> 3 dayEureka NEU182A PowerSpeed Lightweight Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner vs Shark Rocket Professional Side-by-Side Review Background: I recently had to replace a Shark Rocket Professional, because the suction seemed to have been almost completely lost. I was always happy up to that point with it, but as I’ll explain below, after having purchased the Eureka NEU182A PowerSpeed Lightweight Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner, I don’t miss it one bit. Since these are basically the only two vacuum cleaners I’ve owned in my adult life, I’ll be comparing them throughout this review. Weight: Winner Eureka NEU182A This is a very light weight vacuum. I have no issues moving it up and down the stairs to clean them. The shark is significantly heavier. Features: Winner – Shark Rocket Pro. As I mentioned above, I was always pleased with the Shark from the start and one of the reasons is that it tilts with very little effort, it seems to be slightly self-propelled, and it tilts low enough to go under my coffee table. To switch between upright mode and using the hose is a very easy process. The Eureka, however is the most basic model with no bells and whistles. I’m sure they make a comparable model to the Shark, but the one I got was basic. It doesn’t tilt very low, so to get under furniture you will have to move it. Though it is very light weight compared to the shark it is harder to push. In order to switch to using the hose you must shut it off, uncouple the hose from where it attaches to the brush roller assembly, then disconnect the handle and connect the hose to it. This was just one step for the Shark. The hose seemed to stretch farther for the Shark as well and I think the hose allowed more pivoting without kinking. Canister overall: Winner Eureka NEU182A The canister for this is a bit larger than the Shark’s. It also doesn’t have as many pockets to catch dust and dirt and hair on it as the canister for the Shark does. As a result, it’s easier to remove and empty. Cleaning Performance: Winner Eureka – By a land slide. The Eureka, though it is much lighter and cheaper, seems to have quite a bit of power over the Shark. It got my floor looking much cleaner with fewer passes. Noise: Winner Shark It’s not a huge difference in noise, but it is a difference. Cleanup: Winner Eureka – by a landslide. The canister for this is a bit larger than the Shark’s. It also doesn’t have as many pockets to catch dust and dirt and hair on it as the canister for the Shark does. As a result, it’s easier to remove and empty. The rollers on the Eureka seem to somehow be resistant to having hair and string wrap around them. When vacuuming with the Shark I had to clean the rollers by cutting the hair that managed to get wrapped around and pulling it off. This usually ended up being a pretty large pile. By contrast after I finished vacuuming for the first time in several weeks with the Eureka I was afraid to flip it over and look at the brush, but to my shock and amazement they were almost completely clean. The Shark’s rollers looked like they had started to grow hair of their own after the first use. Conclusion: Winner Eureka Eureka NEU182A The Eureka NEU182A PowerSpeed Lightweight Bagless Upright vacuum cleaner really sucks, thank goodness. It’s a great vacuum and will leave your floors clean. It’s light-weight and it did a great job on my stairs and furniture at removing animal hair. It is not a full featured vacuum, but it will get the job done. If you have physical restrictions or disability it may not be a good vacuum for you as it doesn’t get under coffee tables and is more difficult to push as it is completely unassisted. It doesn’t come with any attachments that allow you to reach very high, but you can buy attachments to allow this. Honestly the only two things I can Knock it for are that it doesnt feel super sturdy, which is a trade for being light-weight, and the fact that it doesnt lay all the way down to the ground.

> 3 dayI literally can’t handle the loudness of this vacuum. I will say we live in a home with all hardwood and laminate flooring. There’s no carpeting to muffle or quiet the sound of the vacuum. I rarely ever leave less than a 5 star review on something, because I myself obsessively check reviews so usually when I order things I know all the ins and outs of the product before it’s arrival. Although I got this for a steal of a price ($74) it is so loud it scares my (always loud and fearless) toddlers, and the base / head of this thing HUGE in comparison to other vacuums I’ve had most recently. I religiously use a cordless moosoo vacuum and compared to that, this thing is literally 3x as loud, and looks like a giant fossil beside the cordless. I purchased this because I wanted an option to be able to plug in and not wait to charge but I definitely will not be grabbing for this unless I desperately need something. Pros: the dust cup is huge. Very easy to assemble. Great suction. Light and easy to carry Pro & con: lightweight Cons: louder than a day At the racetrack without ear plugs. Very old school / not sleek at all design. So lightweight that it Falls over when trying to use the hose to vacuum things (and usually wails you in the head or body somewhere) If given the option, I would not repurchase. I honestly would have returned due to the loudness alone if it wasn’t for it being such a hassle due to being a big item.

23-11-2024I was in the middle of Autumn cleaning marathon when the old Eureka upright gave up. I really didnt want to pay 500 dollars for a new one. I searched and saw the 182A and after reading specs and reviews I purchased. So now Ive been using the 182A for 2 days and it excels in deep cleaning. When the old vacuum failed, I used the new vac in an area previously vacuumed and the amount of crud in the canister amazed me. It is so nice not to have to deal with purchasing and replacing bags. The 182A is made of plastic but it seems solid. I dont find it unusually noisy but like the idea that this vac is rolling along and sucking up dirt. I really cant add to the many thousand reviews, but I feel like this a good purchase. Being so light and easy to handle I hope this is incentive to vacuum more often.

