> 3 dayI got this set and LOVED it! This set is very cheap for how many pieces it has and it is fun to build! It took me a couple hours a day for three days to build it. This will work well as a gift for ages 12+. I am twelve and I was able to construct it with no problems. The rocket separates into stages very well, but it takes some practice. The set stands one meter tall which is very impressive, and makes it my best lego set yet! This set comes with three micro figures plus one spare. The lunar lander goes in the top of the rocket, and you can easily pop off the cover and replace it with the capsule that splashes down onto Earth. Again, I would recommend this set for a excellent gift!

> 3 daythis kit is amazing. You will be amazed at the level of detail that went into its design and how good it looks when put together. It is realistic, beautiful, and a pleasure to build. Its also larger and more imposing than I anticipated, reflecting the grandeur of the original Saturn V. The included figurines really help to put the scale of this rocket into proportion. It is one thing to have seen those spectacular launch images, but to see a physical, realistic model is quite another! Its modular, so you can easily snap the first, second, third stage, and CSM apart. Theres even room for the LEM inside the Lunar Module Adaptor! The CSM separates as well allowing you to replay the major maneuvers of the Apollo mission. The model also includes a good looking LEM and 2 set-pieces so that you can mount and display the LEM with the astronaut figurines on lunar soil (US flag included!) and the CM after its ocean landing. I can think of only a few minor improvements. (1) The Launch Escape System is difficult to separate from the Command Module, meaning that you cant easily dock the CM with the LEM (one of the pivotal maneuvers of the Apollo missions). This is however possible with the LEM that is intended for the ocean landing set-piece (also a niece touch BTW!). The CM on the rocket is also just one single piece that is completely white with no detail whatsoever. This may approximate how it looked at launch time, but even a few small surface details would have made it look much better (2) The LEM is not easily mounted in the Lunar Module Adapter. It needs a stud that is already used by lunar set piece, but the kind of quick release snap used to keep the stages together would have been better. Overall I would say a LOT of pieces and detail went into the (often invisible) internals of the first, second, and third stages, but the the CSM, LEM, Launch Escape System, and Lunar Module Adaptor are not as well developed. Thats a shame because those are arguably the most interesting parts of the rocket. That said, this is an amazing kit and you will not be disappointed. Thanks Lego!

Greater than one weekThis set is INCREDIBLE! Totally recommend to anyone who is even vaguely interested. Im 52 years old and it totally brought out the 10 year old in me. Total build time was about 8 hours, 6 beers, 2 gin & tonics, and I took my time with it over a few days. The first stage is the most time consuming. It was just fascinating how it all came together in the end. Now I want to take it apart and do it all over again. Next purchases will be the Vonado umbilical tower, and lighting kit.

> 3 dayI absolutely love this set. It was a lot of fun to assemble and took a decent amount of time. There were not many repetitive steps which was nice as it kept things exciting. The model is very large and looks wonderful when you display it. You are able to take apart the various pieces of the rocket as well as place the lunar module inside if you so choose. You wont be disappointed purchasing this set especially if youre a space fan!

> 3 dayThis set coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Saturn V moon landing! So you know that I just HAD TO GET IT! Im really really glad that I did! This is the tallest build that Lego has ever had as a set! Standing at a meter tall this ship is massive! When comparing pictures of the real thing to the set the designers nailed it! This set might not include regular minifigures but they tried to scale it by using very tiny versions of the regular figures which didnt bother me but it might not be for other people. I have always love building Legos and enjoying the construction and design elements have always been my favorites! I HIGHLY recommend you consider this set! :D

> 3 dayThe first stage of this Saturn V LEGO kit has a fatally flawed central core relying on a 2x2 plate mating with a 2x2 block. Yes, the outer skin does enhance the structure but the small core pieces make construction unnecessarily difficult and affect the long-term stability of the final build. Additionally, the tiles used for the outer skin will pop-off occasionally. This is actually my second Saturn V LEGO kit. A few years ago I built it the first time and within months the first stage had collapsed requiring a full rebuild or the trash can (I chose the latter). That was my first and only LEGO kit. I decided to take another leap this last April and since have purchased and constructed more than 30 kits including the ISS, Lunar Module, and various Star Wars, Marvel, and Harry Potter kits. With my enhanced experience I decided to take another attempt on the Saturn V (being only $119 helped the decision). This time however I came up with a more permanent solution…Gorilla Glue. Five and a half 5.5 ounce bottles with the precision tip (yes, I know there are larger bottles but I prefer the precision possible with the smaller bottles). Over 80% of the pieces including all the core structural, external, and tile pieces have been built using Gorilla Glue. Instead of my usual 6-8 hour build time of some larger kits I built before, I took a whole week, allowing the glue to cure after completing each major structure (sometimes after each bag). The completed build is more solid than any other LEGO kit I own and should last a long time. I also did not lose any usability as each stage can still separate, etc. One caveat about using glue…make sure you follow the LEGO instructions exactly and make sure all the pieces are aligned properly. One mistake could make the whole build fail. I made a couple of minor mistakes but corrected them before the glue could set. The set is great if properly assembled but the designer made some seriously bad choices. UPDATE - Built my own Launch Tower (See Photo) Since LEGO doesn’t make a kit and the few made by Chinese manufacturers have poor reputations for quality and poor instructions, I designed and built my own. I found some good blueprints from NASA and period photos. I designed the tower in MS Paint to figure out how many of each piece I would need. I then ordered individual LEGO bricks and pieces from Amazon and LEGO online. The only pieces that aren’t LEGO are the inverted V shaped lattice work. For the lattice work I bought 6” red plastic swizzle sticks from Amazon cut to size and applied with glue by hand.

