Geeni Wi-Fi Smart Wall Outlet with 2 Plugs and Wireless App Control, Compatible with Alexa and Google Home, WiFi Smart Outlet, 2 Pack

It took a little adjusting back and forth on the Geeni and Google Home apps to get voice control to work. I am certainly not savvy at these sort of things, so if I can figure it out, it must be pretty simple.

The entire process is a bit involved, but once you get the first one installed and operational, adding more is easy. Ability to control the power to each plug on a different schedule or Alexa voice command. Use these on holiday and security lights.

I have installed these products to control my Christmas Lights and other Trims. They work great and is easy to link to Google Assist. I can easily set times from the app or using Google Assist. Must have a Standard electrical Box and is NOT a Cut-In Box or it will not fit or it will be tight.

This plug does do what I need it to do, but… You must use the Faceplate Screws provided because the screws and screw-holes on the outlet are smaller diameter than a standard plug, or you can re-tap the holes on the Geeni outlet. I wish this came in more color selections. The rest of the outlets/switches in the house are Light Almond. I can use this though because it is behind a nightstand and I used a Light Almond Faceplate with it. I needed this system to be able to program power to two different devices, and to be able to turn-on/off remotely (cellphone) if needed, so I am not linking it to Alexa and the rest of the Smart Life systems within the house (personal issues with the protocols). I tried using the smart plugs that you can plug into any outlet and then plug your device into but they covered the USB charging ports, which I needed to be able to use too.

The Geeni Smart WiFi outlet does everything I need it to. Installation in the receptacle box was a bit tight and I would up having to cut away a portion of the mounting tab on the receptacle box so that the outlet would fit. The ground screw location made that necessary as the hight of the outlet box was the same as the receptacle box opening and once the ground wire was attached the outlet would not fit into the receptacle box opening. Once I got it installed it works great. The outlet is easy to control using the Geeni app. I did find that the written and online instructions for sharing the device were outdate, but after contacting Geeni I received an email with correct instructions.

To start, the WiFi set-up went easily, no problems. The physical install was very difficult. The electrical box in my wall was small, and this outlet unit left maybe 1/32th of a inch clearance on top and bottom. The big problem was the ground screw. The device has this mounted on the bottom of the outlet, and even when fully screwed in, it far exceeds the 1/32 clearance with my box. I had to ground to part of the mounting plate when tapping in the mounting screw to the box... not preferred. So, this was major headache, taking 1/2 hour to figure out. Secondly, to connect the hot and neutral wires, you have to insert the wires into holes in the back of the device. The set screws and nuts to fasten the wires are inconsistent, and dont really provide sufficient clearance for the wires. I had to really tork on the screws to loosen them enough to jam the wires in. This really sucked to get to work! Thirdly, the switch plate requires screws smaller than standard. Fortunately the package came with these screws. But, what the heck, why change from the standard? Maybe this is the standard in some other country, but youre selling this in the U.S... come on guys, sell something standard for here. I probably should just have returned the 2-pack devices, but since they WiFi worked, and eventually after nearly an hour, I did get it to work, I wont waste my time with that now. But, I would not buy these again... they need to up their quality and design. This was a very frustrating install, and it should not have been! Again, because the WiFi worked, Ill generously give this a 3 star rating. Also, the plate covers these come with are pretty cheap... hard plastic and possibly brittle type. I wont use them.

Geeni is an outstanding brand. Application work perfect. Highly recommended
