I have had this for switch for about 4 months. It replaced a slower Hawking switch I had had for over 10 years. Looked at other switches but with the mail-in rebate the price was great! It definitely helps sort out the various devices using it and assists in getting more throughput through your ISP pipe. One other factor is the design. Most switches look like they belong in the IT department of your company. This one looks the best of the ones out there from Linksys, Hawking, dLink, etc. It looks good next to my Mac Mini in my home office ;-) !

Just plug it in and go. This is an approved switch for the ReadyNAS Duo that I have, and it works flawlessly with it. Also works with a Macbook Pro running 10.6, an Airport Extreme router, a PS3, an Xbox 360, a DirecTV HD DVR and a Panasonic Plasma (for VieraCast). Apparently this has the same chipset as the GS108 so the speeds are the same. The only differences are the materials (this one is plastic, the GS108 is metal) and whether you want front ports (the GS108) or rear ports (this one). I went with the GS608 because it went into an entertainment system cabinet and I wanted rear ports and to see the status lights without pulling the cabinet away from the wall. Keep in mind there is NO CONFIGURATION on this model. If you need to set traffic priority (for example, voice and video receive a higher priority than web surfing) you should look at the GS108T. And this model cannot be stacked because of heat dissipation. If you need to place two or more together you have to use the supplied stands to place them in a vertical orientation next to each other.

I had an old 10/100Mbs switch that was limiting my throughput to a few devices on the edge of my network. Well, I just replaced it with this 1Gbs switch. Literally just plugged in the ethernet cables from the old switch to the new switch, and instantly I was getting 250Mbs instead of capping out at 90Mbs. (For reference, Im ISP supposedly gives me 500 Mbs, and this is routing first through a 500Mbs cable modem, then a google home mesh point wired connection, then through the first 1Gbs switch, then through THIS new 1Gbs switch). Id say with all of those hops, Im pretty happy with my actual speeds and the improvement this switch provided! Absolutely 5 stars. The simplest install of any computer equipment ever. It just works!

Love the size and performance of this hub. Works great to hook up my printer and computer dock. Bought a second one to hook up two engraving machines to my computers. They work well.

Ive had one of these that worked fine for two years and recently just after the warranty expired it started freezing intermittently on all ports. All the traffic indicators go out leaving just the power indicator on. Only way to reboot is to remove power and all the network cables.- either alone will not restart it. Getting sick of this so its going to trash bin.

Bought it for the price as a backup to an older version that continues to perform flawlessly.

Not much to say except I took it out of the box, plugged it in and it works as it should. With the current $25 rebate, this is one great deal for a gigabit switch. Unit runs cool (unlike other reviews) and I like the color coded numbers for speed - nice touch. I like it so much I bought another one so I got two for the price of one which in this day and age is a real plus. I dont think you can go wrong with this switch based upon my experience.
