This software is a must have for those of you who want to organize your recipes and know the nutritional information too! I am in the process of importing all of my recipes and genuinely enjoy how easy this product is to use.

its good and does as advertised. but the how-to instuctions arent user friendly unless you have a degree from m.i.t.

The programs user interface hasnt been updated since 2000 and on modern monitors the text is teeny tiny and cramped (see screencap). Theres no way to increase the text size for the main program except to use Windows 10s built-in scaling, which makes all your other programs HUGE. The companys customer service isnt helpful at all, insisting that it isnt a MasterCook problem and that I should just use Windowss built-in scaling to make their interface readable. Im not even using a particularly high resolution monitor (1920x1080), but according to their customer service rep the program is optimized for 1024x768, which hasnt been the most common resolution since 2006. (You can adjust the text size for recipes youre viewing and/or printing, so I have no idea why its so hard for them to do the same for the main interface!)

This program allows you to share a group cookbook. My program doesnt work. Heres the response to my problem from the Technical Support supervisor:

Im still learning the ins and outs of the updated software. I was using a very old 2002 release of this program. Im finding interface between the software, app, and website to be really kind of pointless, and hard to use. Also, the recipe import tool should be much easier to use, but its very awkward. Overall, I love the software. It formats my recipes, and lets me categorize them as I need to. Im developing a cookbook system and blog, and this software is tremendously helpful. I suppose I could make do with some freeware and use Google Drive to manage my recipes, but the ease of input and auto formatting MasterCook provides is so helpful. Ive used this software for 15 years now and LOVE it.

I have a difficult time with the program. No good direction for it. Wanted to like it because I had another program but it hooked up to the internet and it was more and more difficult to use. I am 73 and really not all that tech savvy.

I have used MasterCook since I first found a CD at a bookstore many years ago. I have always liked this product and found it to be incredibly useful.

I couldnt get the trial version to work and I contacted customer support. They were so helpful. If you are running Windows 10 with Edge, you have to do a couple of things before it will import recipes from the internet. Once they helped me figure out the problem and fix it, I went ahead and bought the program. It makes cookbooks the way you want to, and copies a recipe so easily. I love the program.

Like others, I have used Mastercook for 20 some odd years, and am now really impressed with this new version. I had finally decided to pull all of the paper copies of recipes I had gathered from the 70s until now and put them into Mastercook. There are hundreds. When I read that I could download from the web just by hitting Add To Mastercook, the job of that conversion was made SOOOO much easier. Even the processing of editing where necessary before adding is a snap. Yes, there are some that cannot be found, but maybe only 5%, so not a big deal. I also pulled together the recipes that I had kept online at sites like Epicurious, etc. so that I really have only one place to look, and organize, and make shopping lists. And I love the redundancy of the web storage, so if anything happens to my computer, I can reload the program and re-sync the files. Even the mobile app is a killer. Go into a store, find a great deal on, lets say game hens, pull up your game hen recipes, pick one and figure out what else you need to complete the recipe. Life is good.
