Great unit but it lacks the ability to run backroad maps which I would have liked to be able to install. Overall this unit is great just wish the two were compatible. Apparently a new unit is on the horizon which will be able to run Backroads maps. I wish i waited for the new one.

I pre-ordered this, so Ive had it for two weeks now and taken it on 5+ hikes. Very solid performance for navigation, tracking, and messaging. Seamless integration with the smartphone app so you can use your smartphone screen to look at your map and do messaging. You can even use voice dictation of messages. Great options for managing your battery life. Easy for others to track you and message you (with your permission) using a web browser. Appears pretty bounce-proof so far. I had a couple of contacts with customer support for user questions -- one was handled over the phone, one by email -- both very satisfactory. Im tempted to give it five stars, but the memory capacity is limited for tracking points and waypoints, so if you want to import a long route (like the PCT) or have many waypoints to store, you run over the limit. As a result, its not really a single solution for a long trail, but has to be supplemented with other apps. I have not had any GPS issues with my unit. The location information has been extremely accurate for me.

This is perfect for solo backpacking. Husband can keep track of me and help is there if I need it! But hopefully I will never need to push that button!

First day of use, works as advertised. Really nice to have an SOS in the outback of anywhere.

I purchased this for a hunting trip in Maine. Worked great. Havent had to try the SOS feature (thankfully). Was fairly easy to set-up, just took about 15 minutes. If you plan to use it for offroading recommned using the bluetooth and Garmin Earthmate app on your tablet.

Great safety device however Garmin interface and website are not intuitive and need slot of work. Some updates can only be done online which defeats the purpose of the device designed for remote areas.
