> 3 dayI bought two of these. Four months in, my modem started dropping internet. My cable provider came and the tech spent 3.5 hours trying to diagnose the cause. He systematically unplugged everything on my network and reconnected everything while his supervisor watched the modem remotely to determine what connection was causing internet to be dropped. One of my two NETGEAR GS308 switches turned out to be the problem. NETGEAR wants the customer to pay return shipping costs even during the warranty period. Why on earth would I pay 1/2 the cost of an item to get it replaced? Can you hear my disappointment?

> 3 daySot there is a slightly cheaper version made of plastic and even cheaper no-name brands. , but, I knew this will occasionally be knocked around and for me, reliability was critical. so i went with this metal verison of the Netgear. It is pretty tough and so far has stood up to my misuse. for the price, and being a Netgear, it seems like a no-brainer. If you are trying to pinch pennies, then there are cheaper no-name ethernet switches as Well as the plastic versions of this one. this unit has not disappointed me and the performance is good. well deserves its 5 stars.

18-04-2025Needed a managed switch to separate my IOT vs my regular network in different VLANs. The switchs local management is fairly easy to use. However, it started me into some sort of subscription service for remote management. I am unclear if after the trial period it will revert into a dumb switch -- hopefully not; or if it will make me pay for the premium.

Greater than one weekGigabit connections with 9k Jumbo Frame support and a lifetime warranty (assuming you register it online with netgear). I bought one of these about 6 years ago and it recently started only connecting at 100Mbps connections and some devices wouldnt connect at all. I took it apart, found some bulging capacitors, soldered in two new 6.3v u820 caps and its working great again; after going through all that, I discovered the lifetime warranty; go figure...
