> 24 hourProjector was awesome and works well. The down fall is the lamp only last 3000 hours vs other Projectors that last 30,000 hours. I only used 1 hour and sent back once I realized its not made for long use.

> 24 hourThis is a TERRIFIC projector. Im a trial lawyer, and I bought it to display documents to the jury on a screen at trial. The old projector made it hard to tell whether someone had initialed a document or not. This one, by contrast, made the evidence clear and convincing, as we say in my line of work. Youll love it. You will also need to figure out some way to carry it around, because it is a big mother, but worth the heft.

> 24 hourJust buy it, but plan on having Netflix premium. You wont want to watch anything that is not Ultra HD 4K. I painted the wall with Behr silver screen from home depot. I have 134 inch picture in a 12 foot room. The picture quality is beyond amazing. I just hope this thing lasts for a while.

> 24 hourUnit was well packaged and no damage to the shipping box. When I set it up the focus ring would not turn to adjust the focus. The zoom ring turned fine and zoomed in and out. Shifting the image up and down and side to side with the turn knobs worked. I called Epson tech support and got someone right away. They talked with me a few munities and said it was a hardware issue and return it.

> 24 hourIve used a number of projectors over the years, getting a new one every 2-3 years as the upgrades come out. This is my first 4k projector, but keep in mind this is not true 4k but uses pixel shifting to create a more detailed image. The true 4k projectors start upwards of $5k and get closer to $10k when you factor in HDR, etc. This bridges the gap between 1080p and 4k projectors, and is a great option for multipurpose rooms (e.g. room with windows, family room, etc). I am using this projector in my finished third floor with windows. I have a 50 HDTV on the wall for the kids, and installed a recessed 120 Elite tab tensioned screen with full tower 5.2.2 Atmos speaker setup for everything else (movies). I bought the Epson ceiling mount, which fits perfectly and is very solid. This PJ is big and heavy, so do NOT cheap out on the mount! Its got lens shift and keystone adjustments, so if you are not dead on center or your screen isnt 100% straight, dont worry. The throw distance can be found on projector central, which has a great calculator when you are trying to figure out what size screen you can get and where to mount the projector. I ran a Ruipro 4k HDMI 2.2 cable to ensure I was getting all features available (not all HDMI cables will transmit 4k, Dolby Atmos, HDR, etc). The picture is very bright, and it has 4 setting profiles to select from. To be honest, all the images looked washed out to me, and the blacks are not remotely close to black - more dark gray. I adjusted the picture quite a bit, added a lot of color and increased contrast. Its much better, but still has terrible blacks and poor contrast. I would honestly recommend the 3800 over this due to the increase in contrast if you are very, very serious about image quality. The PJ is relatively quiet except on high settings, where it gets quite loud. Due to the fact that its mounted directly above my head, there is no way I will ever put it on that setting. Mine is on medium, which is still louder than Id like but tolerable. It comes on quickly and shuts down quickly, which is nice (my BenQ took forever). This is my first LCD PJ, as Ive always had BenQ DLP PJs. BenQ was much better with color and black levels, but this LCD is far brighter and has no rainbow effect. Epson bulbs are much cheaper to replace than BenQ DLP. Pros/cons to each. This PJ is good for the money, and a great option for a bright room. HDR looks good, but keep in mind this will never look as good as a 4k HDR TV. Its simply impossible to get the colors and contrast of a TV set, though you can obviously get a much bigger image with the PJ. My family loves watching movies, and watching them in full Dolby Atmos surround is incredible. This is a good, affordable option in the projector world. Hopefully within the next few years, true 4K projectors become affordable.

> 24 hourThe projector has converted one of our room upstairs into a movie theater. I am going to keep the review to basics for everyone to easily satisfy their most common use case - watching variety of movies at home with readily available stuff at home. It connects with our bluetooth sound far, the picture rate is fast moving and bright - even with the sun coming in from the windows in the room, there are ample adjustments to adjust the horizontal and vertical pictures, the zoom and the sharpness, we have plugged in a chromecast in the back, and can simply stream using any device with the chromecast - meaning netflix/prime from iphone/ipad works, the supplied remote works great. We have seen all sorts of movies and shows including action, sports, cartoons, music videos, documentaries. The inbuilt speakers are handy - of course, much better to connect with other home theater speakers or sound bars. (If I were to pick one thing to improve - the protective cap for the projector lens - have it attached with a cord or have a slide on cover mechanism so that we dont have to keep track of it when you remove and kludge put it back on. ) This projector is not even comparable to our earlier old projector - difference of day and night. The family actually wants to use the media room now to see movies.

