> 3 dayThis was my first time ever using Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils and was I ever amazed. It was hard to spend this much money on colored pencils, but I am very pleased that I did. I do not have to use a blender with these pencils and I do not have to apply as much product to the paper as I do with other pencils, so you do get your moneys worth. They are super colorful and so smooth, but not waxy smooth. It is a creamy smooth, which makes it very enjoyable to use. I will cherish these and use them as my dominant coloring tool. Love them!!!!!@

> 3 dayThese are the pencils you save for the pieces that count. I mix them with my Prismacolors. They layer really well. If you want something similar to practice with or you just need oil-based pencils that are less expensive, I would recommend Schipirerr Farben pencils. They are very similar but much less expensive. However, they only come in 72 colors, so far. I like to mix several brands in one drawing. Every one of the higher quality brands offers something different and most layer well. I like the Polychromos because the lay down so well and there is no wax bloom. They just feel good to use and the colors are beauriful. I cant afford to use them for everything, though. Great seller.

> 3 dayI LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these pencils! They glide on, are so easy to blend, and make everything come out more vibrant! Made with oil instead of wax, it comes out looking like somewhat like a cross between a watercolor painting and a richer oil painting. I owned about 10 that I bought separately, and couldnt wait to receive the rest of the colors. If you celebrate your own birthday, as I do mine, by being able to buy myself something special from myself, youll want to to celebrate early ( I ordered mine a month earlier than my Birthday) as soon as youre finished reading this review. While the wax pencils definitely have their place and can be blended with the oil in these pencils, the FaberCastell wins the triple crown without having to think twice about it! So order yours now - even if your birthday is 6 months away. Easily, the best in show!

> 3 dayI bought these to try out after watching a YouTube video of an artist reviewing the polychormos and the prismacolors. When this artist started explaining her problems with prismacolors (cant hold a point, if you drop them, sometimes the WHOLE long lead falls out of the wood, sharpening is also a pain due to that problem) - I felt validated. I thought I was just handling them correctly, or I had a bad batch, or something. Then she moved on to the polychromos and gave them rave reviews. Able to blend better, she was able to get the color she had in her mind using the polys. I am not a professional artist, I like to read art theory and techniques, then try them out. You can build more layers on top of each other with the polys without the waxbloom like the prismas. They sharpen easily and you are able to put some pressure on the tip without fear it will break off. They are expensive for just someone like me (not an artist or student), but I like them, so Im willing to pay extra.

19-11-2024I bought these for my hubby. I love my Prismacolors but he has never been fond of them. I had heard great reviews of these pencils and he was dying to try them. He loves them. The only drawback is that they dont offer a ton of colors, Ive had to get him more on eBay, overseas at that. Whereas I can go to my local store and get Prismacolors by the each. I dont believe the color pay off is as nice as Prismacolors, he disagrees. But he really gets no wax bloom like I do with mine. These are a first choice for him, second choice for me. But thats just different artist preferences. Theyre good pencils.

> 3 dayAs expected from the brand, these are great pencils. Im enjoying them quite a bit as an addition to my watercolor paintings. The color selection is decent, and although Id love it if some of the reds and pinks had better lightfast ratings, thats about what Ive come to expect with that color range in nearly every medium. Bear in mind, these are translucent, meaning they wont cover dark areas very well compared to some other brands. The white pencil is basically useless. If you want a white pencil that covers well, I suggest picking up a Luminence pencil open stock.

> 3 dayI used to swear by Prismacolor pencils, but I have been moving to smaller work and I felt like I had to sharpen my pencils every 5 seconds to keep a sharp tip for details. I saw someone using these pencils, and I read that theyre better for details. I ordered some and they exceeded my expectations! Theyre so beautiful and smooth, I bought them to supplement my Prismacolor collection but now theyre going to replace them. Absolutely in love!! If you buy these (which you totally should) try blending them with q tips to get even softer! I attached the photo to show the smoothness..This face is about 2 inches, I was able to get a ton of details and color variations with these

> 3 dayOk polychromos are expensive. I wanted to try a set and this was by far the best price Id seen. I just dont get all the hype for these. They are a bit thicker pencil which I found oddly awkward to handle. They have good color but I found them more difficult to work with than my other brands of pencils (some cheaper, some on par pricewise). I myself would definitely not spend the $$$ on these again. I recommend trying Fantasia, Derwent, Staedtler Ergosofts, or Arteza (heck even the Amazon Basics). If you do want to try these, go for the cheapest small set. They maybe wonderful for pros who have magical touch in using them but for I just dont see it. I also found them difficult to sharpen well and only with a little hand sharpener nut still couldnt get the fine sharp tip and they seemed very fragile when I did get a good point for detail coloring. Very disappointed considering all the hype.

> 3 dayThese are one of the most expensive colored pencils made and I’ve heard so much good things about them. I decided to buy the 12 pack to give them a try. Well I was very disappointed. I don’t know what I was expecting but these did not live up to the hype. Other than the fact that prismacolors can’t really be sharpened to a fine point because of breakage and these seem to not have that problem Prismacolors are just as good for less money. Not a lot less but enough. I would recommend these to people who money isn’t a concern.
