> 3 dayThis tape was exactly what I needed in resurfacing a deck. The taper here is extremely well and has a very good quality. My only minor criticism is that I put the tape on when it was above 80° and the tape was extremely gooey and soft and a little difficult to work. And in the cooler weather there were no problems whatsoever.

> 3 dayI had old, but dry joists that were is excellent shape. So I plugged the old nail holes and any splits in the wood, and then laid down this joist tape. It worked great. The adhesive is so thick and sticky that I believe it will keep moisture out as well as sealing the new nails/screws penetrating the joists. The project needed 5 rolls of tape, so the cost for the tape was reasonable to protect the joists for another long period of time.

> 3 dayIt meet and exceeds all expectations, only issue all the rolls seemed run short measured several times to make sure I had enough for joist on my deck and was still about 4 feet short

Greater than one weekThis product is excellent for protecting the would underneath our decking boards. But be prepared to get sticky hands

Greater than one weekI used black Ipe Clips to fasten down my deck, and this tape makes the clips effectively disappear. The adhesion is incredible - highly recommend.

05-06-2025Ive seen a number of questions and comments about the tapes specs, so here goes. THICKNESS: using a micrometer, the thickness of the tape + backing paper is 0.023 thick, and the paper backing is 0.002 thick, which means that THE TAPE ITSELF IS 0.021 THICK. The butyl tape seems to be of good quality but I cant tell you how long it will last when exposed to the elements. Is it gooey? Yes. I have no way to measure gooey, but I had occasion to put some of it down on a girder, then two weeks later I changed my mind about the joists that would go over it. I then removed the tape and thought you might like to see what it looks like as you peel the tape away. See photos. When the tape came off, it left a lot of this glue on the wood. I used the removed tape as a way to lift off the goo, much as one wraps Scotch tape around your hand, sticky side out, and then use it as a lint brush. Thats what I did except I didnt wrap the discarded tape around my hand ... too messy. I eventually got most of the glue off of the wood, but there is still a bit left. I can therefore attest to the fact that THIS STUFF IS GOOEY and will probably do a good job of preventing moisture from getting past it and into the wood that it protects, which is its main job.

> 3 dayI have used a few of these types of products and I found this product to stick better than most. Some of the products I have found start to come off in a few days and you need to staple them down and its a bit annoying. I found this product just stayed put and it actually merged with the wood.... You almost cant get it off. It also looks like it would seal around your screw holes well. I also liked that it just fits the top of the joist. I have tried going with a wider product and folding it over which I think would be better protection but at the same time it takes longer to install. This width was really quick to install which I liked.

> 3 dayExtremely tacky. When I removed the deteriorating wood boards on my deck the joists had not been taped. Decided to tape before installing the new Trex. Sticks and sticks well even on weather materials.

> 3 dayGreat product, half the price that I found at other places. I used it on my deck I just built. If it will protect and save joist rot for even 1-3 years its totally worth it. If youre going to spend thousands on a deck, its highly recommended to add just $50-100 for a protective product like this. Highly recommended.
