Genuine Winix 115115 Replacement Filter A for C535, 5300-2, P300, 5300, White/Black

I thought Id save a few bucks by trying a (highly rated) generic replacement filter for my Winix machines, and I was immediately disappointed by the poor fit and added operating noise. Went back immediately to real Winix filters and the difference in performance and noise level is clear.

The HEPA filter works great as do the carbon filters. I actually vacuum both the carbon filters and the HEPA filters every 1-2 months and wash the HEPA filter every 3 months by rinsing under the shower head the letting it completely air dry for a day. I replace the carbon filters once every 6-8 months since I clean them more than recommended. This is my first HEPA filter replacement since buying my Winix 5500 over a year and a half ago. I gave this 4 stars only because I wish they sold the HEPA filter separately since my carbon filters have lasted a lot longer. Otherwise this is a great product for a great price.

These filters are a replacement for the entire plastic cartridge filter unit that comes with your Winix. That plastic overly-complicated thing you will need to just toss out. Quality seemed good. Mine looked as good as the main product photo. White goes in first then one of the the black pre-filters. The white main filter fit perfectly. On mine the black pre-filter wants to lean forward when vertical. When running it gets pulled in fine. It is probably possible to hold it in place better with bits of masking tape or something. Mine is always running so I didnt bother. Black filter gets changed every 3-4 months. Works well and beats having to buy some $100 highway-robbery replacement which I dont think I could get myself to do... Oh yea, there is a smell from the pre-filter, but it goes away after a few days.

I have an older Winix 6300 air purifier that takes the type A 115115 replacement filter set. The filter set comes with four activated carbon pre-filters and one True HEPA filter. I change the pre-filter about every three months and HEPA filter lasts about a year before it needs to be replaced. This set fits perfectly and is the same quality as the original filter set. They are more expensive than other replacement filter brands, but I know these fit properly and perform well.

At one time I chose the less expensive generic filter package. The generic was a really bad choice because the carbon filters produced a black dust while installing and the Hepa filter lasted half as long as a branded filter. This filter is easy to install (no dust) and keeps air cleaner for longer.

I read reviews that this filter does not fit the 5500. From the info I could find by doing research on the internet, the 5500 uses Size 21 Filter. The SKU# for the Size 21 filter on the Winix website is: 115115 - which is the same SKU# listed on amazon. When I received my order, the box containing the filter lists a few model numbers that this filter fits and the 5500 is not listed. BUT, it does say it fits all units that use Size 21. I fault both amazon and Winix for not having clear info on this but it explains why amazon has this filter paired with the 5500 on their website. There are dozens and dozens of items for sale on amazon that do not have sufficient and/or accurate info. I would say 75% of the bad reviews that people write are usually a result of the consumer having absolutely no clue what they are talking about. People really need to quit being so lazy and do a little research before you fire off a bad review. If something is not clear on the amazon website, do some research!

I have been using this filter for a few years now. The latest replacement filter arrived today and is SCENTED! As soon as I opened the plastic bag (still sealed) , I was hit with a powdery floral fragrance. I have never had a Winix filter that was scented and I run 3 Winix purifiers in my house. The smell sort of defeats the purpose of using the purifier because thats partly the reason I run them - to reduce smells! The package and filter looked identical to the others Ive received in the past. I will be returning this filter. I have also reached out directly to Winix to inquire if this was a change theyve made to their filter.

I own the Winix air purifier and this filter is just what we needed to replace the original filter. Fits perfectly! I recommend this product.

Don’t waste your money ordering third party filters. I ordered a third party filter at half the price and my unit sounded like a fan. My wife asked dont these units seems louder? I put these original ones and the unit is a whisper again indicating it is actually filtering the air.

Edit 11/2020: - Bought it again and realize we can double up on the carbon filters to replicate the washable one on the 5500-2. No issues, works great. ---- I have a Winix 5500-2 and this item fits if you dont plan to reuse the washable carbon filter. I figured there were giant gaps in the washable filter that was letting the HEPA filter get dirty faster, and it was easier to just throw away the disposable carbon filters along with all the trapped particles
