Greater than one weekI have numerous brands of colored pencils ranging from low to high both in quality and price; however, Faber-Castell pencils are by far my most favored. I prefer oil based pencils because the bloom from wax based pencils can cause issues. FC pencils cover very well with few layers. Layering and blending is quite easy as well. The color quality of FC pencils can not be beat. I did create my own color chart that fits in the lid of the tin for ease of access and to see the true color of each pencil.

> 3 dayThese colored pencils are amazing. Their colors are rich and vibrant the pencils are well balanced and easy to hold. I love that the colors on the outside of the pencils are basically what you’ll see on the page. They are excellent for layering. So, why, you ask, did I give the pencils a 4, instead of a 5. Well, after unwrapping my beautiful (and pricey) pencils, the first thing I noticed was that the ivory pencil had a chunk missing from the tip of the pencil and the remainder of the ivory pencil was split, right down to the wood. All of the remainder of the pencils in the top tray had some degree of damage. It was as if the top tray had been dropped, prior to being put into the case. Once the pencils are sharpened, I imagine that all will be well, but I was truly disappointed to see so much damage when I opened my new box of colors. But I do love them and would highly recommend them.

> 3 dayI tried a lot of off-brands and lamented greatly the cost of these pencils but in the end they were the right choice. They are extremely pigmented and layer exceptionally well on the right paper. If you want these for adult coloring books that have a smooth texture I would save money and buy the Arteza’s or Prisma’s but for medium textured paper these are the way to go. I used Strathmore Colored Pencil paper as well as Strathmore Mixed Media Vellum surface paper with great results.

Greater than one weekI had been using LYRA Rembrandt pencils previously. The 600 series of those pencils are extraordinary and are a wonderful product. However, recently they have discontinued this line and thus I was forced to find a replacement product. After an exhaustive search, I decided to try the Faber-Castell POLYCHROMOS pencils. These are also oil based colored pencils and are absolutely as excellent as the former LYRA Rembrandt 600 series product. They draw smoothly and give a truly fabulous rendering with a perfect sheen as would be expected from an oil based pencil product. They are easy to sharpen, hold a sharp edge and truly give everything an artist or draftsman would be looking for in a fine artist grade colored pencil set. The color assortment in this 36 color set is a wonderful selection of the entire line and should be sufficient for everything except the most demanding color usage. In addition, the pencils allow the artist to blend 2 or more colors to get a different color which allows the artist to get precisely the color they need, even if it is not one of those in the set. I highly recommend this set and would put them up against any other oil based Artist Color Pencil set on the market anywhere. I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed in the quality of the renderings that are possible with these pencils. Any artist I believe will be more than satisfied with the results they get from this line of oil based colored pencils. Do not be hesitant to give them a try.

Greater than one weekMe encantan, pero si llegaron maltratadas las puntas de los lápices de la primera canasta, sugiero una protección interna para la primera línea de lápices para q no se maltraten tanto en el transporte de envíos.

20-11-2024These are by far the best pencil on the market but you also pay a premium price for them. Of all the 20 set of pencils I own these are by far my favorites and are leaps and bounds above the others. The color lays down smoothly and evenly. They also blend nicely. The pencil leads are strong and I have experienced no breakage. I dont now how Faber does it - making a strong pencil lead that lays down smoothly, easily and evenly. Since the leads are strong they will last longer. The Prismas are a soft lead and thus you us more of the pencil when coloring so they wont last as long as the Fabers. Also the color name is one the Faber pencils which is a big plus in my book. They come in a nice tin box and there is padding between the layers which is a nice touch. If you love to color, I would suggest saving your money for this set because you will not be disappointed with them. You will just need to recover from spending so much on color pencils.

> 3 dayI couldnt believe how well these pencils worked. I had a set of Prismacolor Premiers, and though they are good and have nice vibrant colors, they do tend to have a wax bloom after two to three layers. I have no such problem with the Faber Castell Polychromos. The only issue I have with the Polychromos is the metallic colors gold, silver, and copper. They seemed scratchier, and the colors did not seem to be as bright. But, if you want to get around this, buy the Faber Castell Metallic Pitt Artist Pens. These come in a set of three pens: gold, silver, and copper. As these three pencils are the only ones I have an issue with, and I can work around this with the Pitt Artist Pens, I will give these pencils Five stars. Three out of 120 is a very low percentage.

Greater than one weekWow! I have worked with different colored pencils through out the years. My favorite ones for the past 20 years were Prismacolor pencils till now. It is really frustrating as an artist when your pencils keep breaking, especially when said pencils are expensive and some colors are hard to find for replacing. NOT with Faber Castel Polychromos; I have not had any problems at all with these pencils. I love how Polychromos pencils retain a sharper point for longer. I also love that when I am done coloring it does not look waxy. I find blending them much easier too. My only problem is that I want more than a 120 colors! I do not even care that they cost more price wise than Prismacolor pencils because I know they will last far longer and in my opinion look better. Wish I would have tried these pencils a long time ago!

> 3 dayAfter much research, I decided on the Faber Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils (120 set). Although I am not a professional artist, but a hobby card maker, I find these pencils to be an excellent quality! Blending or building colors on one another works very well and using the white/cream pencils to create some highlights work great too. I understand paper/cardstock types can make a big difference when using pencils -- something with more tooth is preferable. The pencils stay fairly sharp after several uses, nice quality lead and barrel, and they fit in your hand nicely as well.
