Bought for an extended rv road trip and did not disappoint. Cleaned everything we pointed it at, and is able to get at all the small nooks and crannies in an rv. I have also used it on my stairs with similar results. Light and easy to use. The container fills up fast and requires getting your hands a little dirty to clear debris off the filter, especially pet hair. No complaints and no regrets with this purchase.

Bought this for my wife to use to clean about 1,000 sq ft of hardwood floors that have a lot of dog hair accumulation. Like other Makita tools it is decent quality. But some of the reviews were right...the junction of the vacuum and the hose is lose and the hose falls off frequently. I used sand paper to rough up the inside and outside parts which helps a little but it still falls out. And you need the the additional cyclone attachment (another $30 to $40) to make it easy to dump out. That part works fine but it too falls off frequently. If they would have put a ridge that tightens by turning, to keep these pieces together that would have been better. And the attachment for hardwood floors only has an opening of 8 1/8 inches. So you can only clean about 6 inches if you want to overlap a little, which takes a long time to clean a decent size area. I looked for a longer brush attachment and did not find anything from Makina, so I bought one from a vacuum store on line, in the same size, 1-1/4 inch hose, only to find it was a female joint, same as the end of the tube on the Makita I wanted to attach it to. So it would not go on. I used duct tape but that would not allow my wife to take the attachment off, and it did not hold up either, so I then ordered two male pieces from the on line vacuum store, that I plan to epoxy together to get two male ends, to attach the 12 inch brush. The floor attachment provided by Makina has a plastic base and plastic rollers that scratch the floor too (we have hardwood and live near the beach, so there is a lot of sand to vacuum up). The 12 inch attachment that I bought separately has soft bristles all along the bottom on all four sides which does not scratch anything and moves across the floor very easily. So I want to somehow make that attachment work. The battery is heavy. It has a fan on the charger that makes a noise when charging, which was not expected. I have many other battery chargers but none have a fan and the others are in the garage where a little noise does not matter. Getting the battery off the charger is a little tricky too. So overall I was not 100% happy with this product. It seems like Makita made just another product that could be used along with their other battery-operated tools, and did not spend enough time designing this, and getting customer feedback. I have several Makita drills that are outstanding and I expected this vacuum to be outstanding too, but in my view it was disappointing.

A number of years ago I was looking for a hand vac. I read lots of reviews and this one had so much praise, but what impressed me was the positive reviews from men on ease of use because of the extension and the strong suction. One man said he even made it longer for him with pvc pipe. I bought one and it is one of the best investments I have ever made. Since then I have bought five more. Two of those were bought for our oldest son, one for a baby gift and then another one when they bought a two story house ( one for each level). I gave another son one when he and his wife moved. I have three. Two of those are at our primary home and the other at a second home. This vacuum is wonderful! I just got my third one and it came with a wall hanger. None of my others had this. I have looked for the holder as a separate purchase but no success. I hope Makita offers this soon.

I bought this because I was interested in a stick-vac and a friend recommended it. Since I have several Makita cordless tools I already had the charger and batteries so decided to give it a try. I’m very happy with it and use it frequently. It works very well on hardwood and tile floors but not as well on carpet which is no surprise to me. The storage bracket allowed me to conveniently mount it in my broom closet although it does not come with mounting screws which wasn’t a big deal for me, but might be for others. Filters are readily available from third party venders at low cost and are easy to replace. Battery life is good. The only downside is that there is a high-pitched whine when in use which is annoying to me. I don’t tolerate loud noises well so frequently use hearing protection when using this and other power tools and appliances. Since I frequently use the stick-vac to clean up on DIY home projects, I’m typically already wearing hearing protection so it’s not a big deal. I deducted one star for the high-pitched noise and lack of mounting screws.

You would think “shop” vacuum with it being Makita, but this is better than the last 2 “home” vacuums we’ve had. Great suction, battery lasts longer than listed (30min listed, I get 45min to an hour with 3.0 battery. Convenient holster for hanging.

bought this vacum 2 years ago works good! not for thick or shag carpet great for hard wood tile or any hard suface works good on tight weave carpet perfect for me i dont have any shag style carpet, just wanted to add my review after reading others reviews. this vacum is great for quick clean ups before moping and maintenance! not for deep cleaning on carpets you really need somthing that has a motor driven roller brush for that. the plastic tank does crack and break as i saw on others reviews mine has some cracks. when i saw the cracks i odrered a spare tank for $15.00 havent used it yet but i have it just in case. very easy to use and light wieght beats having to plug in a cord and roll it up you spill you can vacum it up and put the vacum away in a minute or 2 very nice

Not actually light to carry, but effective and no annoying cord. Get the plastic barrel attachment. I find it strangely fascinating to watch the interior dust bunny grow, and it prompts you to keep it free of buildup.

Dust cup is very small, filter inside takes up more than half the available space. Keep a garbage can handy for more than just a spot of dust. Not useful for vacuuming your car. Might be good for following your cat around, big Husky? get something larger. Just doesnt have the capacity to hold much. More of a light duster than a project clean up.

I use it in my studio for quick clean-ups around various in-progress projects. Its great to have in between bigger cleaning projects requiring more powerful vacuum. I like having it for its convenience. I wish to attachment size was more universal, to use other vacuum brushes I have laying around, but oh well.
