Greater than one weekI own Makita 120v powered equipment and one battery powered drill, of which is nearing 32 years and still performs well and stored in the original metal carry case. Throughout those years I’ve noticed several tweaks in hand tools by the top producers, and Makita stood with them, if not, led the way. The most significant improvement is the interchangeable portable & rechargeable power platform. Makita rechargeable 18v power packs can be used with over 200 other Makita portable tools without interchange issues and with four levels of ampere hours. With that said, the Makita XLC02ZB vacuum was purchased after several other machines failed to perform within weeks of use. However, keep in mind this vacuum is not a shop vacuum, or for auto detailing, and should not be used as such. If you are seeking a durable handheld vacuum for quick cleanup of light household debris, I highly recommend you consider Makita’s XLC02ZB coupled with a battery & charger starter kit. There is a similar product offered by Makita. The XLC04ZBX4 vacuum tends to be slightly more brutal to debris with 3 speed options and offers locking accessories, which is helpful when fixing the 191D72-1 cyclonic vacuum attachment w/lock and locking extension tubes. Now that the entire assembly looks like a creature from planet Zargon 4X, you’ll be happy to know a full vacuum belly won’t fall off during those pesky bouts with piles of pet fuzz bunnies. If Makita is reading and listening, there is one improvement they should consider for their stick vacuum lineup. The main tank could be designed to lock in place to the power head with simple key-way locks molded into the components in lieu of a twist friction connection, which tends to loosen when in use, and will eventually wear to uselessness, or turn to Duct Tape as a BFF. Just saying…

> 3 dayBought this for my wife to use to clean about 1,000 sq ft of hardwood floors that have a lot of dog hair accumulation. Like other Makita tools it is decent quality. But some of the reviews were right...the junction of the vacuum and the hose is lose and the hose falls off frequently. I used sand paper to rough up the inside and outside parts which helps a little but it still falls out. And you need the the additional cyclone attachment (another $30 to $40) to make it easy to dump out. That part works fine but it too falls off frequently. If they would have put a ridge that tightens by turning, to keep these pieces together that would have been better. And the attachment for hardwood floors only has an opening of 8 1/8 inches. So you can only clean about 6 inches if you want to overlap a little, which takes a long time to clean a decent size area. I looked for a longer brush attachment and did not find anything from Makina, so I bought one from a vacuum store on line, in the same size, 1-1/4 inch hose, only to find it was a female joint, same as the end of the tube on the Makita I wanted to attach it to. So it would not go on. I used duct tape but that would not allow my wife to take the attachment off, and it did not hold up either, so I then ordered two male pieces from the on line vacuum store, that I plan to epoxy together to get two male ends, to attach the 12 inch brush. The floor attachment provided by Makina has a plastic base and plastic rollers that scratch the floor too (we have hardwood and live near the beach, so there is a lot of sand to vacuum up). The 12 inch attachment that I bought separately has soft bristles all along the bottom on all four sides which does not scratch anything and moves across the floor very easily. So I want to somehow make that attachment work. The battery is heavy. It has a fan on the charger that makes a noise when charging, which was not expected. I have many other battery chargers but none have a fan and the others are in the garage where a little noise does not matter. Getting the battery off the charger is a little tricky too. So overall I was not 100% happy with this product. It seems like Makita made just another product that could be used along with their other battery-operated tools, and did not spend enough time designing this, and getting customer feedback. I have several Makita drills that are outstanding and I expected this vacuum to be outstanding too, but in my view it was disappointing.

Greater than one weekIm a single guy living in an apartment, and my entire downstairs is laminate, with a carpeted upstairs. This is perfect for me, especially since the laminate in the kitchen shows every little crumb I drop. This is handy to grab, sweep and go. Its not the most powerful vacuum, but as long as you arent trying to sweep up a garage or alot of pet hair, it is powerful enough to pick up dust, dirt, crumbs and other little things. Also, be sure to keep the filter clean and dump out the mess regularly, to help maintain the motor.

> 3 dayHung the vacuum up in a convenient spot. Super easy to grab and use to make for quick vacuum ups. Bought it for quick small clean ups and we love it so much we have started using it for entire house. Has good suction and does the job well.

> 3 dayA great little utility vacuum for home, car, office, etc. It tackles the dirt of two teens, two toddlers, a cat, and two busy parents. It charges quick, and is quick to deploy thanks to its mount. The wide angle head is large enough to make this vacuum usable for large carpets, the narrow head gets into tight spots well, and the scrub brush head will pry up stubborn dust. I also like that you can take out the neck tubing to use it (with or without attachments) for small/tight areas. I even use it to suck up fruit flies before releasing them outside. We were struggling to find a vacuum that we liked, and I decided to purchase the Makita because it looked very functional. It ended up being our favorite vacuum cleaner yet, and helps us keep our kitchen and living room clean. It also makes short work of vacuuming a car. The battery charges in 20 minutes, and lasts a good amount of time between charges. We havent noticed issues with cracking, and were pretty rough on things. You do have to clean it from time to time.

> 3 dayI hated using my big corded vacuum. I hated trying to shove the vacuum head into places where it didnt want to go. I hated the onboard tools that fell overboard and were a pain to use. I especially hated repositioning the plug and trying not to run over the cord. I also hated my corded hand vac that screamed so loudly it made my ears ring. So when I bought a Makita drill I ordered this little cordless vacuum (tool only) to go with it. Its great! The suction is enough. Its easy to swap out the slot tool, but seldom necessary as the slim vacuum head fits into small spaces and picks up right to the front edge. Its handy for awkward places like the basement stairs. Its about as quiet as an efficient vacuum can be. A 5-minute daily cleanup and dust dump is all I need now and my 3.0Ah battery seems to last forever. I should add that I do not have carpet. This vacuum works very well on bare wood, concrete, and low-pile rugs, but I would guess that if you have deep-pile carpet you might not be quite so happy with it.

> 3 dayWe love this over-priced vacuum and use it daily. When it stopped working after 3 months because of a dead charger, I expected a quick replacement from Makita. Instead, I had to mail the charger to a repair center and wait more than a month before they mailed the replacement! I called Makita and asked that they simply send a new charger but nope, they have a stupid policy and by golly they cling to it. Too bad because otherwise, I would be writing about to say how well it works.

> 3 daybought this vacum 2 years ago works good! not for thick or shag carpet great for hard wood tile or any hard suface works good on tight weave carpet perfect for me i dont have any shag style carpet, just wanted to add my review after reading others reviews. this vacum is great for quick clean ups before moping and maintenance! not for deep cleaning on carpets you really need somthing that has a motor driven roller brush for that. the plastic tank does crack and break as i saw on others reviews mine has some cracks. when i saw the cracks i odrered a spare tank for $15.00 havent used it yet but i have it just in case. very easy to use and light wieght beats having to plug in a cord and roll it up you spill you can vacum it up and put the vacum away in a minute or 2 very nice

> 3 dayThis is perfect if you don’t want to get out the heavy vacuum. Battery last much longer than the older, white Mikita.