Greater than one weekGreat build. ALMOST as nice as the Shuttle Discovery with Hubble telescope (which is amazing). Relatively affordable by Lego standards and a great gift for self or any space or lego enthusiast.

> 3 dayBought this in 2017, it sat on a shelf in the garage until I finally built it a day ago. This is the first Lego Ideas set Ive purchased. Very smooth assembly, sturdy, and its just a fantastic, aesthetically beautiful model. An amazing tribute to the handful of brave American men that went to the moon. Now I regret not buying 2 of these when they were $120 (a great price at the time).

> 3 dayFor the first time in many decades I bought a Lego Set. Important disclaimer: Lego sees it quite differently, but since this is my review and I am just a consumer, I can pull this off: In this review I will use „Lego“ as a generic term for all building brick brands. However, LEGO will refer to the Danish Lego company Unboxing: A Box with a box containing the Set-Box. And still slight damage to the Set-Box. Two seals are keeping the Set closed. And then? What is this? What happens to the high quality cardboard inserts inside the box? The bags are just falling out? Booo! The Manual: At one point, the manual comes out along with the brick-bags. It is inside a bag, too and I am not brave enough to open it. It just looks to well. It looks so nice, touching it might ruin it. The manual is not spiral bound but a real paperback, 8 by 10 inches with almost 200 pages. And thanks god, there is a PDF available! Good Job LEGO! BIG like! The manual starts with some pages telling a little bit about the Apollo project, the Saturn V, the journey and the set designers with some really nice pictures. And then the same pages repeat in French. And in Spanish. I think that is wasting some space, that could have been used to show even more cool pictures. Anyway, after that introduction the only thing to be read will be Arabic. Arabic Numbers of course, otherwise it would be quite hard to read, I guess. Building: Easy-peasy. Really. One bag out of twelve at a time. The very small pieces will be in another bag, inside that bag. So I pull up the manual and start building. There is a piece separator in the very first bag. For that oops moment you will eventually run into. Well, generations of Lego builders survived without it, but it is there in case you are concerned about your fingernails. Each bag is having some stages. Each stage is represented in a single chapter and every chapter consists of steps. Sometimes really underwhelming complex steps. I mean, you have pre-sorted pieces. And really, taking two of them and just put them side-by-side as a step? Underwhelming. I think the most complicated step involves eight bricks, to be combined into 4 components of 2 bricks and to be mounted symmetrically on a plate. Caveat: it seems the manual is not straight forward. Sometimes you build the same component multiple times. However, the manual either says how many pieces you need in total, or per single component. That is getting a little bit confusing, especially at the end where you combine components to larger components that you need more than once. Sticker: Oh, what a pest. Stickers, Stickers, Stickers. A good reason to avoid any Lego Set. Not here! There are ZERO stickers in this set. Each and every graphic is a print! Seriously. VERY well done, LEGO. Please make that a practice for every set - it makes a difference! Conclusion: Bombastic! Heavy! Robust! One Meter (~1.093613298 Yards) Rocket. ~120 US-$? Yes, a little bit pricey but the price-value ration is a lot better than with some other sets from LEGO. Basically a no brainier if you are in Lego. A steal for the LEGO price level. The building technique is interesting and some patterns are repetitive. Naturally as you have a long cylinder to build. But it is cool and interesting at many other steps, never got bored.

> 3 dayThe rocket creation was amazing, it had a lot of detail and was carefully engineered to perfection. I had one slight problem, the box came with one lego part missing, the part name is 6022470 (a arch type piece). I was really sad because this piece completed the body of the rocket perfectly. I built my rocket on a clear space in my living room but at first I thought I lost the piece by accident but after looking everywhere for it, I could not find it.
