> 3 dayIve tested this product for 8 years in harsh, outdoor weather extremes and it holds up fantastic. The glue does not dry, remains waterproof, and is almost impossible to remove later. Acetone has trouble dissolving the glue so dont expect this tape to come off if applied to a clean, oil free, and dry surface. I reordered 8 years later and the product seems the same. Dont change a thing, thanks!

> 3 dayWorked well, cut product to size when using on my deck rails a couple weeks ago, will purchase more rolls once weather turns to spring and summer when replacing more deck boards. Seemed like it should work well

> 3 dayIve seen a number of questions and comments about the tapes specs, so here goes. THICKNESS: using a micrometer, the thickness of the tape + backing paper is 0.023 thick, and the paper backing is 0.002 thick, which means that THE TAPE ITSELF IS 0.021 THICK. The butyl tape seems to be of good quality but I cant tell you how long it will last when exposed to the elements. Is it gooey? Yes. I have no way to measure gooey, but I had occasion to put some of it down on a girder, then two weeks later I changed my mind about the joists that would go over it. I then removed the tape and thought you might like to see what it looks like as you peel the tape away. See photos. When the tape came off, it left a lot of this glue on the wood. I used the removed tape as a way to lift off the goo, much as one wraps Scotch tape around your hand, sticky side out, and then use it as a lint brush. Thats what I did except I didnt wrap the discarded tape around my hand ... too messy. I eventually got most of the glue off of the wood, but there is still a bit left. I can therefore attest to the fact that THIS STUFF IS GOOEY and will probably do a good job of preventing moisture from getting past it and into the wood that it protects, which is its main job.

Greater than one weekMy original intention for this was as a moisture barrier between my new exterior deck stairway stringers and the Trex deck boards I also used on my stairs, and I discovered another bonus in the process. On some of the other deck joists where I used a copper brown wood preservative on the cut surfaces, and where those surfaces directly contacted the underside of the Trex composite boards, the wood preservative leached up into the boards and significantly discolored them! Wherever I used this tape, that leaching and discoloration did not occur. Its a bit pricey, but not a bad idea to use on top of all joists and stringers!

> 3 dayUsed the tape on an existing outdoor deck that I was replacing the boards on . As long as the joists are dry the tape sticks well , if they are wet doesnt stick well . I installed a few weeks ago so no idea on longevity but it looks like it should last a long time .

> 3 dayWe put the tape down but didnt get it finished. The adhesive is great and fits snug on the boards. It was easy to do and I think it will be a great thing to keep the deck in good condition. I wanted to go ahead and review the tape because I dont see any problems in the future.

> 3 dayThis tape is better than described. I applied it to the tops of my joists and stair stringers (glossy black strips in the photo). I wish Id know about it 10 years ago otherwise Id not be replacing my stringers. The tape withstands several step-board on and offs to install railing posts and the tape will not ride up the screws. If youre looking to extend the life of your exposed decking support structures this stuff is easy to work with.

Greater than one weekI’m no deck building master. I can only compare this to the Tr*x tape I bought for the doubled beams. To me this tape was better than the Tre* tape. It adhered good and was easy to work with. Just like all the other tapes don’t lay it on anything dirty. The sides of the rolls are sticky and will pick up any dirt it touched.

> 3 dayWe used this when building the base of our deck. Great value. Easy to install on the wood beams.
