Dyson V12 Detect Slim Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

I had this Dyson V12 Detect Slim for only 4 months before the cleaner head broke. Dyson customer service said it would be replaced under warranty, but unfortunately they have no replacement parts. Ive been waiting over 2 months now for a replacement part and they are still out of stock. The frustrating thing is Dyson continues to sell the vacuum on their site even though they have no replacement parts.

I was thrilled 15 years ago to move to a condo that had a central vac system - a great upgrade from hauling an electric vacuum around the house. But, even hauling the long central vac hose around the house and using the supplied attachments to vacuum rugs left my back aching and I put off vacuuming for....well, weeks, before I could get the energy up to do it again. The vacuuming was made worse by having 2 pets in the house and the hair that they routinely shed! I purchased my 1st cordless stick vacuum from Amazon in December 2022. I bought it because of a combination of low price and good reviews. After using it a few times, I decided that it was a glorified broom and really wasnt up to the job of handling my carpets easily. I was disappointed with it since it meant that I would still have to use the central vac system for my rugs [groan]. Then I saw a video demonstration of this Dyson V12 and was impressed with what I saw. Using credit card points as a credit towards its purchase, the price was just right. I cant believe the difference between the 2 stick vacuums! The Dyson has a number of attachments included and the 2 large ones that I have used (they easily snap in and out) have handled my pet hair filled hard floors and carpets with ease. And, the thing I love the most is that the cannister collecting the debris is cleaned by depressing a lever over a waste basket. Easy peasey! The vacuum is very light weight, moves easily forward, sideways, under things, and doesnt cause ANY stress on my back! Its compact enough that I can just leave it next to my kitchen counter and use it whenever I want. So far, I love it! CON: It is advertised as lasting 60 minutes. That might be true when using one of the small attachments, but when using either of the 2 largest attachments the display on the vacuum (another great feature!) STARTs with the remaining battery life of 30 minutes. However, that is easily enough time to vacuum the space I have. If I had a larger area, I could just buy another battery and cycle them to get the time I need.

I got this mostly for the laser light which is SUPER helpful! It does an amazing job on hard surfaces. It doesnt do as great on area rugs or bigger pieces of fluff. I just bought a house that has no carpets at all and I knew it would be hard to keep up with sweeping and this does the job in one go without the battery dying on me. I did a ton of research and decided to go for the mor expensive dyson because in the long run it seems to be the better option! Will revisit this down the line if anything comes up!

Vacuum main floor in condo

I have a Roomba, I have a broom, and I have a shop vac. The house isnt not getting clean. I ordered this vacuum as a present for myself and it turns out Ive been living in squalor. Running the V12 over a rug I JUST vacuumed picked up enough pet hair for a whole new beagle. I dont particularly like cleaning and have a hard time prioritizing it, but Im not ashamed to admit that the cool laser thing has me doing hours of lights-off hardwood floor scouring. The future is now.

So easy and convenient for cleaning in a rush. Amazing suction and great for floors or couches. I have two large dogs and dog hair is a struggle and this has helped our house so much. Super lightweight and was easy to set up.

Love it…great on all surfaces. The laser is actually useful…you can see the dirt and dog hair. Bin is small but it’s super easy to empty so I’m cool with it. Had an older model which was decent…but this one blows it away with power. Super light and I don’t miss the trigger.

I love the simplicity of this vacuum. Its so easy to run through the entire house daily

Have the V8 and it wasn’t keeping up with my long haired German Shepard. V12 battery is great and amazing with hardwood. Ideal for deep cleans.
