These are simply the best traction device on the market. They are light enough that you will hardly notice that they are on your feet, while being sturdy enough that you wont have to. I hiked up Mt. Leconte with these this weekend, and they performed marvelously. While one of my friends was practically sliding down the mountain, I felt sure-footed. I would recommend these to a friend.

Very nice, heavy duty product. On, time and better than expected.

They were a little hard to get on my sneakers. It is best to leave the spikes on a pair of shoes and not keep taking them on and off. I feel very safe and comfortable wearing them.

These are a bit heavy but extremely durable and they work amazingly well. I did a 10 mile hike with some friends on some hilly and ice covered trails this morning. They wore lighter but cheaper versions and they were still slipping and sliding. They were all jealous of mine and requested the purchase link. I felt extremely sure-footed. Ultra-light hikers wont like the weight, (14 oz for the pair) but you cant go wrong for day hiking. Also, my friends kept having to stop to readjust or put theirs back on but mine stayed on and secure during the entire hike.

A must for the winter pack. You never know when you will need them. Great for those iced up trails. Goes on off easily.

I run on snowshoes, yaktrax and now Kahtoolas. While the Kahtoola microspikes are well made, easy to use and durable, they have a possibly fatal flaw. There is a significant and I feel dangerous hole in spike coverage in the center of the back of the heel. The first time I ran with them, all was well because there was a some fresh snow. But when I was running on icy surfaces (which these were designed for given the huge spikes), I was motoring along in blissful ignorance until I headed downhill heel-first. My leg shot out from under me since no metal came in contact with the ice. It scared me to death! If you look at the pic here, you will easily see the dangerous hole in coverage. To avoid slipping, I had to run downhill landing either flatfooted or on my toes to make sure I stick to the ground. Frightening. I plan on modifying my kahtoolas with an extra wire pulling the chains closer together base of the heel like what was done at the toe. I cannot believe that this hole in coverage was not addressed earlier. Unless of course, the primary users/designers dont really run on icy mountains but rather on flat crusty trails. Yet, given the huge spikes and aggressive appearance, its too bad that the heel is so unprotected given that almost every step downhill lands on or near the heel. Oh, but uphill, these things scream. But looking at the picture of the spikes while I write this, I wonder if I put them on backwards it would help since the extra wire connector at the toe was likely a fix from lack of coverage on that end of the shoe.

These are the best traction devices I have owned yet. I have used them on several hikes, many on solid ice trails, with no problems whatsoever. I am using a size Large on Asollo Backpacking boots, size 10.5, and I have had no issues so far. I would not use them on a smaller shoe as the spikes would probably roll off to the outside of the sole. I have had other products break in one nights use as the rubber gets ripped on a rock but the chains on the microspikes take the abuse of rocks quite well and the spikes themselves have shown very little wear, even after some use on asphalt. All in all, this is quite a solid little package and I highly recommend this product!

Great. Essential for early winter hiking on icy trails.

Love these microspikes. I have tried others and don’t feel as secure walking on ice. If you enjoy the outdoors during the winter months then Kahtoola microspikes will keep you up right!

Awesome add on for trail shoes (or hikers) for snow, ice, and even mud. They have held up great over multiple winter races, like The Frozen Snot Adventure Race. They stay on when running and were reliable when I needed traction on dangerous sections of trails. They stay on better than Yaktrax and others.
