> 3 dayI cant decide which I like better, the Prismacolor premiers or the Faber Castell Polychromos, as they are both amazing. The Faber Castell polychromos are oil based and therefore the core is strong and less prone to breaking. You can get a very fine point on them, and rarely have breakage when sharpening. For all over color they cant be beat. They give great coverage with little white showing through with very little pressure. The pigmentation is amazing, and while you cant pull the colors into one another like you can with wax based pencils, these can layer for days with no problem. You also cant get wax bloom with them. The 120 count pencil set has more than enough shades and colors, allowing you to create any color you can imagine. The quality controlers are on point as Ive never seen a single pencil off centered, broken, warped or chipped. They are truly beautiful just to look at. I use blending stumps, prismas colorless blender, and solvents, all of which work great with the Polychromos for blending. You really cant go wrong with these and you will fall in love the moment you try them!

> 3 dayBought the 36 ct. to see would suit me. While its 36 pencils thought there would be some nice or different colors. NO Minor paint chipping on barrels.Larger pencils with large leads. Tray is useless. These pencils are extremely hard to read. They have the color names in englis and German I guess, and the color #. Doing my color chart the sharpening was good so far. Very soft laydown like Prismas, kinda streaky, gloppy looking laydown. Doesnt blend very well. Blue and yellow didnt make green. But they are better than the Derwent Artist,Derwent colorsoft, and Derwent Studio. They have a lot of splitting wood, etc. But Derwent has the great different colors. Will update went used.

Greater than one weekThe best colored pencils on the market today for adult coloring. What I love the best is because they are oil based they give off a beautiful shine no matter if you are coloring a regular adult coloring page or using a grayscale image for your coloring. They blend like a dream and give a huge range of colors to choose from including several that can be used to color flesh tones which I like as I do not have to mix as many colors to get realistic skin tones. I have a set of prismas as well and while they do work well together you will notice a difference as the fabers have much more brilliance and shine due to the oil base where as prismas are wax based and they can show a hazy bulidup if you have to layer too much. These by far will be my go to pencils and I have already been using for several weeks.

> 3 dayAs many reviews state I have tried many brands of pencil and these Polychromos are top of the line. I did not plan to keep them in the tin but with 3 trays showing the shades side by side it is optimal. Prisma is second best but great with these as there are colors in each set the other does not have. Honestly I can put all the others up and just have these 2 sets on hand. The poloychromos pencils have a great feel and are wider in diameter than others and they are so smooth and feel great in your hand. Not one of the 120 were broken and sharpen nicely to a fine tip without breaking. Prisma has more trouble than these. Also I waited till these were on sale and with my amazon points I only paid 42.00 for the tin set of 120. Love them!

> 3 dayThese pencils are perfect for detail. For the longest time I used prismacolor for all pencil drawings. Prismacolor has very rich colors but the lead is thicker and softer, breaks more, and the wax will eventually rise to the surface of your drawings, resulting in a duller appearance. While I have less colors to work with in this set, they are superior quality. The lead is thinner but harder, so they dont break as often and are perfect for detail work, i.e. fur/hair etc. The colors are vibrant and permanent but lack any sort of shine. You have to get a oil-based colorless blender for these, the waxy one for prismacolors will NOT work. If you are learning to blend colored pencils still, are practicing, dont care if the wax permeates through eventually, or need large surface areas covered, I would recommend prismacolor. If you are are comfortable blending to get the shades you need, are looking for more advanced pencils, particularly for detail work, and this is professional work that cannot have excess wax on it, I would recommend the Faber-Castell.

> 3 dayBut nice. Not waxy as Prismacolor pencils are but instead are oil based. Which is good or bad depending on what youre looking for. Not yet convinced to buy a larger set. Updated 11/04/2014 I still like the pencils but I just didnt love them enough to replace my prismacolor. Positives are the smooth layer of pigment with no wax crumbles to swipe away while using, buttery wood makes sharpening on a hand sharpener a spiritual experience. Cons are that it didnt deliver the pigment load I was expecting from a no wax pencil. Weak colors and similar coverage over the paper as wax based pencils. Ended up gifting them and the recipient loves them. Because I know many artists who swear by these pencils and create great art with them I think you should try at least the small set to see how you like them and I stand by the 5 star rating because they are great. They werent for me but they are high quality pencils. Heck buy some of all of the professional brands to see whats out there. This is one area where what doesnt float my boat may be your cloud nine. Oh and the tin case is to die for. I nearly kept it when I gifted the pencils.

> 3 dayThe pencils are creamy and vibrant. Experiment with different papers to find your best result. If you have a problem with sharpening then, clean out the pencil sharpener each time and you should have no problem.