> 3 dayI bought this as a temporary replacement for my 20 year old second hand Kirby. I am a Kirby man and always will be, and have ordered a refurbished replacement and will use this until one becomes available. So I will not compare this to that. I will however compare it to the brand new Dyson Animal I bought for $450 which, after 30 days I replaced with a Kirby and thru the Dyson in the trash where it belonged! Dyson claims their vacuum doesn’t lose suction. Well you can’t lose something you never had. In lab testing a 4 year old Kirby G4 was tested against a Dyson Animal and beat the Dyson in every category, producing 7 times more vacuum power with an empty bag and 3 times more power with a full bag. This Eureka vacuum flat out smokes a Dyson in vacuum power, it’s a little harder to push than a Dyson but I attribute that to it actually having vacuum power! At only $80 it far out performs the $450 Dyson Animal I had and is therefore an extraordinary value, it is lightweight, easy to use. The only vacuum I will ever award 5 stars to is a Kirby. But this is a damn fine value for the price. I give it an overall rating of 3.5 stars. Dyson gets 1 star for looking cool and futuristic, but looks don’t clean floors! The only unknown is it durability which is probably not bad if you treat it with care.

> 3 dayThis like new Amazon Warehouse unit was one of Very few items Ive bought Like New that Wasnt; but ok once cleaned up & pieces put on correctly, its Now like new. Also, shipped with no packing (an obvious return re-shipped out as is). Yikes. Anyway, this is my 2nd Eureka Power Speed (Do Not get the Air Speed--no power/suction like this one); my first mega-plastic, Loud but suction-happy Power Speed gave a good fight, but for all its cheap components, gasped its last with 1 squeaky wheel ready to come off & screws falling out of it last week. For about $18/yr, worth every penny. Loved it, as did my aching arthralgic hands, arms. Dont want to use my very nice, deep cleaning vac every day. So, I read Many reviews before getting THIS one, nearly identical to my previous older model. I did Not get the newest, updated version that is already cheaper than this one. As one reviewer said--speaks for itself right there. THIS (Eureka NEU 182A) one actually sounds Exactly like my old one. Exactly. It has identical LOUD motor pitch and amazing suction for such a bargain unit. This one has a better designed, sturdier handle. When I use this vac, dust, pet hair, dirt is Gone...even a day or two later, when following up with my pricey, wieldy, canister vac, theres little to no extra hair, dirt (except when dogs are in shedding season, cleaning new messes, etc). THIS Eureka Power Speed is a formidable (albeit LOUD--cant stress it enough) plastic wonder. I use it on vinyl & wood flooring, tile bath floor, low pile area rugs, and old carpeting on stairs, in hallway. Not used on plush carpets. For quick pick-ups, since 1980s, Ive tried Hoover, Dirt Devil, B & D stick/mini upright vacs, but this is the only one that WORKS. I rip around the house and often end up banging it into stairs, kitchen bullnose, trim, shoes, furniture, etc and this plastic Power Vac takes a fair beating. I would never roughly use my fancy vac like this. I even vacuumed around the seating area on the outdoor cement deck--DRY surface, obviously. Excellent results! Bonus: no rollers to clean, no pricey bags or filters, belts, etc., Plus the cord is Much longer. No extension cord needed. Yay. You.cannot.do.better for under $65.

Greater than one weekI love how simple it was to put together. Also how powerful it removes dirt and dust. The greatest feature for me is the large cannister size. I love it!

> 3 dayAfter several years of declining performance in our circa-1990s Hoover, we finally took the plunge and bought this new vacuum - and we are SO pleased with it, it does a great job! Light and easy to push but with very strong suction, it really pulls the dust and cat hair out of our carpets - and the clear dust receptacle is a big improvement over vacuum cleaner bags, its easy to remove and empty. Excellent vacuum and excellent value for the money.

> 3 dayEven though the vacuum is easy to assemble, I was surprised (disappointed may be a better word), that the instructions were only in French. ?!?!? I still managed to put it together in a couple of minutes, but it begs the question as to whether the unit I received was a returned item and missing something. This did not appear to be the case from the way it was packaged so maybe it was a lack of quality control. Anyway, I tried it this morning before I discarded the box to ensure it worked properly, so I adjusted the height of the base for my type of carpeting and gave it a whirl. I really thought my carpet was clean since I’ve been using my old and trusty Oreck that I’ve had for a very long time. Unfortunately, it recently gave up the ghost so I ordered the Eureka vacuum because of good reviews and attractive price. I said “I thought my carpet was clean” since after just a quick test vacuuming I was amazed at the amount of dust and dirt the Eureka sucked up without any effort on my part. So the performance part gets a huge THUMBS UP! Cons, well, just the lack of instructions in English and a power cord that could be longer. If you have plenty of outlets, you probably won’t mind. If you don’t, you’ll get annoyed pretty darn fast. Also, one of the attachments has no home anywhere on the vacuum (unless there is info in the manual which, again, I’m unable to read since it is written in French). Other than that, this vacuum is a bargain and it works (sucks) amazingly well, so I am pleased with my purchase. I will try to find the users manual online (in English) to make sure I learn how to use it to its full potential. If you decide to get one, I think you’ll be happy with your purchase. Thanks for reading, or as (I think) the French say... merci buckets! lol.

> 3 dayI am very happy with this vacuum. Needed something for pet hair-this does it. The attachments are well placed although I would have liked the side hose to have an extension purchase option or be longer. Cord is plenty long. Very easy to empty. I haven’t cleaned the filter yet so I don’t know if there will be issues after cleaning. Honestly my stain didn’t handle the litter dust and hair as well.
