> 3 dayOnce set up, the plug works very well. However, it is a bit glitchy to install on Google Home. Unlike whats advertised, you are wise to first install it on the GE Cync app, then port it over to Google Home. Installing directly from Google Home results in glitches AND error messages. Worth it overall once its up and running and I plan to buy many more!

> 3 dayI needed a smart plug that would work when there was no Internet. I needed a plug that would allow me to power-cycle some Internet gear (such as a modem or a switch) located in a crawlspace. Very likely, the reason I would need to power-cycle some Internet gear would be because that very gear was not working, i.e., no WiFi and no way to control your typical WiFi-only smart plug. Doh. So, this Cync plug automatically switches over to Bluetooth when there is no Internet connection. You dont have to do anything. I can easily switch the plug off and on via Bluetooth using the Cync app on my phone.

> 3 dayJust plug them in the wall and then plug your lamp into the smart plug. Use the Alexa app to configure and you are good to go.

> 3 dayI was doing some smart plug shopping looking for the right one for me and I think this nailed it. I am not experience in the smart plug market, but I know I am super satisfied with this purchase because it is a very cheap option and it responds extremely fast with Alexa. This does not offer any power usage data, which I am disappointed about but I am still very satisfied with what it does with the price point. The top things I love about it is that it dose not require the GE app to set up, the Alexa app recognized it, almost immediately after plugging it in, which was very easy to set up and the smart plugs response almost immediately to Alexa, which I like. I don’t really think you can go wrong with this price point.

Greater than one weekThis device seemed like such a wonderful thing, however when it disconnected itself from the Cync app and refused to work or re-install, I permanently unplugged it and put in a manual switch and a timer instead. Im tired of things that are made by U.S. companies but are actually made in china. Im also tired of apps that reset themselves (the GE Cync app) whenever youre not connecting to the hub. We like our privacy and do NOT trust anything thats bluetooth connected. We gave it a try and it sucks. Installing this product is a nightmare created in futility. It can have a complete line-of-sight of the device(s) its connecting to and still wont connect. The technical support stinks because it makes you go through all of the troubleshooting steps again, even if you went through them on your own. It assumes customers are idiots. All things that connect to the Echo dot or other Amazon Echo based product should be able to direct connect to the hub without having to create a separate account on a foreign app. When Alexa is able to detect products at the push of a button like its supposed to do, then, maybe, Ill be on board.

05-06-2025Unfortunately I have run out of patience. I had a Cync hub, the app says i can now only use light bulbs and light switches. I was having a lot of trouble keeping the hub connected to the WiFi. Which is why I wanted the no-hub plug. But now I cant use the plug and the hub at the same time!?!?! So, i uninstalled the hub. Now I go to set up my plug. App says to be within 40ft. Thats okay Im within 15 ft. App failed to connect to WiFi. Move within 8ft App connects to WiFi Plug turns off during Adding to your home App fails to add plug to home App tells me to factory reset plug and try again I tried 4 times. It never ever connected. I missed my return window So i decided to try it again Same issue. Contacted support. Get message saying they will reach out to me. No one ever reached out to me. Found chat help within the app. Get message saying someone will reach out to me. Now I have no hub for cync light bulbs because it wont reconnect And no plugs cause the plugs wont connect. This is the most garbage product I have ever failed to use. I shouldve known better, but hey at least it was worth the try, right.... No, no it wasnt.

> 3 dayThe installation was a bit tricky. I tried the instructions which came with the plug which involved downloading an app. I could not figure it out. Then I blundered around the Alexa app for a while, and finally figured out how to rename it to tree. Then I plugged my Christmas tree lights into it and I could say, Alexa, turn on tree or Alexa, turn off tree. I didnt have to crawl behind the tree anymore to plug in the lights. It served its purpose.

> 3 dayThese are great, unless you have 5G. I had six when I had 4G. When I got 5G they all quit working. I was able to use an extra router to restore three of the six. So, depending on your network, they are great if working.

> 3 dayAfter much internal debate, I ended up buying these because theyre from an established American company. The extra $7 (for the three pack versus a major competitor) be damned. Im usually pretty frugal, so $7 (~15% IIRC) was hard for me to justify for a product that, by reviews, was competitive but not better. Still, I felt good about the purchase. Unfortunately, they are very unreliable compared to the Amazon-branded plug I got for free with something or another. All three of them. At this point, its 50:50 whether they work... and half of the time of the half of the time that they DO work, theyll cycle power but apparently forget to tell Alexa that the job was completed, so she says theyre not responding. Very unrefined experience. They underwent a firmware update, I was hopeful that theyd be fixed.. but no. Still bad. To be honest, I dont even know why Im giving them two stars instead of one. Theyre built to do one thing, and theyre terrible at that thing. The only possible defense that I could propose is that ever since plugging them in, my other-brand light switch that controls my kitchen lights became less reliable too.. Im wondering if theyre fighting for bandwidth, which shouldnt normally be a problem since my network is not crowded, and there are only two other networks that reach my house that arent mine. Plus, these devices are supposed to be smart enough to work around each other. I dont think Im asking too much. Im well past my return window because I wanted to give them a fair shake to work out their issues. I now consider this a loss. Using them is actually less convenient than not using a smart plug at all. I wish I was here to write a glowing review, but Ill be shopping for a different brand next time. Not only is it not worth the extra cost over other well-regarded brands, its not even worth the same cost. Or even a cheaper cost. Maybe theyre working great for other people, but I can only report on my own experience, and its a poor one.
