After many years of using electronic store versions of irons due to less than normal conditions and usage habits; I went ahead and purchased a righteous station to satisfy my electronic/solder needs for the future. System is smaller than I had expected (a good thing for limited bench space) but quickly heats to the intended settings. Was able to teach my sons, who are slowly warming up to the idea of doing electronics work and fun projects, the process and principles of keeping them lasting for many years. Im amazed at how quick the unit heats and do not miss the days of 5 minute waiting times to get an iron to even start to melt solder. I was worried about receiving a clone or knock-off unit but sending tweets to Hakko directly, they gave me their support number to call and verify my Serial Number which worked great. Official quality product and loving this unit! Im thoroughly pleased with this iron and the control it gives me. Would highly recommend to those just starting and wishing to learn using a quality product because while you might be able to use a lessor quality product; the work will show in the end and why not learn and teach using one of the best. Awesome!

After struggling with a junky radio shack soldering iron, I figured Id step up. This item is amazing. The tips are so nice and last such a long time. I run it at 750F and it does a quick and clean jog.

I have been using soldering irons professionally for the past twenty years, and personally for the past thirty. It did not occur to me that a soldering iron could have an unnecessarily complicated user interface and unnecessary features. I regret purchasing this item and will suggest my colleagues look elsewhere for a soldering iron.

Gives you the illusion you can change the temperature. Take a thermal meter to it. It does not very temp, and barely will melt bigger solder joints,even with bigger tips. Maybe I got a defective unit. But dont waste your money.

Awesome arrived as advertised will buy again

I am extremely happy with this product. Heats up quick, maintains the heat well, Works just as well as everyone says it does. Tried a couple of other much less expensive irons, and this one is far superior to those offerings . Im typically rather cynical about many costlier products as the returns diminish greatly on a lot of things past a certain price point, This is absolutely not the case with this Soldering Station and I would certainly not hesitate to buy other Hakko products as their tools are often lauded for their quality while also being typically less expensive than their competitors.

This is on of those tools that I wonder why I didnt buy one sooner. I solder fairly regularly, and have been using a bunch of cheap pencil irons for years. They mostly got the job done, but just lacked any kind of finesse for doing more delicate work and the tips on them never lasted. This Hakko has made soldering so much easier it isnt funny, if Im soldering wires together, I turn up the heat a bit. For smaller stuff, I turn it down just to where I need it. It is nice not having to worry (as much) about overheating a component because you know youre using just the right amount of heat instead of whatever the iron puts out. Perhaps the biggest advantage of a station like this is that it maintains that temperature as you solder, which is huge when youre soldering a component or trace that tends to sink a lot of heat. My only minor gripe is the way you have to adjust the temperature. It isnt as apocolptically difficult as some other reviews would have you to believe but i cant imagine that including an extra button or just using a knob would have been any more expensive to build. For my hobby work it isnt a big deal, but I can see where it may be a slight impediment to someone using it in a production environment that needs to adjust the temperature more frequently.

If youre here looking at this its probably because you have already heard of Hakkos. It lives up to the name. Im very happy with it.

Works exactly as described. Heats fast and seems stable.