> 24 hourProjectors have to serve a lot of different needs. Some people need them to be used in a brightly sunlit room during the day. Others need them for 3d movies. Others need the projector for text and images. All of us probably want a great picture and large screen wow experience. I have a dedicated theater room that is painted with dark brown walls and ceiling and blackout curtains. It is like a movie theater. I do not have to worry about brightness of the projector. That gives me some tradeoffs with this projector. This projector is EXCELLENT for a bright room that needs extra lamp power to overcome the brightness. For me, that means I can run in ECO mode and the fan is reduced and the brightness is still very good - and my blacks are better too. This is a pretty good projector for a theater room setup. It is also pretty good for a sunlit room setup as well, but you will experience tradeoffs. By running in full brightness mode at an insane 2900 lumens, the projector can actually be functional in a bright room. The fan will run a good deal more, and it will be noisier to overcome this - but it is better than having a weak picture. The colors are bright and saturated and the image is CRISP and CLEAR. For those who care about the details, it is not a true 4k picture, but for practical purposes and to many people, it is so well done that it gives the performance of a 4k picture at a fraction of the cost. Right now, a true 4k projector is VERY EXPENSIVE. The Epson Home Cinema 3800 4K PRO-UHD 3-Chip Projector with HDR gives you the look and feel of a true 4k image without the obscene price of a true 4k projector. It is large too - in most installed setups, this should not matter. If you are carrying it around as a portable unit, this could matter. Overall, this is a great budget choice projector that can handle very bright room installations (think of a living room with windows that dont get completely dark or a classroom or court room or business conference room.) If you are a true aficionado of high end projectors, this may fall a slight bit under the top end projectors, but it also falls a good bit under the prices of those projectors. I have a lot of friends who have MUCH CHEAPER projectors than this, so it is a fairly upper-mid-range projector and you will absolutely appreciate the many extras and higher performance of this projector. It does 3D and it will absolutely handle a bright room - feature that a great many people need and wish for. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a GREAT PROJECTOR at a price point of around $1,500. I would not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends and Epson is a great brand name and projectors are one of their EXCEPTIONAL product lines. One comment on that... Most companies are known for being really great at CERTAIN PRODUCTS. Epson is known for printer and another one of their excellent products is PROJECTORS. Right now, with the exit of Panasonic from the projector market, Epson is very possibly right there with Sony and maybe one other brand among the top-3 projector companies out there. You cannot go wrong with this projector in my opinion as long as you know the quirks and they dont affect your situation. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me via my Amazon Profile and I will try to get back to you asap. I take great pride in trying to help others know which products are good and which ones to avoid. I feel like we can all help each other by doing a great job of letting others know our experience with the products we buy here on Amazon and I think it is very rewarding to know that I have helped someone choose the right product for their situation. Thank you so much for reading this review!

> 24 hourI have a dedicated home theater room with a 120 inch screen, surround sound, etc. I had a Panasonic projector that did OK for a number of years but its now about 8 years old and I was getting more and more disappointed with the image quality even though its a 1080 projector. My problem was that Id see something on my LG OLED and the Panasonic didnt come close. Theres also the fact that it was getting old and I wanted a better picture. Ive waited and waited for better projectors to hit the market. I wanted 4K but the prices were prohibitive. But, manufacturers started selling sorta 4K (my term) with HDR. So, I jumped in with this one. Setup was incredibly simple. I plugged in my HDMI cable, plugged in the power, turned it on and voila - it worked. I had to mess with it for a bit for my screen size and I had to dial down the color mode. The factory preset was dynamic which would probably be great for a bright family room but in my blacked out theater room - not so much. On that subject. There are four color mode presets - dynamic, bright cinema, natural, and cinema. You can change settings within each of these and you can save those changes. I have mine hanging from the ceiling and was able to adjust everything so the picture was straight on the screen. I dont use the speakers but I did give them a try so I could see what they were like. Theyre pretty average stereo speakers that do an OK job. If I was using this now and then in a family room or at work Id be happy with the sound but I prefer my 7.2 home theater setup. With 3000 lumens and 100,000:1 contrast ratio youd expect a great picture and you wouldnt be wrong. Like I said before, I had to dial the brightness down for my home theater but its nice to have it if I ever need it. I purposely watched the same movie (Avatar) back to back with my old Panasonic and then the Epson. No contest. The Epson was significantly sharper and brighter (in a good way) than my old 1080 projector. After movies, I fired up the XBox and played some games. I dont have any 4K games but the games I do have were much crisper than they were with the Panasonic. Ive tweaked a few settings since I got comfortable with this projector mostly because I could. Other than the color mode (brightness) it was really OK out of the box. Is it better than my 1080 projector? Heck yes. Is it better than my LG 65 inch OLED? No but its a heck of a lot closer than before.

> 24 hourThis thing is amazing!!! The picture is bright, the colors are incredible, and the blacks are as black as I’ve seen in a projector! All that and I only use it outdoors where there’s plenty of ambient light. The projection is so bright I was able to watch a movie before sunset. Great product! Thank you!
