For backpacking and camping, this knife is a great choice. While it is stainless, its a stainless that can rust, meaning it has enough carbon to be a useful steel for the field. Is very sharp, handles well, great sheath. Perfect knife to bury in your pack. For survival, this thing will certainly do. (Do not baton wood with this thing, batoning is overblown. Treat it like a knife and itll serve without fail.)

Sheath could be improved For the average everyday user this knife is great. If youve had a mora before you know what youre getting for quality already. The Molle attachment setup is not bad if thats how youre looking to mount it. And the belt carry strap is also nice. I wish they had the retaining strap usable with belt carry no just the mole setup. So I modified mine a little. It was a great carry all week during a hunting trip. And I never worried about it getting loose or rattling once combining the two strap setups.

The ferro rod left much to be desired. Replaced it with an exotac fire rod and now I’ll be taking this everywhere with me outdoors.

The knife was razor sharp out of the box and is light and well balanced. The blades compound grind makes for a great all around camp knife.

The Morakniv Kansbol Fixed Blade Knife with Sandvik Stainless Steel Blade is a true gem for outdoor enthusiasts and survivalists. This knife has quickly become my go-to companion for all my outdoor adventures. The quality and craftsmanship of the Morakniv Kansbol are exceptional. The Sandvik stainless steel blade is razor-sharp and holds its edge exceptionally well. It effortlessly tackles various tasks, from slicing through ropes and branches to preparing meals in the wilderness. One aspect that sets this knife apart is its versatility. The blade design strikes the perfect balance between strength and precision. The scandi grind allows for controlled carving and feathering, while the robust tip excels in piercing and prying tasks. The spine of the blade is also finely crafted, making it ideal for striking a fire starter or producing sparks with a ferro rod. The handle of the Kansbol is comfortable and provides a secure grip, even in wet or cold conditions. The durable construction ensures long-lasting performance, standing up to the demands of rugged outdoor use. Whether youre a camper, hiker, hunter, or survival enthusiast, the Morakniv Kansbol Fixed Blade Knife is a reliable and versatile tool that wont disappoint. Its outstanding quality, versatility, and reliability make it an excellent investment for anyone in need of a dependable outdoor knife.

What can I say? I like Moras... The Kansbol (center) is an excellent tool. If you want a cutter, this is it. With the two different grinds on the blade, this thins out at the end and is hair popping sharp. Im not sure I would baton with this (unlike with the Mora Robust) due to the thin end of the blade, but it makes up for it in detail work/cut-ability. Ive had and used Moras for years and as yet, have not had one fail at any task despite not having a full tang. These are excellent, affordable knives and in my experience, up to any task you put before it.

This is a review of the Morakniv Kansbol w/ Survival Fixed Blade Knife I have been looking for a good quality fixed blade/survival knife; they’re really useful when we go camping. I have heard about Morankiv and wanted to give this a try. I am happy to say we like it a lot. The knife sheath itself looks a little on the cheap side, but don’t let that fool you. This is a very sharp and very sturdy-feeling knife. It’s got some heft but not too much. The grip is fantastic which is very important, obviously. The other big plus is that the knife comes with a locking mechanism on the sheath so you don’t have to worry about your kids (or yourself) accidentally having it slip out. Overall, I am quite impressed. Recommended; a quality knife at a reasonable cost.

    - Size: The size of this knife is great for most outdoor activities. It is a little over 4 inches long and 2.5mm (3/32”) wide. Without the sheath, it is 8-7/8” long. With the sheath, it comes to 9-1/2” long. Sheath is 1-5/8” wide. The whole kit weighs just 6.2 ounces (177 grams)! - Steel: As the blade is made of stainless steel, it should hold up quite well outdoors and in humid conditions. I like this as stainless steel holds its edge well while withstanding moisture. Morakniv has two types of stainless steel they use, 12C27 and 14C28N, hardened to HRC 56-58. The exact type is not listed anywhere. - Handle: The light-colored material on the sides is hard plastic, while the darker wrapping material has a rubber-like feel and grip. - Sheath: The polymer sheath fits and protects the blade nicely. There are two holes in the bottom for draining water and letting the inside of the sheath ‘breath.’ I love that the sheath color matches the handle color. I got the orange version which makes it hard to lose while outdoors. - Attachments: Both the belt loop and the fire starter hold fast to the sheath but can be detached with a firm tug. This allows for lighter gear/knife when the extra items aren’t necessary. - Tang: The knife is not a full tang knife, but like most Moraknivs, the tang ends about 2/3 up into the handle. This type of tang lightens the knife’s weight while keeping it firmly attached to the handle. You can see the tang profile on the company’s website. - Fire Starter: This baby works great! Just scrape off the protective paint, and the exposed Ferro rod offers a big spark to help start a campfire. What is great is the back of the knife has a 90-degree grind which makes sparking a fire with the rod so much easier and more convenient. Perfect for any survival situation. - Belt loop: I really like this style of belt loop as it keeps the handle of the blade lower than your rib cage. This is important because if you slip and fall, you don’t want the handle of your knife to ram upward and clobber your bottom rib. - This is a first-class knife that is useful for any outdoor activity. It works great for hunting, hiking, camping, scouting, bushcrafting, outdoor survivalist, etc. - Trusted name: Morakniv is a well known name and has been associated with quality knives for many decades. The company has a long track record of making quality knives. The above review is for Morakniv Kansbol w/ Survival Kit

I seem to have gotten a returned knife. The tip was chipped, like someone tried prying with it, and there were fingerprints and plier marks on the blade. Starting to like Amazon less and less.

I have bought several mora knives in past. I was drawn to this one as perfect blend of weight size and sheath. It is my standard edc trail knife now for backcountry hike and mountain biking. It is light versatile and quality that is perfect.
