Garmin 010-01735-10 inReach Explorer+, Handheld Satellite Communicator with Topo Maps and GPS Navigation

Just got mine today; a little bit of peace of mind, perhaps, as I venture on even better adventures. The set up was quite easy, just follow the directions, and so far Im very pleased with my new device. I am especially happy with the preloaded maps and the cell phone app; both provide excellent maps for planning and navigation. Ill update as I learn more but, so good, so far . . .

Have already used it for hiking still getting familiar with it will use it for hunting

I purchased this for a hunting trip in Maine. Worked great. Havent had to try the SOS feature (thankfully). Was fairly easy to set-up, just took about 15 minutes. If you plan to use it for offroading recommned using the bluetooth and Garmin Earthmate app on your tablet.

It is nice item if you need to reach people. Being a solo hiker, this is important to me. I do file a hike plan with family and friends.

Performed as designed on test. Hope never have to use.

Great acquisition for the people that are using to go in hikes or camping. A lot of useful features, except the fact that it’s sending updates on your location, send messages, you can also mark your route and follow it when going back, means you can use the map for yourself and not for sharing only.

I have had this several years. In this day of easy and quality interfaces Garmin fails. It seems they just keep buying people because they dont know how to do it. The map support is terrible. This is too expensive a device with too limited function to be so poorly supported. At least make it great at what it does. The Earthmate app that is the interface for it has terrible maps. The nautical charts end in the middle of the Virgin Islands. One of the top sailor play grounds in the world.
