01-06-2025I have bought several mora knives in past. I was drawn to this one as perfect blend of weight size and sheath. It is my standard edc trail knife now for backcountry hike and mountain biking. It is light versatile and quality that is perfect.

> 3 dayLet me preface this by saying I am a huge Morakniv fangirl! They are my favorite workhorse knives, I use my Companion and my Garberg for everything inside the house and out in the bush when I hike the mountains! Moraknivs are made with pride and it shows in the product. Theyre made of average steel, but its decent metal and really properly heat treated to get the most out of the tool. I think the plastic handles are very comfortable, ergonomic, and durable, and I love how lightweight the knives are as I have arthritis and any reduction in fatigue factor is a plus for me. I have had several Companions in my life and love them, theyre the best for food prep and light carving work! You CAN abuse your Companion, but I am gentle with mine. Then I got the Garberg, and it is a beast! But I felt like something was still missing. The Companion is flexible, slender, and wonderfully lightweight to use. The Garberg is extremely thick, it blasts through chunks of wood and anything in its path. I wanted something that was a little of both, something the best of both worlds. The Morakniv Kansbol is that blade! Its a little beefier and bigger than the Companion, so it feels a bit more substantial in your hand, but its not as thick and heavy as the Garberg, and also, the geometry of the Kansbol blade is extremely unique and effective for what its born to do. Its a more agile blade, excellent for delicate carving and fine tasks, but it still has enough beef to work larger chunks of wood down. The Kansbol blade has a thicker portion near the handle and it thins out quite dramatically towards the tip of the blade. If you carve wood a lot, youll understand why those different grinds can be useful. It also came to me razor sharp. That thin tip is absolutely wicked! Kansbol comes with a hard plastic sheath as with other Morakniv and I really like these style sheaths. They click shut securely and the belt loop is good for me. Morakniv does have other options for how to carry their knives, but this basic option is my favorite. By the way, you can strike a ferro rod with the spine of this knife. Just so you know! Actually, for me, if you ask me to choose between the Companion, Kansbol, and Garberg... especially if it was my first Morakniv, I would recommend this Kansbol! You really will not be disappointed. Youre getting a very fine tool that will give you many long years of fine service! My Kansbol is the knife I carry everywhere with me. That used to be the Companion, but I think the Kansbol is so awesome and works great for my needs. Garberg is amazing, worth the cost as well; but she is my camp knife, not my everyday carry knife, she is too heavy and thick for some things like cutting food. So whether youve been thinking about getting your first Morakniv, or youre looking to add more of these awesome Moraknivs to your collection, I recommend you to try this one out! I chose the color burnt orange, and its beautiful in person. I like the green as well but I am saving that color for my fiances Christmas present! :)

02-06-2025Sheath could be better but exactly what I was looking for as a beginner survival/bush craft knife. Several months have passed and I still use it every chance I get

> 3 dayI love this knife. It is lightweight, sharp as hell, scrapes Ferro rods like a boss. I also like the ambidextrous sheath …for memory issues lol. I used it to my daughters Ferro fire starting. Scraped rods many times with zero issues and it cleaned up all purdy like afterwards

> 3 dayGreat knife! I have several different Mora knives of varying sizes and builds. This one rivals the heavy duty version of the Companion for heft and use. The 90° spine is a plus, as is the small ferro rod included. Theres also a diamond sharpening strip, but Ill never use that except for chipped edge repair as its way too coarse to maintain the fine edge this comes with. Ill stick with whetstones and stropping, thanks. Seems like a gimmick rather than practical. The dual grind is interesting and functional for finer work near the tip. While I prefer carbon steel for bushcraft, this one has the stainless blade. Its JUST a hair thinner than I like for serious crafting like batonning, but is still robust enough for that - could be just a little thicker, especially when using the more brittle stainless. This ones going in my hiking pack.
