> 3 dayBought this to replace the stock plastic extruder on my 2020 ender 3 pro before it had a chance to crack, and because I was already installing a printermods direct drive kit so I figured it was a good time to upgrade. While the extruder is easy to install and works great, it DOES NOT work with the printermods direct drive kit(which I got from Fargo3D) without a fix. The printermods mounting adapter for the extruder is designed for the plastic Creality extruder so it wont work on this metal Creality extruder. The part of the base where the filament leaves the extruder is shaped differently. The printermods DD kit product page has STLs for different extruder mounts to print but the one that should work on the metal Creality extruder base doesnt quite fit it so it cant be used either. If you are comfortable editing and adjusting STL files in whatever CAD software you prefer then this is probably an easy fix. Since I am not designing or editing prints yet my solution was to use the new metal extruder lever on the old plastic extruder base. This configuration works fine and the plastic extruder lever thats prone to cracking got upgraded to metal so Im happy. If I ever find the right DD kit extruder mounting adapter or can design one then Ill swap on the metal extruder base.

> 3 dayAlright so the product works great but Theres a very important detail missing. The ender 3 pro has its extruder gear press fitted to the stepper motor. If you want to replace it with the one in this kit you will need to heat it with a torch till its glowing red before you can take it off. Alternatively you could also buy a new stepper motor

> 3 dayMy main issue with this kit is that the included Capricorn tubing is totally asymmetrical. The hole is not in the center of the tube. This causes the filament to hit the inner edge of the nozzle rather than sliding to through cleanly, leading to significant under-extrusion. Be very careful to check the tube dimensions when you cut and install the tubing. I unfortunately didnt notice this initially, and needlessly replaced my nozzle thinking that it had a mystery clog that was restricting flow. Nope! Just bad tubing from this kit.

> 3 dayEasy replacement for my stock one after a coupler snapped in half inside of the top of it.

> 3 dayIt is well-made, but still grinds filament when doing a lot of retractions. I upgraded this to a dual drive gear after a few weeks.

> 3 dayThis is a lot quieter while feeding, less slipping and all. Works as expected, great way to get your toes wet in learning more about your printer and accessories.

> 3 dayEasy install off the bat, on Ender 3V2. Had a clogging issues because I didn’t seat the ptfe tube far enough into the extruder but once I cleared the jam and reinstalled it works very smooth not catching or dragging of the filament. Springs are very stout curbs the issue of contatantly having to relevel the bed.

> 3 dayI started having no end of issues with our Ender V2. Prints were garbage sometimes, acted like the bed wasnt level, filament balled up under the nozzle, and so forth. Spent forever cleaning off the plate, tweaking the leveling and Z offset, etc. Finally after some Googling, determined my issue was inconsistent filament feed. Replaced the stock feeder with this one, and everything was back to normal - prints like it did when it was new. Took about 20 min to swap out, all the parts seem to fit fine. The stock feeder is craptacular junk. Get it off there and replace it with a better one. Our original one lasted for about 2 kg of PLA before we started having issues. Im only two prints in, but so far so good. Dont know about longevity yet. You may want an even better one if you use more abrasive filament or use it a lot more than we do. For ~$11 Im happy with it.
