> 24 hourI had a cheapie soldering iron from a tool outlet and an old Weller gun about to give to the ghost. Using the new Hakko FX601 is like comparing a Porsche to a Rambler. I do vintage train repairs with lots of wire soldering and occasionally brass or copper metal working. This iron is a gem, pun intended. Heats up very quickly, maintains temperature after cleaning the tip, and between solder joints. Tinning wire ends has never been easier or quicker. I barely have to touch a join before the solder flows, and stays flowing until I remove the iron, preventing cold joins. I rarely need any heat setting past the third one, but the high heat is there if I need it. Also bought the smaller chisel tip to have better placement of heat in small areas. A high quality tool, well worth the higher price. I could never use another!

> 24 hourI will buy this product again, when the time comes...The only thing that bothers me is...the packaging says, it is FX-601 although it is a FX-601 02. It makes the consumer wonder if they had ordered the correct model of the product.

> 24 hourThis is an awesome soldering iron for Stained Glass. My solder lines are so clean with this! I just thought I was really bad at soldering until I bought this!

> 24 hourI do a lot of hobby stained glass work. This excellent iron. Ready to solder in less than a minute and holds temp on long runs.

> 24 hourI had high hopes for this soldering iron. For the first half of my project, I liked it. Although I never liked the temperature control which is a minuscule dial on the handle and almost impossible to turn. But after using it for a while, it felt like rather than maintaining an even temperature, it would cool and heat, cool and heat. At this point it was no different than the soldering iron Ive been using for 25 years. And they need a better design for the temperature dial.

> 24 hourI love it! Light and easy to hold and use. I think a wider tip would be better but it’s working well for small glass pieces for stained glass.
