretty cool but we like modern style appliances.

> 3 dayYou can just tell the air is clean. Its in the master bedroom, approx 300 sqft. I am allergic to a dog we got for the family after having dogs most of my adult life prior to having kids. Immune systems change....so this thing helps during sleep and when in the bedroom in general for my eyes. I have zero respiratory problems when in the bedroom as well, not stuffed up at all, but I will preface by saying I dont really have any breathing issues in other rooms the dog is allowed in either. So do not take my word on respiratory quality after purchasing. I used to have dogs as I said so somethings up now and I bought for my eyes solely, another major part of allergies and what hits me the worst. I have eye issues in the house in all other rooms if in them too long, except when spending lengthy time back in the bedroom and of course sleeping. One might think its obvious that sleep is okay even without an air purifier because you close your eyes, but if you know, you know. Without, if your eyes bother you, theyll physically hurt even when closed sometimes, all the way to wanting to scratch the daylights our of your tear ducts during the day. And then when you wake up without better air in your bedroom in this case, youll end up with puffy eyes and massive eye crust, way more than a nights sleep without exposure to the clean air. ALL GOES AWAY WITH THIS. I even have high cathedral ceilings in my bedroom. Starting at 8ft on one side with a pitch to well over 14ft in a room that is just over 300sqft. The auto mode seems effective even for the added cubic feet in the room (remember CADR rates are based on 8ft ceilings), but my wife doesnt like it when it kicks up to medium sometimes while sleeping. It does work though, the dog will literally come in and sleep on the floor at times...and wouldnt you know..Mr. Mighty mitigates her footprint in the air. Run it on high during the day and change the air over as often as possible in a bedroom when no one is in it if its too loud for you and it will be more than effective even if just permanently set to low at night instead of auto unless youve placed it in too large a room. It is too loud on high. High is like sleeping in a hotel room in a humid climate location where they let you change the thermostat temp, but the fan is ALWAYS programed to be on. If you cant deal with that kind of white noise, then do not plan on using this on high when present. It can be barely heard on low and you cant even tell its on. Medium is certainly tolerable depending on your tastes. Easy to clean pre-filter. Put a quarter over the air sensor light at night if it bothers you, its the light, not the sensor itself. Hope the HEPA filter last a long time. It should, my dog doesnt shed and I have mine sitting on a wide dresser at the end of the room across from the bed for a reference point to the distance, placement and noise factors. Perhaps if you are looking for this for a pet that sheds, especially a cat of course, then your filter may not last as long as advertised. I get a sense after all of the research that while these are good for pet allergies too, they are designed for folks that have serious environmental allergies, but this DOES work for me for the dog issue with my eyes. Hope this helps someone.

> 3 dayI did notice a huge difference first time I let it run not so much after but I guess that means it was working. It does catch when something has been sprayed in the air so it’s definitely reading the air in the room. Great product.

