Greater than one weekI love the connectors on the ends of the cable. But to use unmodified you do need EtherCon tools on both ends. In a pinch you can unscrew the end and there is a standard RJ45 connector inside. If you do this you need to be careful because there is a little over an inch of exposed wiring outside the cable sheath, so it is not recommended. I checked the pinout. It is standard the CAT protocol. Very good quality cable. As I get more EtherCon equipment I will get more of this cable.

> 3 dayCAT6, oxygen-free copper cable in a solid-feeling rubberized jacket with pro-quality cannon connectors (ethercon-type). This is one nice cable! I ordered it, to pair with Gearits 4-channel DMX/XLR Audio extender. This cable works perfectly. The cables cannon/ehtercon connectors click into the extender boxes, firmly- making for excellent, noise-free signal conduction. It is worth a mention that this cable is advertised and labeled as shielded. However, the specification for the shielding isnt specifically stated. Instead, one of the photos in the listing shows an image of 4 pairs of insulated, stranded conductors, surrounded by an aluminum shield. Curiously, the image suggests both a solid, and a braided aluminum shield- but again, nothing is specifically stated. For this reasons, it is unclear whether this is actually CAT6 SF/UTP... which means the cable would consist of 4 unshielded twisted pairs, surrounded by an outer foil, plus a braided shield- just beneath the jacket. That said, this cable is robust, features pro-quality assembly, and yields pro-quality signal propagation. Id buy more.

Greater than one weekIn total, I’ve got 8 microphones covering my drum kit. Needless to say, that creates a lot of XLR cable spaghetti running all over the floor leading back to my Behringer A/D converters. I’ve only recently discovered Ethercon technology and just started using it in my home studio. Unlike regular XLR snakes with their large boxes and unruly diameter cables, EC extenders are very compact yet still pass audio signals transparently. This particular cable has very rugged jacketing with tight fitting connectors, whose stress reliefs are sufficient and have serrated surfaces for a better grip. As a test, I attached a pair of 4-port EC extender boxes using this cable to cover the four microphones on the hi-hat side of my drum kit, consisting of a combination of two condenser and two dynamic mics. I couldn’t detect any signal degradation whatsoever, no doubt in part to the use of CAT6 connectivity which depending on length supports data transfer speeds up to 10Gbps. They also send/receive phantom power without any sort of power supply required. Some of my collaborators have attempted to connect Ethercon extender boxes using a standard CAT6 Ethernet cable, which will without fail cause line noise issues due to insufficient shielding and/or long length. Worse yet, they will not carry phantom power. Always use cables specifically designed for Ethercon compatibility such as this one, and it’s smooth sailing. Note that they’re not just for audio. If you’re into DMX lighting, these will handle that as well. This product may seem a bit pricey, but then again so are long high-quality XLR cables. That in mind along with the convenience they provide, I’m certainly sticking with Ethercon microphone connections from here on out.

> 3 dayPicture an Ethernet cable that is as heavy duty as a good mic cable and you begin to get the idea of how robust this cable is. The cable is not just heavy duty, it is also very well made. The ends are made from some great aluminum stock. Nice a thick so its not prone to any kind of failure. I know reviewing cables isnt something where you can make a lot of important revelations about the quality of the cable so Ill keep it simple. This is a very well built cable. Based on my use of it and being able to get my hands on it and look at it I have no problem saying that GeatIT has made one great product here. Its more than worth the price!

> 3 dayUsed at 2 gigs with no issues - feels well built and durable. However, during 3rd gig I started getting intermittent dropouts on my A&H GX4816 during sound check. Traced it back to this cable - had to run by home depot to get a quick replacement before the show. Amazon return process 5-star.

> 3 dayI wanted to start off by saying this cable does it jobs and works as intended. I wish there was more information to provide, but just for testing purposes, I wanted to make sure the cable was a CAT6, so I unscrewed the end housing to test the quality of the cable and it does in fact handle the correct speeds that are listed in the informational page. This is a quality product and thank you for a great product!!!

Greater than one weekI have several GearIT cables and they have all be good quality - this one is no exception. The cable is very heavy with a good sheathing on it. The connector hoods are aluminum and the RJ45 itself is shielded. Understand these are EtherCON connectors for pro-audio applications. They arent intended for typical ethernet runs, although you can use them for that with some adjustments. The hoods are removable in this case, but they arent really intended and are probably overkill for home use.
