> 3 dayWorks as promised. The battery doesnt stay charged as long as they promise but lasts a long time. Easy to operate and accurate as can be. I highly recommend it.

> 3 dayVery helpful for backcountry hunting. GPS texting works very well. If you want a highly precise track of travel your battery will only last a couple days. I use way points more often instead and it works fine.

03-06-2025It is completely unacceptable for Garmin to use a sealed battery design for something that is supposed to be a serious outdoor tool. There are significant issues with this design that people should be made aware of: 1) If the battery dies when you are backpacking, youre out of luck. You cannot just pop off the back cover and put in new batteries. 2) Lithium ion battery packs lose capacity over time, meaning you had better plan your trip carefully as this GPS ages. You may get adequate battery life when the unit is brand new, but after 2-3 years, the battery will diminish by 20-40%. Using the unit in hot weather will kill the battery even faster. 3) This was clearly a greed move by Garmin, trying to limit the useful service life of these devices to force people to purchase GPS units more often.

> 3 dayI never give negative reviews but I’m making an exception in this case. I do a lot of hiking and occasionally lose cell service. I bought the Garmin and the inReach as an emergency backup. After several months of never needing it I cancelled my subscription and to do so they charge me 48 dollars just to cancel. After spending over 400 on the Garmin and 26 per month on the inReach subscription that I really never used. Buyer beware: the preset messages are very limited to 3. You pay for any other message. The satellite system is extremely slow to deliver your message. So I was better to send a regular text when back within cell range. A better plan for me is to stick close to my hiking buddy and send text messages home periodically to let my wife know where I am.

> 3 dayThis GPS is incredible. All points and routes can be done in the computer or on a cell phone. It is so easy to get the information into the garmin. the bluetooth that links with the phone is really a neat way to see everything on a bigger screen.

> 3 dayAn essential part of my kit since bought gives your family and yourself peace of mind while off-line. In terms of value-for-money, a satellite messenger is far better proposition than a sat-phone, at least for a weekend explorer as me.
