Greater than one weekI absolutely love this soldering iron. I have small arthritic hands and it is small in your palm and has a short barrel so easy to control!

> 3 dayThis is the one soldering iron Ive seen most recommended. I dont work much on SG projects due to time constraints; my total time actually soldering is about 50 hours per year. I just checked the purchase date on this one, I bought it in April 2021. It worked nicely when it did. I had some time to continue working on a project last night (June 7, 2023), and the only thing I could get was a 2 cm bead out of it, standing over waiting for the solder to melt for 25 minutes, then I gave up. I checked the temp dial, tested it on wood, and the iron was just hot enough to lightly burnish wood, but not hot enough for the solder anymore. Barely used, and very well taken care of. The tip is whole, clean, etc.

> 3 dayThis was supposed to be the 601-602 which would include 2 tips sized but only received the 601 model with the smaller tip. I’ll have to spend another 18.00 for the 1/4in tip

> 3 dayI bought a couple hundred pounds of stained glass, lead and so forth from a lady who dabbled in stained and leaded glass. Included in the package was solder, solder flux, lots of foil and lead, and an iron. They got the job done, but after having read reviews and experienced the difference between professional soldering irons and disposables for electronics work, I took the plunge and sprung for a Hakko. As the title of this review implies, comparing the well known name brand unit to this is like comparing a VW to a Rolls. If you might or are going to get serious about stained or leaded glass work, spring for the Hakko FX601. Even if your cheaper iron is new or has a new tip, the Hakko will run circles around it in performance. Its more than probable youll not get a feel for how easy things can flow (a pun, and not) during soldering operations, until your try quality.

Greater than one weekWorked very well, loved the capability to adjust the heat, until I tried to change the tip, cant remove it, so cant use it as tip is damaged now.
