works very nicely. driver update was a bit of a mystery, before searching some forums. To get into update mode, you need to hold the sync button down while plugging in the USB. After updating the firmware, you can change the button config to match an xbox controller.

Does exactly as advertised here, its a no-nonsense PC adapter for your Wii U Pro controllers. There are some oddities with its direct input mode which render it incompatible with Steam - it will detect that you have a controller plugged in, and you can even navigate around the menus with the dpad / analog sticks, but you cant change the configuration at all and it accepts no other controller inputs. I suspect this may have something to do with how the adapter presents itself in direct input mode, and how steam expects to receive controller input. Steam does not automatically load a user profile for this controller either, so I suspect that nobody else has figured this out and that im not the only one with the problem. If you were planning to use this device with Steam Big Picture mode (say, for in-home streaming and multiple Wii U Pro controllers, for example), this will not work for you. Steam only recognizes it and accepts input from it in xinput mode, which only allows you to use one controller per adapter. It is 100% functional as an xinput device, all xinput compatible software sees it and accepts it as an xinput controller in that mode. As shipped, the button mapping is 1:1 (ie: A=A, B=B, X=X, Y=Y), even though Microsoft and Nintendo place these buttons in different locations on the controller. A firmware update released in February of this year allows you to press a button combination on the controller in order to reverse the mappings, which places the buttons back where youd expect them to be. The software couldve been a little more intuitive, though - I couldnt get it to work on my primary computer, and their directions left me wondering if I was just doing something wrong. So, heres what you have to do: Download the firmware updater from maysofts website, and run it as administrator. Youll see a single greyed out button that says update firmware. Unplug the device, and set it to xinput mode. Press and hold the sync button, and keep it held as you plug it in. If you did it right, Windows will detect a different device than usual, and the red light on your adapter will NOT light up. At this point, the update firmware button on the software will be clickable, and you can proceed to update the firmware. Leave it plugged in until the software tells you that the update was completed, it shouldnt take long. If this process exactly as I described doesnt work for you, something went wrong in the process and your only real choice is to try it on a different computer, which can be inconvenient or simply not possible for some. Since its a firmware change on the device and not a software update on your OS, once updated, the button combination will work to change the button layout no matter what computer its plugged into, which is nice. With this update, the controller can be considered to be completely interchangeable with every other Xinput device on the market, and no longer requires its own special button mappings. I previously gave this adapter 4 stars, but now that theyve updated it, I believe its worth 5 stars.

I bought the Mayflash SNES to USB adapter before for emulation purposes, and while that worked (and still works) great, I wanted to be wireless while gaming on my HTPC in my living room. I wanted something close to the original SNES pad as possible, and while the Dualshock 3 and 4 are excellent, they dont feel like a Nintendo product. I got this adapter to use the Wii U Pro Controller and it works without a hitch. SNES games feel incredible now. The only problem Im having, which isnt much of an issue, is I cant get it to work in DInput mode, only Xinput. The power button on the controller works fine with Xinput, but when I try to power it on with Dinput I get nothing. I have to load control panel and go to gamepad properties for it to turn on. Every time. Id rather use it in that mode just so it wouldnt conflict with my Xbox 360 adapter and the numbering of those pads, but either Im missing something or it doesnt work like that. Either way, still a very solid plug and play product.

This is the fourth Mayflash adapter for the pc I own, and like the other three it does a good job. The only problem mayflash has is that their instructions arent always clear or right. Thus you sometimes have to hunt down quick guides or tutorials from other users. This happened when I tried to get the new update to work that allows you to swap between xbox 360 and wii u pro button mappings. (As the X/Y and A/B buttons are reversed) Though all you have to do after downloading the update is to unplug the adapter, hold down the sync button, and then plug it back in. Windows should update the drivers which unlocks the installation program, and from there all you need to do is hold start+B for a few seconds to make x/y and a/b swap as is on an xbox 360 controller, and hold start+A for a few seconds to revert it back to the wii u pro mappings. (A good way to find out how long is needed to hold the buttons and/or whether or not it worked is via the game controller settings in devices & printers) Oh, and for those interested in the turbo button feature, it seems to only work while in direct input mode so youll need a third party direct input to xinput emulator to use it with xinput-only games.

Slightly odd how the game thinks you are using an xbox controller, the A B X Y mapped on the Xbox controller are mapped to the literal matching A B X Y on the Wii U Pro Controller. Which means their positions are different.

It worked as intended and took little time to understand how to set up. Used it to play COD and some emulators

It does the job and does it well. I wish that only one adaptor was needed to emulate Xbox controllers for multiple players, but, other than that, it does everything I want it to do. Plus, for less than the price of a set of Xbox 360 controllers, I can use the excellent Wii U controllers I already have to play Steam games from my couch! I bought two of them for the same machine, so I can even play multiplayer games with a friend. Like I said, the one XBox-emulated controller per adaptor is an annoyance, but buying two of these is still cheaper than buying controllers for a system I dont own just to play Steam games on my PC.

If you plan to use a Wii U Pro Controller with your PC, do yourself a favor and just buy this. It really is plug and play. Just plug it to your computer, wait a few seconds for the drivers to install automatically, and when its done, just press the sync button on both this guy and your controller and youre done. It even syncs faster than syncing your controller to a Wii U. Dont know why, dont really care. Forget about tutorials on Youtube about how to setup other blue tooth devices, downloading the correct drivers, and all that stuff that makes you waste time without knowing for sure if its going to work or not. Just get this guy, its worth it.

100% does what it says. The Wii U Pro Controller is (in my opinion) the greatest controller to exist as of yet. The ability to use this controller on my PC, or even on a PS3 as well as my WiiU makes this adapter worth it. Though, when using the device in xinput to make the computer think it is an xbox controller, its a little weird considering Xboxs button letters are different than Nintendos has been forever, so keep in mind that when theyre asking you to hit X, it means the Y button on the Wii U Pro Controller

Functioning distance of up to 33 feet away from adapter. Input switch with 2 input protocol modes for extra versatility. Direct input (standard hid protocol) supports 4 controllers at the same time. Xinput (xbox 360 controller protocol) supports one controller per individual adapter. All buttons (except for power button), shoulder triggers, analog sticks and their clicking tops are fully functional. Compatible with Windows 98,xp,Vista and Windows 7 and Windows 8(32 bit and 64 bit versions). Operation notes - how to set the turbo function? To set turbo for individual buttons, press and hold the home button and the button you wish to set turbo for. To remove the setting for that specific button, press and hold the home button and the button you previously set turbo for. To clear all turbo settings for all buttons, quickly press the home button twice within half of a second. If the input switch is set to the direct input mode, the controllers are recognized as standard human interface device. Your controllers can be calibrated at the windows gamepad setup screen. Up to four controllers can be recognized by a single adapter while in this mode. Setting the switch to xinput mode will make it possible to fool certain pc games which lock out proper input modes from the user unless an xbox controller is attached (for a list of these games, check Wikipedia). While in xinput mode vibration feedback is available. The drawback is that while in this mode, only one controller can be recognized by the adapter. If you want to map your buttons to keyboard keys, look for joy2key software online.
