I’ve tried several irons and just wasn’t very good at soldering and thought it was because I am fairly new at working with stained glass. I decided to try this iron after reading many reviews. I love this iron and my soldering has improved 99%. It’s comfortable to use and stays hot without cooling down.

I got this to replace my old Hakko 455 which wasnt doing well for really big jobs. The Hakko FX601-02 is wonderful. Just like my old 455 but much more powerful, and built-in temperature control.

Heats up fast temp setting great nice soldering job

This is by far the best iron for doing stained glass work that I have been able to find. I do stained glass work for a living, and this is the only iron I will use. If you are using it all day every day like I do, the heating element will go out after about a year. But Ive found that is true with most irons. This one is consistently as hot as I need it to be, and reliable, and will continue to be my iron of choice for my work.

Worth the investment having the temperature control on the iron vs plugging into box that tends to goes in and off. Much more consistent performance.
