Greater than one weekLego retired this set years ago. I must have inspired good karma somewhere, because the Saturn V popped up in Deal of the Day last month for a ridiculously reasonable price. No idea how they got their hands on these, but after drooling over this set for over a decade, Im not asking questions. I dont buy expensive toys, but this is something else. If youre a fan of NASA or ever wanted to do a big Lego project, this is the one to do, hands down.

Greater than one weekIm an old space nut from way back. I am old enough to still vividly remember the Apollo moon missions and when I saw this, I knew I had to have it. Up to this time the only other real option for me was the Revel set that required gluing and painting. Didnt have the patience to do a project like that and when I saw this one, I went oh yeah, I can do this. Got this one and off I went. Took me quite a bit longer to build this than the youtubers did it but I got it done. A lot of satisfaction for me to both build it and have it displayed to enjoy looking at. The set is pretty detailed and stages come apart when wanting to simulate a mission with the exception of the service module/lunar lander/apollo command module. That could have been done a little better for people who want to simulate a mission in addition to just having it to display. All in all, a very nice good looking build with a good price.

Greater than one weekFrustration free packaging Is the way to go! All that means is the box you would get at the store is shipped in a Lego factory box. So you get the fancy display box from the store in the factory box. It was a little complicated at times for my 9 year old but it is awesome for us space nuts. Then again we have plenty of time during this lockdown to build, and rebuild if needed. Finished all 3 feet and 1,969 pieces of the Lego Saturn-V. Comes apart in all three stages, Service Module comes off, has a little LEM (Lunar Module) with storage, and 2 different Command Modules for your choosing. Also can put the LEM on a moonscape, and the Command Module on a splash down Oceanscape. Really I was wondering how this would go. Not disappointed at all.

> 3 daythis kit is amazing. You will be amazed at the level of detail that went into its design and how good it looks when put together. It is realistic, beautiful, and a pleasure to build. Its also larger and more imposing than I anticipated, reflecting the grandeur of the original Saturn V. The included figurines really help to put the scale of this rocket into proportion. It is one thing to have seen those spectacular launch images, but to see a physical, realistic model is quite another! Its modular, so you can easily snap the first, second, third stage, and CSM apart. Theres even room for the LEM inside the Lunar Module Adaptor! The CSM separates as well allowing you to replay the major maneuvers of the Apollo mission. The model also includes a good looking LEM and 2 set-pieces so that you can mount and display the LEM with the astronaut figurines on lunar soil (US flag included!) and the CM after its ocean landing. I can think of only a few minor improvements. (1) The Launch Escape System is difficult to separate from the Command Module, meaning that you cant easily dock the CM with the LEM (one of the pivotal maneuvers of the Apollo missions). This is however possible with the LEM that is intended for the ocean landing set-piece (also a niece touch BTW!). The CM on the rocket is also just one single piece that is completely white with no detail whatsoever. This may approximate how it looked at launch time, but even a few small surface details would have made it look much better (2) The LEM is not easily mounted in the Lunar Module Adapter. It needs a stud that is already used by lunar set piece, but the kind of quick release snap used to keep the stages together would have been better. Overall I would say a LOT of pieces and detail went into the (often invisible) internals of the first, second, and third stages, but the the CSM, LEM, Launch Escape System, and Lunar Module Adaptor are not as well developed. Thats a shame because those are arguably the most interesting parts of the rocket. That said, this is an amazing kit and you will not be disappointed. Thanks Lego!

> 3 dayDid this with my 3 year old daughter. We had a blast. (No pun intended) It took 5 hours or so over 2 days. I ended up building the last 2 bags of parts myself just because they were small. Wish they had more stuff like this. Even sci fi stuff. Like say the Star Trek Enterprise? NCC 1701 not 1701D. But both versions would be cool. Talking to you Lego.

> 3 dayThis Lego set is a model of the Saturn V rocket. The Saturn V, which was the most powerful rocket ever brought to operational status, was used by NASA to launch the manned missions to the Moon back in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Also included in this set are a miniature Lunar Module (LM) with astronaut figurines and a depiction of the Apollo command module as it looked at splashdown. I am not a Lego enthusiast and this is actually the first time I have gotten a Lego set since I was a kid. Certainly there is a trend for the past several years from Lego to design and release sets that are targeted more toward the teenage and adult demographic, including this set. Having a long interest in the history of the space program and also having heard this set praised by space enthusiasts on YouTube, I finally decided to get this set for myself. All around, I was impressed with this. To start, the set comes with a detailed instruction booklet. I found that the assembly instructions were very clear and easy to follow. There was no point during assembly in which I was hopelessly confused. It certainly is much more complicated than the kind of Lego sets I used to play with when I was young, but this made the build much more satisfying. The pieces come in twelve separately labeled bags which are used sequentially. This made finding the pieces you need for a particular step quick. It took me about four hours in total to build it. The actual model, once complete, looks great. As is depicted in the pictures and information for this set, the complete model can be broken down into its component stages. Just like the actual Saturn V rocket, this model includes the separate S-IC first stage, S-II second stage, S-IVB third stage, lunar module, and command/service module with the launch escape tower. The model itself is pretty solid as well. Though hidden by its cylindrical-shaped exterior, the interior contains various parts giving the rocket stages solid cores which makes the model, whether displayed vertically or horizontally, stability. Though it obviously shows its Lego appearance close-up, it still looks good as a model, even if it lacks the details and accuracies of a traditional model. Overall, I think this set is great and I enjoyed assembling it. It may not be for small children, but I think that both space enthusiasts and Lego enthusiasts of the teenage and adult crowd would enjoy this set.

> 3 dayAlways was hoping lego would bring back this set. As soon as I saw this set on Amazon, I knew I had to get it. Assembling this set was straight forward with the included build instructions (Which also doubles up as a collectible, since the beginning has a brief history of the Apollo program, the Saturn V and a typical Apollo mission profile). Some parts were challenging, but nothing a little help from my local lego store couldnt solve. Legos attention to detail on the Saturn V is absolutely superb. They managed to capture the lego version of the Saturn V just as the real Saturn V was. Everything down to the umbilical connections were captured with unwavering detail. The thing that really caught my eye is the sheer size of the lego Saturn V, which stands 39 inches (3.3ft, 1m) tall when displayed vertically, just as massive as its real life counterpart. According to unconfirmed sources, the lego model of the Saturn V is 1:110 scale. If you dont have the room to display it vertically, you can display it horizontally with the included horizontal stands. All in all I really enjoyed building the Saturn V and can now enjoy the model that sits in my room.
