> 24 hourI decided to take on the challenge of building a cutting board from scratch for my lovely wife. I watched many videos on how to properly seal and give longevity to the well manicured butcher block. A friend of mine suggested, “try walrus oil”. This sounded highly illegal and inhumane. In the southeastern region of the United States, this particular mammal is considered ultra rare, however, squirrels are plentiful. I hunted early in the morning and captured a dray of squirrels. I don’t believe in waste so I cleaned them and made biscuits and gravy from my great grandmothers recipe book. I rendered the fat to a fine oil. 12 squirrels provided enough to coat one board and feed my family of 2. Because I am a cutting board novice, I didn’t think it through and the blood soaked butcher block was resisting the squirrel oil. I resanded the boards and after noticing google had monitored my search history an add for this product appeared. I was shocked walrus oil was bottled and sold. I read the contents and this actually contains zero walrus material. Relieved, but feeling duped, I ordered a bottle. It went on with ease and gave the boards a perfect shine. Animal lovers like me, have no fear, this product is not what you think! It’s better!

> 24 hourI bought this to use on a new bamboo tofu press. After I was done spreading the oil on the press, I decided to use the rag on my teak armoire. It looks amazing! I then used the same rag on several other wood furniture items. Unfortunately, I did not take any before photos, so after photos wont mean much, but everything looks beautiful. I think the oil will end up being very economical because that same rag can probably be used again and again if stored properly. I highly recommend; also made in the USA!

> 24 hourI forgot to take a before photo but this product brought new life to my collection of vintage teak items. I did a fair amount of research before selecting this product, because I didnt want to cause any damage to the wood. I used a tea towel and was able to treat all of these items with multiple coats using only half the bottle! The wood drank up the moisture and restored the beautiful wood grain textures and color to its original vibrance! And now they have another great protective layer for many more dinners to come! My only complaint was that the oil comes out of the bottle super fast, but it only took a few tries to get the hang of how hard to squeeze the bottle (I ended up just tipping it to the side and letting it pour out on its own). I also bought the wax for my cutting boards and my cheese dome to protect it from the elements when sitting in the fridge.

> 24 hourI had an old cutting board that had never been treated after it was purchased. After 2 pretty heavy coats over 3 days the board was very sealed. Since those initial treatments Ive done one more light coat after many washings. Very satisfied!

> 24 hourThis is a really nice product for oiling wood. However, the dispensing hole in the top of the container is very large, so its difficult to use the product sparingly -- it just gushes out. And the bottle is lightweight, so if youre not careful to cap it while in use and accidentally knock it over, youll have a high volume of spilled oil due to the large hole. For this, I downgraded it to 4 stars. I usually apply oil directly to the wood then rub it in with my hands. With this I think it would be better to put some in a small bowl and apply either with a cloth or fingertips from there to avoid wasting so much of the product.

> 24 hourLove this stuff. I use Walrus Oil brand for everything that I make for kitchen use. I use it on cutting boards, cheese slicer boards and rocking pizza cutters. So much better than plain old mineral oil. I have a bottle of name brand that has been sitting on the shelf for years. I guess that I am keeping it for backup but seem to always have Walrus Oil on hand and never use it. i also use Walrus Oil cutting board wax. I also use Walrus Oil furniture oil I most everything else that I make from wine displays, bottle stoppers, custom hunting knife handles to a trestle table that I made.
