> 24 hourWith all of the monitors out there today, its hard to tell the good from the bad without performing extensive research. This research needs to be combined with a bit of luck as it would be cost prohibitive for every site to cover the full product line from multiple manufacturers. The monitor that was replaced by the Dell P2014H was a 23 LG with an IPS panel. My prior effort to use a HP w2071d to achieve the desired resolution for a budget computer system resulted in excessive visual fatigue that would be exacerbated when dark images would appear. The backlighting on that 20 inch monitor was abysmal. My priorities for the display were: 1.) IPS panel 2.) 1600x900 resolution 3.) Digital input The Dell P2014H appeared to be the best of breed based on the aforementioned criteria. The overall image quality and performance is absolutely fantastic, especially at the price point that Amazon sells it for. On top of a solid image with fairly balanced backlighting (tad bit lighter in the lower right-hand corner, but not distracting or outside of expectations in this range), you get additional features that come in handy: 1.) Integrated USB hub: Using an AmazonBasics keyboard, the integrated USB cord was a bit too short for the placement of the mid-tower. Running the keyboard through the integrated hub resolved this issue, and made it easier to connect additional peripherals. 2.) Rotating display: While it would be nice to have an accelerometer or gyroscope to allow the monitor to auto-trigger the shift from portrait to landscape format, two clicks of the mouse and a quick 90 degree rotation of the monitor completely changes the dynamic of viewing websites, reading long documents, and even developing websites. The text is crisp and the mechanics of rotating the monitor results in a smooth and effortless adjustment. 3.) Adjustable height. The Dell engineers have built a solid and user-friendly stand that permits modification on the fly. Monitors that cost more than the P2014H are normally bound to a fixed stand and may result in discomfort of the neck during extended use. Be sure to download the latest utilities and drivers from Dells site to further optimize the image quality and power consumption of this display.

> 24 hourI am just getting ready to return the third sample of this monitor that has a YELLOW TINT issue. My original order was for two P2414H monitors to use side by side on a Mac Pro. One of the monitors from my original shipment has a beautiful crisp, clear, and color accurate display. The other monitor from the same delivery had a very annoying yellowish tint that affected all colors displayed on the screen and cannot be corrected by calibration. I returned the defective one for a replacement and received another monitor with the yellow tint problem. I returned the new replacement and received a third monitor with the same yellow tinted display. I have one sample of a correctly functioning monitor so I know that Dell is capable of manufacturing an excellent product. Ive tried to get Amazon to contact Dell to get the issue resolved. So far, all Amazon will do is continue to replace the monitors that I return or provide a refund. The experience has been extremely frustrating. I recommend not purchasing the P2414H until Dell acknowledges the problem, recalls the defective units, and FIXES the root cause. All of the units are Rev A00 (including the one that does not exhibit the problem). They were manufactured in July 2013.

> 24 hourDisclaimer: I am a very knowledgeable about LCD technology and can spot almost any flaw, no matter how small. The reasons I took off a star will be unnoticeable/non-issues to the vast majority of people. I bought the P2214H for someone else, and they are completely happy with it. However, in my reviews I factor in both value-for-the-dollar as well as my personal desires irrespective of price considerations. For the $180 I paid? Impressive. I didnt think I could get an IPS with an adjustable stand at this price. And I was glad to see that the extreme graininess of older IPS monitors has been greatly reduced. Good: Not hideously grainy-looking like older IPS monitors. Good, adjustable stand. Low input lag (important for gaming). Easy-to-use menus thanks to physical buttons that sit adjacent to their respective OSD functions. Bad: Though the custom color modes default settings are spot-on (according to Lagom), photos do not look as natural as they do on my ASUS TN (TN is just a different type of LCD) from 2009, which was surprising since TN is an older, cheaper LCD technology, and is supposed to have inferior color quality relative to IPS. But this is not due to any kind of defect with the Dell. I looked into it and found out why my old ASUS has better color: the backlight. The ASUS uses a CCFL (long, thin glass tube) backlight with a wider color gamut than the LED backlight found in the Dell. This is actually typical of LED backlights versus CCFL backlights (found almost exclusively in older monitors). Still, it was a real disappointment, as Id been hoping for better color, not worse. My one big negative. Not bad for gaming, partly due to the rock-bottom input lag, but not as good as gaming-oriented TN monitors. I noticed more motion blur on this than my ASUS. But that was expected as IPS is designed for greater overall image quality, and not specifically gaming. Higher refresh rates would be appreciated. This is actually a shortcoming of every monitor out there not marked 120hz or 144hz. I was able to overclock the Dell to 70hz but that was it, and it completely broke video playback on some websites due to incompatibility with content protection standards. I cant fault Dell for this however because its an industry-wide problem. Most people just dont care about having higher refresh rates.

> 24 hourAs a programmer, Ive been using a combination of a 30 monitor and a 20 monitor for years. This combination works great because the 1600 pixel height of the 30 monitor matches up perfectly with the 1600 pixel width of the 20 monitors. Recently, I decided to setup a similar setup at my shop - and purchased a

> 24 hourPerfect monitor for home office use. Best thing, fully adjustable. I use dual monitors for my home office and bought a second one, I was so pleased with the first. I don’t game, so I can’t really speak to that. The picture quality is perfect for my work.

> 24 hourI purchased the Dell P2214H IPS 22 LED monitor 6 months ago (used). It arrived in perfect condition. The display is crisp and clear. I use this system (Windows 7 Pro x64) for code editing and so I greatly appreciate the ability to swivel it 90 degrees, allowing many lines of code to be viewed/edited. I am not a gamer or a graphic artists so I cannot speak to its responsiveness or color reproduction. If I must purchase another monitor I will look for another just like it.

> 24 hourWhen I first plugged the monitor in with VGA I was disappointed that there was substantial ghosting (i.e., text would appear to have a shadow). I had the same problem with another VGA cable, so I bought an inexpensive HDMI to DVI cable (this monitor doesnt have an HDMI input) which solved the problem. The monitor looks great, is really easy to adjust, and I love the portrait mode for when I have to read through long documents. If youre in the market for a 24inch monitor for primarily work related tasks (no idea how it would perform for gaming), this is a great buy.

> 24 hour+ Colors are absolutely brilliant, especially once calibrated + Minimal backlight bleed on my unit, less than most IPS monitors in this price range + I MUCH prefer glossy panels to matte, and Im delighted to find that the matte finish on this doesnt detract from image quality + No inverse ghosting + Very very low input lag... more than fast enough for gaming + Cost when I bought it, $210 is a steal + Stand is fully adjustable... height, swivel & tilt + VESA mountable + DisplayPort, DVI, VGA connections + Comes with DisplayPort & VGA cables + Power on indicator LED can be turned off + Dark scenes are dark (black looks black not gray) + 1920x1080 resolution is the sweet spot for gaming -/+ IPS glow is present (like on all IPS monitors), but unintrusive - No HDMI port Ive used this for a variety of games including FPS. While fast motion/framerate handling cant compare to the 120Hz+ TN monitors out there, I have no complaints, and IMO the tradeoff in speed is worth it for the amazing image quality you get with an IPS panel. If you need a 120Hz panel youre not looking at IPS anyway. If youre looking for a beautiful, affordable IPS monitor that behaves admirably when gaming, look no further. This is the one.

> 24 hourI have several of these Dell ultra sharp IPS monitors and I love them. I especially love the fact that it has an eight way mount and is height adjustable. Monitor has great viewing angles and excellent color reproduction. The monitor is not quite calibrated for professional photos, however Im not doing professional print work so the exact color profiles are irrelevant to me. Probably one of the better values in monitors.
