Ive been re-buying this mouse for over 15 years. Ive tried my fair share of different and more complicated mice, always going back to this one.

The mouse is fine, but why did they have to make the buttons high gloss? It means my fingers constantly stick to the surface and it feels terrible. The G502 and G602 are much more enjoyable to use, plus I miss the thumb rest on those mice which is sorely missing on the MX518. Overall this mouse is very meh.

I have bought 2 of these, i use one at work, one at home. Home consists of gaming primarily, and at work i use several spreadsheets throughout the day, the buttons to control mouse speed are very handy as well as using the thumb buttons to go back or forward on websites is very handy.

The buttons and scroll wheel feels cheap compared to the old version.

I had used a MX 518 as my primary mouse for many years. It finally broke and I was disappointed to find it was no longer made. I tried a few others but was never happy with them. I was skeptical when this was reissued. I figured it was just a cheaper knock off. It does seem to have been cost reduced some, and it is cheaper then the original. But I like it. It works well and it is fast. I had to slow it down. If you were a fan of the original, you will find this a acceptable replacement. Update: I have noticed there has been a large price increase for this mouse. At the current price it’s is much less of a deal. If I was in the market, I would still buy it, but be unhappy with the price.

I have been using the MX518/G400 line for most of my life. Love how they dialed back the gamer design language on this newest model.

Worked great for the first month. Promptly started stuttering after the return window closed. Wouldnt risk wasting your money.

Very comfortable and the weight feels nice and balanced to move around.

I tried many gaming and regular mice, but very few allowed me to.... • rest my hand without my fingers pressing the buttons accidentally • had the browser back/forward buttons in place that was comfortable, and didnt press them accidentally • use a resting palm to navigate, not fingertips or claw • not spend an exorbitant amount of money • not constantly replace batteries, or worry if a distracting power warning, or signal aberration is about to interfere with my gaming in a clutch spot. • have a mouse wheel with a medium amount of resistance, but also offers tactile granularity (it clicks regularly, and consistently, for smooth, reliable scrolling. Not much jerking) This contour style seems to be a throwback, and largely going out of style. This is a shame, but this thumb contour style used to dominate the market, from what I remember. I will likely buy a replacement of this same mouse as soon as my current one shows signs of wear and tear -- but one year in, and its still wonderful.
