I run a three-monitor setup at home, all Samsung 206BW (16:10) displays from a few years ago. When one failed, I set out to replace it with a 1080p display and settled on this Dell. In short, this has turned out to be a fantastic display with very good clarity, very even backlighting and excellent color reproduction (owing to its IPS panel, vs. the TN panels in my old Samsungs). I was a little concerned about the response time as I also play games, but I notice no ghosting or lag at all during gameplay. Do note, however, that Im not into twitch games or fighting games where ultra-low lag would be most important. Its worth mentioning to others considering a purchase that text looked absolutely horrendous on this Dell right out of the box, which is unusual in my experience. It turns out that this was due to the monitors Image Enhance feature which comes turned on by default. Turn this feature off immediately, then calibrate both color and ClearType text (if on Windows) and you should have an excellent picture.

LOVE IT! I have vision problems and my big concern was that the native resolution on a larger monitor would be too high for me to see, but this is perfect. The screen is super bright, the colors are great. I still have one of my little 19 square monitors next to it and it looks so dim now.

I have a 21 Apple iMac and wanted to go dual screens. This one is the best match I could find. It is the same size screen and same black bezel and aluminum stand. To connect it I had to purchase from Apple their Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and a standard DVI monitor cable. With those two items in hand, I plugged the Apple adapter into one of my Firewire ports and the DVI cable to it and then the monitor. My iMac automatically recognized it and now I have dual screens! Nice.

It is the same monitor my company provide. So I had previous experience with it. It has a high quality resolution and very dependable monitor.

+ Colors are absolutely brilliant, especially once calibrated + Minimal backlight bleed on my unit, less than most IPS monitors in this price range + I MUCH prefer glossy panels to matte, and Im delighted to find that the matte finish on this doesnt detract from image quality + No inverse ghosting + Very very low input lag... more than fast enough for gaming + Cost when I bought it, $210 is a steal + Stand is fully adjustable... height, swivel & tilt + VESA mountable + DisplayPort, DVI, VGA connections + Comes with DisplayPort & VGA cables + Power on indicator LED can be turned off + Dark scenes are dark (black looks black not gray) + 1920x1080 resolution is the sweet spot for gaming -/+ IPS glow is present (like on all IPS monitors), but unintrusive - No HDMI port Ive used this for a variety of games including FPS. While fast motion/framerate handling cant compare to the 120Hz+ TN monitors out there, I have no complaints, and IMO the tradeoff in speed is worth it for the amazing image quality you get with an IPS panel. If you need a 120Hz panel youre not looking at IPS anyway. If youre looking for a beautiful, affordable IPS monitor that behaves admirably when gaming, look no further. This is the one.

Ive been using three of these for a few months now and Im very happy with them. I mostly use them for programming and gaming. They look great and I love being able to change their orientation easily. Portrait orientation is great for reading long documents or looking at source code, and the tilt and height adjustment is helpful to keep them in a comfortable position. I can easily view 3-5 source code files side by side on each of them. I mostly play Counter Strike and have not noticed any input lag, and Im pretty picky about that. There is no splash screen when you turn the monitors on. I like how configurable the monitor settings are. For example, you can make the power LED stay off while the monitor is on. I think smaller monitors (maybe 21 or 22 inch) might work better for a triple monitor setup because you wouldnt have to turn your head as much and they would take up less desk space, but these are great if you have a big desk. I have not been able to drive any of these monitors over VGA (I tried all 3 of the cables that came with them). The screen flickers and looks really bad. VGA isnt really meant to drive resolutions this high though, and it isnt a problem for me.

