Dyson V12 Detect Slim Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

Greater than one weekI recently went on a quest to find the best cordless stick vacuum I could find so a did a ton of research and honestly, a lot of the research online seems to be very biased. I did finally find one site called rtings.com that really helped me narrow some choices. I first tried a wild hunch on a Hoover One Power Pet Plus Stick vac that had some good reviews but I found out later it was a bit outdated. It cleaned pretty well on Boost mode but otherwise was useless on standard power mode. I could only get about 10 minutes use out of the battery in boost mode. The worst part was the battery charger was funky in that it couldn’t do a consecutive charge without rebooting it by unplugging the power. Returned promptly. Next, I decided to try a Dyson V8 after comparing it to the Shark and Samsung which RTINGS clearly declared it the winner of the three. I was very impressed how well it performed and even though it was twice the price of the Hoover, I deemed it to be worth it. However, something was bugging me about the V8; it seemed outdated for 2023 technology standards. Like a manual switch for low and high speeds when I had read about this new technology called, auto detection. After further investigation, I found the V8 was originally introduced in 2018 and was presently discontinued by Dyson. Returned. Enter the V12. Wow! What a difference!!! The automatic detection works flawlessly and the cleaning head with the green laser light is amazing at revealing unseen dust and dirt on hard surface floors (which was my primary intended use). Then I decided to use it on our high pile carpet and was further amazed at how well it cleaned even the carpet! (Using the included carpet beater bar attachment) It’s also very easy to empty the dirt and dust with their clever no touch any dirt - one button cleaning process. This makes up for the small dirt compartment because it’s so easy to empty after every use. It was $100 higher than the V8, but worth every penny. My only complaint is that I feel the docking unit that mounts on the wall could have been better designed and probably would have knocked a star off for this, but out of six stars, it’s still a five!

Greater than one weekI am enjoing using my new Dyson. I have the Kirby as well, which is a BIG machine. The Dyson makes it easier to pull out and use quickly and easily. As far as the battery life; it depends which power you choose. The BOOST lasts only 5 minutes where the economy will last over an hour.

> 3 dayThis unit is very light. Its easy to use. The battery life makes it almost useless. My wife said no way. Maybe good for very short quick clean in a restaurant or office. The light weight is incredibly nice.

> 3 dayWhy bother buying anything else? We have 10 cats living with us so you can imagine how much we collect daily. Well, our new Dyson does that easily. Our carpets have never that clean. So the choice is easy: Cats AND Dyson Or No Dyson... no cats :)

> 3 dayHave the V8 and it wasn’t keeping up with my long haired German Shepard. V12 battery is great and amazing with hardwood. Ideal for deep cleans.

Greater than one weekHubs has vacuumed for years as a standard vacuum is so big hard to do stairs but this handy vacuum makes vacuuming the whole house a breeze. (It does need to be charged after only doing the downstairs and takes quite a while to charge so I just do the upstairs the next day.) I was surprised at the power and the carpet brushing and am very happy I bought it!

Greater than one weekI was thrilled 15 years ago to move to a condo that had a central vac system - a great upgrade from hauling an electric vacuum around the house. But, even hauling the long central vac hose around the house and using the supplied attachments to vacuum rugs left my back aching and I put off vacuuming for....well, weeks, before I could get the energy up to do it again. The vacuuming was made worse by having 2 pets in the house and the hair that they routinely shed! I purchased my 1st cordless stick vacuum from Amazon in December 2022. I bought it because of a combination of low price and good reviews. After using it a few times, I decided that it was a glorified broom and really wasnt up to the job of handling my carpets easily. I was disappointed with it since it meant that I would still have to use the central vac system for my rugs [groan]. Then I saw a video demonstration of this Dyson V12 and was impressed with what I saw. Using credit card points as a credit towards its purchase, the price was just right. I cant believe the difference between the 2 stick vacuums! The Dyson has a number of attachments included and the 2 large ones that I have used (they easily snap in and out) have handled my pet hair filled hard floors and carpets with ease. And, the thing I love the most is that the cannister collecting the debris is cleaned by depressing a lever over a waste basket. Easy peasey! The vacuum is very light weight, moves easily forward, sideways, under things, and doesnt cause ANY stress on my back! Its compact enough that I can just leave it next to my kitchen counter and use it whenever I want. So far, I love it! CON: It is advertised as lasting 60 minutes. That might be true when using one of the small attachments, but when using either of the 2 largest attachments the display on the vacuum (another great feature!) STARTs with the remaining battery life of 30 minutes. However, that is easily enough time to vacuum the space I have. If I had a larger area, I could just buy another battery and cycle them to get the time I need.

19-11-2024I’ve owned this V12 for only an hour, but if first impressions are everything, I’m in love! Didn’t even need instructions to figure how to assemble and use. Straight out of the box and at about 20% battery, this vacuum sucked the life INTO my carpet by sucking out all the nasty stuff! I previously vacuumed with a Dyson ball, so I was shocked to see the cup fill up with just a quick once over in my living room. The vacuum is incredibly lightweight, powerful suction, flexible with the toolset, able to reach in places previous Dyson couldn’t! I never thought I’d spend $500 on a vacuum, but I couldn’t be more happy to give Dyson money for this incredible yet powerful machine!
