> 3 dayThis is the real Winix replacement filter. Don’t bother trying to save a few bucks with the off brands. I tried and majorly regretted it because the off brand product made my room smell like burned plastic and the prefilter crumbled (yes, crumbled!). This product, on the other hand, is *authentic* and fits the 6300 like a glove, with no smells whatsoever. Comes with 4 prefilters and 1 HEPA. Don’t look elsewhere, buy the real thing and breathe deeply!

> 3 dayThis does NOT fit the Costco model C545. I thought the C535 listed here was the same thing but it is not. (Completely my mistake). The Costco model needs a filter S, which is not available here from Winix, only off brand. I just bought the appropriate filter from Costco online with my membership card. Its $45 and free shipping. Hope this helps someone with the Costco model in the future!

> 3 dayCall me a dummy, but I actually use all four carbon filters at once. Why? More surface area for harmful smoke to be captured before getting to the HEPA filter. If you have ever had the awesome opportunity to see inside an industrial air purifier, such as those produced by Fumex, then you will see that they use a coarse filter, a hepa filter then a substantial carbon filter. I make the comparison because what is good for one process is certainly good for another; if a boat load of carbon will work for the industrial purifier then wouldnt it also work for home? I installed these filters into my Winix system and wondered why I had not replaced my filters sooner because the air quality was significantly improved after the replacement. I can finally breathe again.

> 3 dayThe main filter and the carbon filters fit perfectly in my 5300-2 model. Initially bought this last October and got the indicator on my winix to replace the filter in mid July, so lasted about 9 months. Had the unit on 24/7 (except on a couple of occasions) on the 2nd-to-highest setting (there are 4 on mine), bumping it up to full speed sometimes. Used inside my bedroom, not a smoker or anything but it does get fairly dusty over time in my room. I replaced the carbon filters every 3 months as specified on mine. Pretty fair in my opinion, I would be surprised if any filter lasted the entire expected time frame, but I could be wrong. Even then, the amount you save should be taken into account.

> 3 dayI bought a number of the Winix air cleaners when they were on sale. The whole machine was less than a single Plasmawave replacement filter. Then there were the fires in Paradise and elsewhere and the air quality became so bad my smoke alarms were going off. For a fire 200 miles away. Fortunately I had the Winix air cleaners installed and they did a great job. I have a laser particulate measuring system for air quality (for arguments with my wife- totally worth it!) that showed indoors the air quality was several hundred fold better than outdoors for the two particle sizes. counted. The carbon coated filters need replacing every few months as they prefilter the dog hair and general linty things floating about. The HEPA filters filter out the micron range bits. After a year you can visibly see the filter color darken as it loads up on schmutz too small to see (lasers can count them without a problem). A lot of that is pollen and other stuff you dont want to think about. So once a year they get recycled. I went for the original Winix because sometimes other brands dont fit right (the seal has to be air tight around the filter or you defeat the purpose of the filter). And I know for certain the Winix filters work because I tested them, so its worth a few extra bucks once a year to use filters I can count on. The whole family gets allergy shots so this helps keep the air inside as healthy as possible. A couple of times a year the pollen is so thick you need to wash it off your car so if thats a problem, this is a solution.

Greater than one weekThis item, ordered on July 5th, 2018 is the original winix replacement filter. Some reviewers have mentioned that what they received was not an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) product. This was not true for us and what we got was the original product. It is expensive, given that we paid $99 for the Winix machine and Two complete sets of filters (One set comprises a HEPA filter and 4 charcoal prefilters). The product (filters and machine) work very well and will eliminate a fair amount of dust and animal dander. We own four machines that were all purchased about 8 months ago and will probably buy a couple more on sale at the $99 price again. Got allergies/ COPD/ etc - probably a good purchase for you!

> 3 dayYou really have to order the Genuine Winix Replacement Filter A for the HEPA Filter or it wont work right. Even so, as with many of the reviewers here, it doesnt fit well. Neither the actual HEPA filter nor the multiple carbon pre-filters work well. You have to cut the carbon filter, its messy and a pain having to change it every 3 months. Also the carbon filter holder is difficult to disassemble and once you do, good luck trying to get it back together! Its sort of a pain all around, but must be done to keep the HEPA filter machine working and clean. I find have I have to change the HEPA more often in summer than every 6 months.

> 3 dayThese are not activated carbon filters. They are black prefilters. Nothing special. The description of this item is deceptive. I wish I had gotten the activated carbon filters I was expecting. For future reference to anyone searching for activated carbon filters, an activated carbon filter usually looks black and is made of carbon (like most things in this universe), but rather than being a simple mesh material that can only catch dust, it will have honeycombs of little pockets of activated carbon pellets, or a woven thick material containing carbon pellets inside. These are far from anything remotely close to activated carbon filters. The only upside I can think of this product is that the filters fit my Winix Air Purifier exactly, which is a small advantage over the generic brands Ive used in the past. I will continue to purchase this product if they keep their prices low, but Ill be searching elsewhere for an active carbon replacement, if it exists.

Greater than one weekI went with the OEM filters because I didnt want to risk getting questionable quality with a purifier that I depend on for health. Not sure if it is better then other cheaper brands, I just know that they are not of the same quality that came with the machine and they are way over priced for what they are. Way of the world these days.
