> 3 dayUsed it to restore old hand plane that had rust allover. I did polish most of the rust off first with a wire-brush wheel, but enough rust left everywhere. First time I used it was to restore an old drill press and put parts in shallow container. Lets soak overnight and was totally rust free the next day. Also used it to remove rust from an old hand plane I restored. This stuff also works fast. Im impatient and I only waited an hour or two/three while shaking and moving parts around while soaking. Came out clean once again. Really impressed with this.

> 3 dayFor a product that is non toxic and biodegradable this stuff is amazing. I have had better results with this than any harsh chemical. Yes it works and yes you should buy it

> 3 dayWorked better than expected. My garage was flooded and a lot of my tools got rusted and tried this on a few things so far and the rust came right off after letting it soak for a day. Awesome stuff

> 3 dayIve never used a product for de-rusting that works as well as this. Seriously, the items you put in come out looking new--not just cleaned and de-rusted, but NEW. It leaves no pitting or discoloration and the liquid lasts a surprisingly long time. Just fill a container and use it multiple times. Throw away any other method you have and get this. EDIT (June 2019): I have finally used up my first jug of this. It became very black in color and stopped de-rusting anything, even if soaked overnight. But it lasted a very long time and it died (at least partially) because I was using it to clean cast iron cookware. It turns out that Evapo-rust also easily removes old seasoning from cast iron pans. However, this leaves the dissolved fats in the Evapo-rust, which reduces its effectiveness, so I dont necessarily recommend it for this purpose since Evapo-rust is not super cheap.

> 3 dayThis product is fantastic for light rust and certain kinds of rusted metals, but its effectiveness varies a bit. It always eats off the rust, but the resulting surface might be totally like-new or have a new non-rust substance where the rust was. I tested it on some old tools, and the result on hand tools was remarkable. The wrenches (Craftsman steel alloy) lost the rust, but didnt look as good afterward. Regarding the photos: the one on linoleum is the after (sorry for mediocre lighting), concrete is the before, in liquid is the during. The pilers were really spectacularly de-rusted. Same with the Craftsman philips screwdriver. The file looked much better, the prybar was great, and the needle nose pliers were successes. The wrenches were improved, but not perfect. A bit of grinding work fixed them up, though. Pros: -Removes rust! Im still hoping to try it on some vehicular rust, but it works great for hand tools. -Non-toxic, so I wasnt worried about it burning off my skin. -I used it at below the recommended temperature one round, but it still worked great. -Simple to use. Just soak the items, wash with water, dry, and youre done. -Can be used multiple times. Cons: -Wont work every miracle you might want. For example, dont expect it to release a set of pliers that has rusted shut. It helped on one I tried, but wasnt magic (WD-40 was more effective). -Doesnt stop rust moving forward from the treatment. You will want to put on oil or WD-40 or paint very soon, because the metal will re-rust. Other thoughts: -The stuff is a bit sticky and oily.

03-06-2025Works pretty good. I had rust in my harley tanks. I let it sit for 3 days without removing my tanks. Emptied it out and then rinsed it with a hose. I havent had any problems since. Just kinda pricey.

Greater than one weekThe instructions on the bottle say to soak a towel and wrap rusty item with it. That doesnt work very well and its a huge pain in the testiculars. Soaking the item for several hours works incredibly well. Im genuinely blown away. Already bought a second gallon. Im cleaning up a vintage drum kit that was totally rusted. Almost done all the hardware with one gallon of this stuff. It will look brand new when Im finished thanks to this product. Id give a hundred stars if i could.

> 3 dayI was very disappointed when I purchase my last Gal. of Evapo-Rust and noticed a change in the color from the yellowish color to what looked like clear water?? I thought what happen?? Then I took a look at the labels and noticed that Harris International must have sold it to CRC?? I used the new CRC Evapo-Rust and to be honest it seemed to work ok but when I went to reuse the same batch it did not seem to work the second time near as well as the Original, yellow Harris ER. To make matters worse, where I use to pay between $17 and $21 for a Gallon, now CRC has hiked the price for what appears to be a watered down or different version (even smells different?) up 25% plus to $28?? Ticked me off so bad that they changed a good product that worked great and then to gouge you on the price, well, turned me off of the whole CRC line, if they do this to ER what else are they doing?? too bad, need to find a replacement now. If anybody reading this finds a good one where the company is not sticking it to you please let me know..
