Evapo-Rust ER012 Super Safe – 128 oz., Non Toxic Rust Remover for Auto Parts, Hardware, Antiques | Rust Removers and Chemicals

Leaving rusted metal in Evaporust over night will get rid of the rust. It will not repair pitting or loss of metal from oxidation, obviously. I use it frequently to restore connective performance with Lionel train tracks. It is advertised as neither toxic nor corrosive to the skin. I have never had a skin irritation from using it, but I would wash my hands quickly after using it. It probably should not be left around children or ingested in any way.

I used to buy good steal knives at junk shops, put new handles on them and sharpen to a razor edge. Good tempered steal knives hold an edge. Unless you have a wife like I HAD that always kept putting them in the dishwasher or soaking them in a sink of soapy water. Basically ruined the knives, handles and all. Decided to try this stuff to see if I can resurrect them back into service. This stuff is amazing! 24 hours soaking and you can see the results in the pictures. And this is a used batch. I just keep adding knives and other rusted stuff. Great thing is you can keep using it. And... not harsh skin burning stuff. As it says, non toxic, biodegradable, safe on skin & eyes. Now some reviews say the rust comes back. Well on my measure scale it did and I’m guessing it’s because I washed it off with water. Soaked it again only this time towel dried it and blew out joints with air. Days later no rust!

Did some research looking for a good rust remover and this works great. Its best if you can place the items into the product and allow to time to have the rust removed. The claim is you can also put it on a rag and cover it with plastic and hold it in place to allow it to work over time but I have not tried that. Everything that Ive placed into the covered small container with this product came out with the rust removed. Ill definitely be buying this again.

It does exactly what it says it will. Im rebuilding an old ATV and every rust bolt I take out I put in a cup with this stuff. Come back tomorrow and its clean. Its pretty darn cool. Between this and some other fun tools you can make 30 year old rusty nuts and bolts, or whatever else, look new.

Works great and cleans up easily. Had some heavily rusted equipment that needed an overnight soak, but it was all cleaned up after.

This is the most impressive purchase I have made in a long time. I don’t know how this stuff works, it defies logic. There is no smell, it’s non-toxic, doesn’t foam or hiss... but no matter what I put in my little pan of evaporust, it comes out looking like new. On the deeper rust it leaves behind nothing more than some darker metal, but the rust is literally completely evaporated. As I’m writing this review, I’m walking around my tool shop looking for anything with rust on it just so I can dip it into the stuff, it’s almost addicting to watch. After wiping off any residue, I hit each tool with a drop of machine oil to prevent future rust. Truly incredible.

I used it for a gas tank of a 1974 Karman Ghia. Tank was not in bad shape but I feel it made it better!

I got this stuff because I am restoring my great grandfather’s tools. I tried many rust remover‘s before this one, and they were so-so. I don’t know what sort of black magic they are using, but the rust falls away, and it does not damage wood.

Wow and Double-wow. This stuff really works! I inherited some of my grandfathers tools. Many from the early 1900s. Most so rusted that I thought they were trash. I soaked the tools for a day and wow! I then cleaned them off with a wire brush and then with a wire wheel on my grinder. I am a very happy man!

I found an old bag of tools in a boat that I bought and they were all rusted. Before throwing them away I decided to see if they could be cleaned. I let them soak over night in evapo-rust and wow, I’m impressed. I was going to throw away the screw driver pictures but decided to let it soak part way to see how much of a difference it made. Now I have hundreds of dollars of usable good tools. I’m so glad I tried evapo-rust before tossing these tools.