> 3 dayI dont want to be one of those giddy-with-first-impressions folks in not testing a product thoroughly for months before posting a review... but this thing makes me wanna do just that. It arrived simple & understated.. and by that I mean, unpacking was easy and it did not take brute force or cleaning stray pieces of styrofoam for 30 minutes after unboxing. It slid out, I removed two pieces of protective styro caps, and unwrapped the shrink wrap. I took off the plastic wrap from the filters (which were already in place so I didnt have to read a book of instructions first to figure out where to put them). Then I simply plugged this sucker in, and it worked on auto right out of the box. It was like unboxing an Apple product -- so intuitive, so seamless, so simple. Kudos to manufacturers. And of course, as first impressions go... it looks good. So I love it even more because its pretty. Aesthetics aside, it is also built well... and perfectly sized. I attached photos to show that its not too tall, nor is it too deep. It is a bit shorter than my nightstand, which is of an average height. Its a bit on the wide-side, but you can position it however you see fit. It does need about a foot on the right side to allow for proper air flow, and probably a good idea to keep the front end free & clear since the circle is from where it pulls in air... but I found this guy could be positioned in many places throughout my home without being an eyesore. I have it in my bedroom currently, but I plan to buy one for my family room as well, and maybe the basement also. It really does work. My bedroom is often very stuffy, especially in the winter when we have the heat temperature set to 73 degrees -- I like it warm & toasty, but my nasal passages feel otherwise. I do suffer from pollen allergies, as well as mild allergies to dust mites, grass, ragweed, mold spores, and pet dander (although I still have 2 shed-heavy fur-babies.) But my allergies are never bad enough to warrant any real attention, I just suffer through it since theyre pretty mild. HOWEVER, I keep saying mild when in all reality, I didnt know the difference between no allergy and mild allergy until sleeping one night with this purifier running. Man what a difference. My nose was not all dry and cracked up feeling on the inside. It also was not runny or scratchy, which is how it often feels after running my humidifier all night (which I run to keep my nose from feeling so dry!) This machine does not mask the issue, or dampen it, or freeze/cold draft it away.... it CLEANS THE AIR. I know, I know... its hard to imagine, but boy is it easy to feel. I slept for the last 2 nights like a newborn baby. Granted, Ive only had it for 2 days but the difference from walking into my bedroom vs the other rooms of my home, cannot be ignored. My home isnt particularly old, or stuffy, or dirty, or dusty. Yes we have pets, but I am a Dyson maniac and we have a brand new HEPA HVAC filtration system; we have our ducts cleaned regularly; and, there are no smokers or other reasons for contaminated air (at least that I can find.) However, when plugging this thing in... it ran a blue and then purple light for a bit on auto, but then changed to RED (which freaked me out a bit as it sounds rather aggressive). And it ran that way for about 10 minutes. I left it to its job, and when I returned a little while later, it was back to a blue light and I could barely hear it running anymore... but the air did in fact feel lighter, crisper, and easier to breathe. It felt much like the very first time I walked onto my hotel balcony in Vancouver, Canada and took in a giant breath. It just felt... clean. Air quality is a legitimate thing, and having poor air to breathe makes life a less tolerable for people with allergies or lung issues. Again, not something I suffer from necessarily, but I appreciate the cleaner air this provides nonetheless. So I cannot imagine how much better breathing could be for someone that does have serious allergies, asthma, or other breathing troubles. I would say this gem is a no brainer, if you do. But even if you dont, youll still notice the difference after plugging this guy in and letting it run for about the first hour. I do think the auto feature could become a bit of a power monger as I have never witnessed it turn off after being on auto as if to say okay, Im done. All clean. So I do set the timer feature when Im not going to be upstairs and I shut it off when Im leaving the house for awhile. Another thing to note is that there are studies about potential harmful effects to lungs when using the UV and ion cleaning features. It is recommended that you only use these settings when not in the house as breathing in UV treated air is said to be harmful as a result of O3 air, similar to breathing in air high in ozone levels. So I only set my purifier with these features when not in the room. I cant yet speak to durability or filter tolerance, but they are priced reasonably enough that changing once or twice a year would be totally acceptable. I will update if I find that longevity or level of purifying impact worsens, or if cleaning/upkeep isnt as great with this machine moving forward, but for now... I am a Coway air purifier believer. ** UPDATE - after 7 months of constant use, I will say that my initial reactions were still pretty accurate in that this purifier does do what it claims to do. I notice that it is reactive to smells, smoke and other air-purity issues when they are occurring, even when I am simply cooking sausage or something extra smokey or fragrant in the kitchen -- while I have this unit upstairs in my bedroom, which is a considerable distance from the kitchen (bedroom in front of the house on 2nd floor, kitchen in the back of the house on the 1st floor.) So I know that it indeed works because I can hear it begin to run rapidly when I accidentally burn something or even when making bacon or something that has a smell or odor. I also know that it is filtering dust and pet hair, because both of my Coway purifiers (I have one upstairs and the tower unit downstairs) needed HEPA filter replacements at 6 months. The manufacturers suggestion is 6 months for the carbon odor filter, and 1 year for the thick, HEPA filter.. but my HEPA filter was so dirty at 6 months that the change filter light came on for the tower unit, so I figured I would change this 1512HH unit at the same time, and it definitely needed it. The filters were both clogged with so much dirt, dust and pet hair.. I couldnt believe this stuff was floating around my house for it to grab. In fact, even strands of my hair were in the filter! And my hair is pretty long, well below shoulder-length. I figure it must have sucked it in from the floor. Pretty cool purifier... I still give it 5 stars and 2 thumbs up after 7 months of use.

> 3 dayWhen I first turned it on the room, red, dark purple, indicating the room was polluted after four hours of running on high, the light is now blue.. fan on high is extremely noisy. Fan on low is OK and I had no problem sleeping.

> 3 dayThis thing works. I can drop some cat hair near the sides of it and the hair will be sucked into the air purifier. Initially the air purity light was red and now it stays blue unless I cook or something in which case it goes to purple and then back to blue once the air is clean. The HEPA filter was pitch black in about two weeks and I replaced it, the new one is staying pretty white because most of the dirty air is gone now. This thing cleaned up my apartment air very nicely. Sticking with it.

> 3 dayVery quiet and efficient. Filters dust, animal hair and smells. We use puppy pads for our little Yorkie and it always changes color when she poops. Easy to move around the house. We move to the kitchen when cooking fish and it gets rid of the smell. We’ll buy another for our bedroom-super quiet on #1 setting.
