Greater than one weekThe original CP5-BBS cellulose cartridges I previously purchased and used performed well in our whole-house, big blue filter housing. They maintained their shape and kept the output water sediment-free. The currently manufactured filter cartridges do not maintain that performance, and apparently Culligan knows that. If you read the current label from the manufacturer, it states that the cartridge is NOT recommended for use with untreated well water. It also says the filter cartridges are assembled in China. (I do not know if that is a contributing reason, but merely add that observation.) I find the cellulose material in the current batch of filters quickly saturates, gets soft and mushy, and falls apart. The outer filter material collapses and renders the filter useless, while the inner diameter structure remains intact. Consequently, the filter cartridge must be replaced much more frequently than in the past. Past filters DID provide the labeled 3 months cartridge life; the current filters must be changed after 4-5 weeks, under the same water demands. When initially installed, these filters do filter out the offending sediment from our well water. They just do not last! Ill finish using the filters I have in-hand, at the much shorter useful life, and find a more robust designed filter cartridge filter for the future.

> 3 dayI recommend that no one buy this filter, in fact anything from Culligan. The quality of this product has changed in recent years such that it should be banned from the market. The problem is that the polymer endcaps fail in what is called punching shear. I have used this make and model of filter for 10 years without a single problem until this past year. I purchased a few years supply of filters at once (as I normally do) in 2010 and noticed the endcaps were of a softer material than in the past, but I didnt think much of this since these endcaps also serve as the gaskets. However, upon removal of this filter after using it for a few months (my typical use) I discovered the filter medium and endcaps had collapsed (not disintegrated) like an accordion, while the center core remained straight and at its original length. Closer inspection revealed the endcap had failed in a ring around the point of contact with the filter housing. This is the location where a separate gasket would be on top of the filter. Unfortunately, this did not turn out to be a one-time occurrence. The exact same failure has happened with three subsequent filters, even though I cut the use period in half. Clearly, this whole batch of filters is defective. I have been in contact with the manufacturer (Culligan) over the past few months, and after some limited success at getting them to respond (which was a struggle I might add), they have eventually stopped replying to my emails. This is very poor for public relations. At first, I got several excuses as to why this was not their problem, the most interesting being their claim that the filters I bought were not made by Culligan because they were not purchased directly from Culligan. I informed them that I purchased them from Amazon.com, but they still maintained this argument. I scanned the label on the filter, which clearly shows their logo and contact information (which I had used to contact them) and they became even less responsive. Then I placed the next logical step in the investigation for them to answer, and that is when they ceased to respond altogether. This statement was that if they claim they have no material defects, and since they feel the filter is a counterfeit knock off, then why havent they pursued legal action against the supplier to Amazon? I must conclude that they indeed discovered a material defect with their product and dont wish to continue the discussion for fear of later litigation. I have since researched and found alternate brands of filters (I use both a sediment filter and carbon filter in my system) and will avoid ever using Culligan products again. I will also recommend to anyone that I can to avoid this manufacturer. That is what has compelled me to write this review.

> 3 dayEven though not recommended for untreated well water, Ive found this filter to be highly effective. We havent had any problems. They remove much more sediment than the R50-BBSA filter (50 micron). Before switching, washing cars left a noticeable haze on the finish. Using these, that haze is almost gone. Our well supplies two houses, lawns, gardens, and up to 300 head of cattle, so it gets a workout. We use two, plumbed in parallel and getting around 6 weeks before replacement. Once they start to plug the flow rate drops off faster than the R50-BBSA. What I expect with a finer filter.

> 3 dayI continuously buy these for our home filtration unit. We have private well water that has a ton of iron in it. Amazon has one of the best prices on this particular filter that Ive found and Im always very pleased with shipping and speed of arrival. Probably due to how much iron I have in my water but this filter never quite lasts as long as it is rated for. I usually change it about every 5-6 weeks when they are rated for around 12. I change it more frequently or I start to see very small amount of residue begin to build of in the toilet and shower heads. As long and they are changed to the month(ish) range Im really pleased with their performance and will continue buying and using them for my home.

> 3 dayIm pretty happy with these filters they work great. I set them up as a subscribe & save so every 3 months I get one in the mail automatically that way I never have to remember when to replace it. In the summer when I run the sprinklers and fill up the pool I switch it to bi-monthly. Our water here in the SW suburbs of Chicago is very hard the filter seems to take quite a bit of it out. The advantages that we can see are less mineral deposits in the dishwasher. I have also noticed that the filters in our RO water system came out allot cleaner this last time so maybe Ill experiment with letting them go a little longer. 1 YEAR UPDATE so Ive been using them for almost a year. And I must say im still very happy with their performance. The subscribe and save price has gone up by a dollar and change but doesnt bother me enough to find a different filter. I have had NO instances of my unit falling apart, tearing or disolving so these other folks must just have terrible water or be leaving them in WAY too long! Drained my water heater about two months ago and not too much sediment came out unlike in past years so they are definitly helping. (when I replace the filter its completely covered in rust deposits and I mean COMPLETELY covered. Its amazing what this thing is catching!) Im keeping the 5 stars they are pretty cheap and work well so all in all I think its a pretty good value.