Overall I like my monitor. Pros: - I love the ergonomic features. Height, tilt, swivel and pivot! - Text is OK. I code... a lot. Ill be updating later one after a year of use. Caveats: - I liked that it came with a DisplayPort. However I was sad to find out I couldnt use it because my laptop had a mini-displayport instead. My bad. I bought a mini-display port cable (Accell B143B-007J UltraAV Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.2 Cable) and the image quality is a lot better than using the hdmi-dvi cable cable I had. Text is sharper, cleaner. - Still, I think text could look better. I remember reading some reviews here about disabling some image enhancement feature, which I think I already disabled. Ill double-check this and update if I can get the text to look better upon further inspection. - I also bought this monitor to be able to hook up my micro-HDMI windows tablet. For some reason (maybe the cable) the text doesnt looks as good as in my office Dell U2412M. On my office set-up I use and micro-HDMI to HDMI cable. At home, I first tried the HDMI-DVI cable but everything looks fuzzy with that one. I was disappointed I couldnt use a HDMI-to-DVI adapter as the design of the back of the monitor doesnt have enough room. Ill need an HDMI 270 degree angled adapter (which I just bought) to make it work. Im hoping for the best here. Is all of this too much hassle? Its for you to decide. Its all in function of your time and money to make your set-up work for you. Cheers!

With all of the monitors out there today, its hard to tell the good from the bad without performing extensive research. This research needs to be combined with a bit of luck as it would be cost prohibitive for every site to cover the full product line from multiple manufacturers. The monitor that was replaced by the Dell P2014H was a 23 LG with an IPS panel. My prior effort to use a HP w2071d to achieve the desired resolution for a budget computer system resulted in excessive visual fatigue that would be exacerbated when dark images would appear. The backlighting on that 20 inch monitor was abysmal. My priorities for the display were: 1.) IPS panel 2.) 1600x900 resolution 3.) Digital input The Dell P2014H appeared to be the best of breed based on the aforementioned criteria. The overall image quality and performance is absolutely fantastic, especially at the price point that Amazon sells it for. On top of a solid image with fairly balanced backlighting (tad bit lighter in the lower right-hand corner, but not distracting or outside of expectations in this range), you get additional features that come in handy: 1.) Integrated USB hub: Using an AmazonBasics keyboard, the integrated USB cord was a bit too short for the placement of the mid-tower. Running the keyboard through the integrated hub resolved this issue, and made it easier to connect additional peripherals. 2.) Rotating display: While it would be nice to have an accelerometer or gyroscope to allow the monitor to auto-trigger the shift from portrait to landscape format, two clicks of the mouse and a quick 90 degree rotation of the monitor completely changes the dynamic of viewing websites, reading long documents, and even developing websites. The text is crisp and the mechanics of rotating the monitor results in a smooth and effortless adjustment. 3.) Adjustable height. The Dell engineers have built a solid and user-friendly stand that permits modification on the fly. Monitors that cost more than the P2014H are normally bound to a fixed stand and may result in discomfort of the neck during extended use. Be sure to download the latest utilities and drivers from Dells site to further optimize the image quality and power consumption of this display.

I am not one of those people who knows all there is to know about ICC profiles and gamma correction, etc. I just know when a monitor is bugging my eyes like crazy, and looks off in about every way. I got this monitor delivered to work and played with the settings all day yesterday. I also looked at what settings others had said were apparently good, and tried those. I started to doubt my eyes. But after I got home and looked at the other 27 monitor I have there (different brand -- you can find my review on that one if youre interested), it was immediately apparently that it was not in my head. This one is maybe half as good, and it was actually $20 more expensive than the other one. The bottom line is this: there are MUCH better monitors out there for the same price (cheaper, in fact). And, if youve ever seen a Dell monitor that looked off and just couldnt be dialed in, this one is exactly like that -- just bigger. I wish it wasnt true, but it is, at least for the one I got. I have returned it (that part went flawlessly -- thank you Amazon), and am going with a slightly different model from the same brand I have at home (different only because I need VESA mounts for work, and that one only has a stand).

I like the three-way adjustments (height, tilt and pivot); the clear but non-glare matte screen; the three USB2 ports, and the high resolution compared to 1680x1050 monitors. It came with a VGA and an HDMI cable, and the USB2 master cable. In fact, there is nothing to complain of except that this is not a 22 monitor. It is 21.5 diagonal, meaning that instead of 11.75 display height you get 10.5. The difference is very noticeable. Still, because of its good points, I would probably buy it again.
