> 3 dayOrdered this to replace the Hepa filter and activated carbon in a Winix 9500 air purifier. Typed in the make/model under does this fit...., and it stated that it did. Upon installing, the Hepa and carbon filters are about a 1/4 too big each way. It was no big deal to trim down the carbon filters, but had to squash the Hepa in place, leaving some open spots around the outside. The spots are mostly covered by the washable pre-filter, so Im not too worried. After doing a little research, it is my understanding that Winix no longer makes a direct, perfect fit replacement for the 9500, which sort of defeats the idea of air filtration. Other than that, I am happy with the product. Well made, and Im sure will work well enough for what we need.

> 3 dayI tried the other cheap off brand non-winix filters versions sold here and they were not acceptable. I switched to this original version and the Winix unit is now doing what I bought it for. The cheap versions flowed much more air and made the fan sound louder. This told me it was not filtering as I needed. Pollen is tiny and you need the full capabilities of these original filters or you will suffer more allergy problems like us. Allergies hit us hard this spring so ordered these original filters for our 2 Winix units and things got better, allergy problems backed off a bit if we stayed inside.

> 3 dayThe actual white filter looks and works fine. But the features of the filter, which are supposed to facilitate proper installation actually do the opposite: they confuse. People who made it either had QA problems or simply did know what they were doing. The horizontal top of the filter has an arrow that says FRONT, implying that this arrow is supposed to point towards the front of the device. At the same time the vertical sides of the filter have little tabs, which are supposed to help to pull the filter out of the device. But if you obey the top arrow, these side tabs will end up inside the device. This makes no sense. at all. I presume that the little tabs are supposed to face outside, towards the front. This implies that the arrow on the top was actually meant to be an AIRFLOW arrow. It is just that some incompetent genius mislabeled this arrow is as FRONT instead of AIRFLOW. Treat that top arrow as AIRFLOW direction, install this filer with little tabs facing outside and it will work fine.

> 3 dayI used to order these direct from the company. One day I decided to check Amazon and behold, they also carry them. They were less costly than those from the company and when they arrived they were exactly what I needed. Thanks Amazon.

> 3 dayI went with the OEM filters because I didnt want to risk getting questionable quality with a purifier that I depend on for health. Not sure if it is better then other cheaper brands, I just know that they are not of the same quality that came with the machine and they are way over priced for what they are. Way of the world these days.

> 3 dayWe live in an area that is dry & the wind (which in our area can whip up really fast) causes lots of grit/dust to get everywhere. I have noticed I do not have to dust as often. Which saves me time on housework. Love the time it saves me.

> 3 dayThe light finally went off on my Winix 5300 meaning that a year has passed since I have changed my HEPA filter. This filter was identical to the one that came out, except much cleaner. This arrived quickly and was exactly what I needed. Note that per the manual for the 5300 you can wash the main HEPA filter every 6 months for up to three years. Personally I think its worth it to change the filter once a year and not worry about washing it unless you are operating it within a dusty area. If you have the 5300 like me dont forget to press and hold the filter reset button for 3-5 seconds after you change the filter. A short beep will be heard and the light should turn off. The filter set comes with 4 carbon odor filters for changing every three months which will keep things in my room smelling nice and clean. Happiness!

> 3 dayYou really have to order the Genuine Winix Replacement Filter A for the HEPA Filter or it wont work right. Even so, as with many of the reviewers here, it doesnt fit well. Neither the actual HEPA filter nor the multiple carbon pre-filters work well. You have to cut the carbon filter, its messy and a pain having to change it every 3 months. Also the carbon filter holder is difficult to disassemble and once you do, good luck trying to get it back together! Its sort of a pain all around, but must be done to keep the HEPA filter machine working and clean. I find have I have to change the HEPA more often in summer than every 6 months.

Greater than one weekThese filters are a replacement for the entire plastic cartridge filter unit that comes with your Winix. That plastic overly-complicated thing you will need to just toss out. Quality seemed good. Mine looked as good as the main product photo. White goes in first then one of the the black pre-filters. The white main filter fit perfectly. On mine the black pre-filter wants to lean forward when vertical. When running it gets pulled in fine. It is probably possible to hold it in place better with bits of masking tape or something. Mine is always running so I didnt bother. Black filter gets changed every 3-4 months. Works well and beats having to buy some $100 highway-robbery replacement which I dont think I could get myself to do... Oh yea, there is a smell from the pre-filter, but it goes away after a few days.
