> 3 dayThis thing can crank out the moisture if you need it or just keep you at a steady range works very well in my room and don’t need to refill until 3-4 days from half. Easy instructions and lots of cautions on where to pour your water also a good idea to use distilled water to keep it working for a long time due to the absence of minerals accumulating

Greater than one weekI have owned a few different humidifiers over the years, including the Levoit top-fill .5 humidifier (white round product). This is the BEST one Ive owned so far. It holds enough water to use for at least 2 nights at medium humidity level and works well for small-mid size bedroom. It is as quiet as any Ive encountered--NOT noiseless, but it has only a light hum from the motor and light rippling noises from the water bubbles. I have not noticed any loud gurgling noises from the water that you can experience with other humidifiers as the water moves through the system. You CAN use tap water and Ive not seen any white residue. However, you will need to clean the product every few days (takes 3-5 minutes) with a soft hand towel and the small brush they provide to wipe away the rust/mildew stains to avoid long term staining. Its a reasonable trade-off to make for not buying a few gallons of distilled water each week. This is easier to clean than the small Levoit humidifier, but there are a couple spots that can be a bit hard to access. I dont use the internet app--the manual functions are fine for my needs (turn/on and off and leave on at a set humidity level). One caveat: If you want to use the night mode function to dim the display (which is bright), it requires you to use auto mode rather than selecting a humidity level (you have to use the app to do that in night mode). I solve this by putting a picture frame an inch in front of the display at night--not ideal, but fine solution to eliminate the brightness to avoid using an unnecessary app. Overall, im pleased with the product. It does the important things well: Good humidity, good water capacity, not annoyingly noisy and reasonable to clean if using tap water.

> 3 dayThis has worked flawlessly since I started using it. However, Im docking a star because the app is required in order to set humidity levels, and I got tired of the app trying to sell me things. Make an app that exists to improve functionality, rather than push products on me, and I will give five stars.

Greater than one weekThis is great for keep room from being dry. I have felt a difference in my skin which I didnt think about when I bought it but for people with dry or sensitive skin it also help with that a little. The extra filter really make you realize how normal water from sink is pretty dirty. I got a Britta to use with this because you will be cleaning every other day with tap water use but will have to clean way less with clean filtered water. Smart features make sure it runs when only needed and give notifications when to clean and fill. Aroma therapy isnt that strong with it but they do mention that in the booklet. Fairly easy to clean After a few months the humidity was reading off and was high enough it would not turn on using the auto mode. I found others with the same issue and it seems if when cleaning it if you get ANY water near or in the aroma box area (where Im told the sensor is) it will throw the sensor off. Some say for them it maxes out over 80%, mine is not that bad but enough that it reads 10-15% over my other sensors and would not run. When I turn it on it usually start around 45% and after running a couple of minutes it goes up towards 55%. I still overall like the device but its annoying considering at one point I just fill it with water every day and it does the rest. Ive heard some use an inkbird to work around it but I havent tried myself. Some people claimed shutting it off for a while would fix it but for me it didnt work. When I got it would only read 2-3% different from my other sensors. In the future the manufacturer should make the sensor easy to replace if its a problem thats hard to avoid on a unit with water. Dropped it two stars for this!

> 3 dayI like everything about this product - it works very well, is whisper quiet and easy to control. However, after we used it the first night, there was a white film over EVERYTHING in our large bedroom. Furniture, ceiling fan, recliner, you name it. And it felt a little bit sticky, perhaps from using the diffuser aroma oil that came with it. My wife was not at all happy about it. So in the Q&A, Levoit said if you have minerals in your water, you may get some white residue. Understatement of the year. This product is unusable with San Antonio tap water. Using distilled water would get very expensive. This was probably not a good purchase.

> 3 dayYoull definitely need to filter your water at worst or distill it at best before you use it in this humidifier. All of the minerals in the water you use end up in the air (par for the course for ultrasonics) while this thing is running. Without filtering, Im measuring PM2.5 and PM10 levels up in the upper 100s. Thats like theres a wildfire 20 miles away pollution. After I filter it through a basic Brita-style filter, theyre back around 30-50 with the door open and 80-100 after several hours of the door being closed. Thats like stagnant air in the valley today pollution. And then of course they fall back down to 5-10 when the thing isnt running (normal day outside). The smart feature is useful, but still a little dumb. Its hygrometer is in its base, so its measuring humidity directly around itself. Its usually reading a relative humidity 3-4 points higher than hygrometers I have in other parts of my room (its a kid-bedroom-sized guitar room). The smartness is that you set a target humidity and the machine lets humidity around it fluctuate within 5 points of that target. So, I set the target to 45%. Over the course of a day, the thing turns on until humidity hits 50%. Then it turns off until humidity falls to 40%. Then the cycle repeats. Useful that it does keep your room in the ballpark you want. But 10 points is a wide margin. It means that my guitars on the wall are sometimes seeing 53-55% or 35-40%. It would be extremely useful to set a narrower band around the target value (say 2 points, so 43%-47%). That would give me better control over the parts of the room where humidity actually matters. Cleaning is also something of a hassle. Recommended to rinse it out every three days to avoid bacteria and mold buildup. That means unplugging the base and sort of awkwardly splashing water into it while avoiding the plug and electronics. Very quiet. A very faint hum and then some ASMR-style dripping is what you get while its running. Thats great.

> 3 dayI was looking for a humidifier for our bedroom and initially bought a Vornado model. It definitely performed the job, but BOY was it noisy. Not just the distinct continuous whirring of the humidifier, but a periodic GLUG-GLUG-GLUG ever 30mins or so. Really not suitable for a bedroom. So I went to NYT Wirecutter and looked at their recommendations, settling for this Levoit. Night and day difference! Here is how it is better than the Vornado: * in automatic sleep mode, its so close to silent that it doesnt matter. It delivers humidity easily well enough to be on the other side of the room and I can just barely hear when it is operating, really just the sound of steam escaping. No whirring, clunking or gurgling whatsoever. * thank heavens! a sleep mode where all the lights and displays are 100% turned off. I dont need a light display in my room at night, thanks * top-filling reservoir. The Vornado needed you to remove the reservoir and fill it upside down. This leads to the worrying situation where if you knock the device or mishandle it at all, it might dump the entire contents of the reservoir instantly onto the floor. This is dumb. Its also the reason that the Levoit doesnt glug-glug-glug. * the app is pretty good. Some have complained that it spams you with emails and stuff - it does by default, but you can switch all that off. The app itself makes it easy to set up a schedule where it automatically comes on at - say - 7pm, and switches itself off at 6am, constantly monitoring the humidity and keeping it at 55%, with all the lights stay off all the time. The Vornado could not do this (or I couldnt figure out how to) My only complaint is that although it keeps bugging me to clean it (probably a good idea) its not really clear what an acceptable amount of cleaning is, it just tells you to disassemble it. Otherwise, its an impressively designed and functional piece of equipment. (full disclosure, I used to be a product designer, so I respect the thought and care that went into this device - the team should feel proud or themselves!)
